Birds on the edge of the abyss 15
The old and frail head of the Imperial Hospital walked in tremblingly with a cane, his face covered by a thick white beard showing a bit of tension.
He happened to be in the Imperial Hospital just now, and was about to observe the students' homework. When he found that there was nothing important, he was about to go home for a nap. But the next second, a palace servant pushed the door open and shouted that the East Palace urgently wanted to see the imperial physician. He was almost scared to death.
As the dean entered the room with a nervous and uneasy mood, he saw His Royal Highness the Crown Prince sitting on the couch. He was wearing a bright yellow brocade robe, which made his face look very noble and handsome. He was so handsome that he almost dazzled his old eyes. As for Shen Changle who was sitting next to him, the dean nodded slightly to him, and Shen Changle also bowed to him nervously.
Seeing that His Royal Highness was fine, he just breathed a sigh of relief. But just after he finished paying his respects, he heard His Royal Highness kindly order him to take the pulse of another person.
The old head of the hospital was worried again and turned to look at the bed hidden by the screen... but he couldn't see anything. He nodded and was supported by Le Luo. He walked past the screen and sat on the stool in front of the bed.
As soon as he sat down, his eyes subconsciously looked towards the bed, wanting to see who this person was. What he saw was a face as beautiful as white jade, with delicate eyebrows and eyes, and handsome features. Even if this person closed his eyes, he could still see how extraordinary his beauty was. The dean opened his mouth in astonishment, not because of the other person's appearance but because of his identity.
Isn't this the eldest grandson of the Duke of Zhenguo who was beheaded a few days ago... He was thought to be dead on the day of beheading, but he is still alive and well... Is this a sign of bad luck or good fortune?
The head of the courtyard shook his head and put his rough old hands on the thin white wrist. He stroked his white beard and closed his eyes to think. But after a while, he frowned and sweat began to form on his forehead.
Le Luo was waiting at the side of the courtyard. Seeing the old man frowning and shaking his head while making a strange hissing sound from time to time, he immediately stepped forward suspiciously and reminded him:
"Director Zhang, what disease was diagnosed?"
"Well, this young man is fine now, but I haven't diagnosed what kind of poison he has been infected with. I am ashamed of my poor medical skills." The head of the hospital smiled bitterly, feeling that medical skills are indeed profound. He has been deeply studying this field for decades, but this is the first time he has encountered such an undiagnosed case.
Le Luo nodded and said soothingly, "Then I will go out and report to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. Please don't blame yourself too much. Please prescribe some more convalescent medicine before you leave!"
She bowed, stepped over the screen and walked out, quickly reporting the situation. Only then did Shen Changle calm down. He couldn't help but wipe the sweat from his cheeks and clenched his hands.
Chu Xin glanced at him without changing his expression, and whispered to Le Luo to help the head of the courtyard out. Then he held his other hand and whispered softly, "Don't worry, your brother is fine."
Shen Changle nodded and thanked him hoarsely.
Chu Xin shook his head, and then rushed out of the courtyard and nodded slightly to ask him to bandage Shen Changle's wound. Shen Changle refused to let the imperial physician treat him first and insisted on seeing Shen Luli. After the courtyard chief left, Chu Xin strode over the screen with his hands behind his back and walked in.
The blood stained the precious quilt and the fine pillow. The bright yellow handkerchief had been completely dyed dark red. Even the dragon pattern on it was faintly red, which made the pale face of the man even more striking.
After taking the handkerchief away, Shen Luli's mouth had already stopped bleeding. Chu Xin grabbed the corner of the handkerchief with one big hand and threw it on the ground. Then he opened the quilt and looked at Shen Luli's clothes which were also soaked with blood. Without thinking, he started to take off the handkerchief.
Halfway through taking off her clothes, she suddenly remembered why she should take the initiative to serve others. Then she stopped with a sour face, her hands stuck to the side, and when she was about to let go and get off the bed, a voice suddenly came from behind her.
"Does Your Highness need any help?"
Chu Xin turned his head to look at Le Luo standing beside the bed with a bright smile, and asked softly, "When did you get here?"
"Your Highness is such a joker. I was naturally following you the entire time, but you were so focused that you didn't notice me."
Le Luo still spoke softly with a smile on his face, but he emphasized the pronunciation of some words.
Chu Xin twitched his mouth, not taking her certain aspects of the sarcasm seriously. He lowered his head to glance at Shen Luli, who had half of his white chest exposed, and pulled his mouth. This man was really unconscious and didn't even know he was taking off his clothes and he didn't resist subconsciously.
Chu Xin pursed her lips. She could vaguely hear the old voice of the head of the courtyard on the other side of the screen. He seemed to be nagging Shen Changle about not taking care of his health and asking him to drink more tonics he wrote. She didn't hear Shen Changle's response. She could only hear a few small "hissing" sounds. It must be because he had knocked hard just now.
Chu Xin stretched out a pair of hot hands to touch the mottled whip marks on the fair skin. The scabs had obviously fallen off. Even after applying Lan Huan's homemade scar removal ointment, it still did not return to its original intact shell. The scars had already spread all over the body, leaving only sadness and no happiness.
Seeing that Le Luo no longer reminded him, Chu Xin continued to take off Shen Luli's blood-stained clothes. It was uncomfortable to wear them anyway, so he might as well lie down comfortably so that he could sleep soundly.
Chu Xin quickly took off the man's clothes, then stuffed him into another brand new quilt on the bed, threw all the dirty things on the ground, and paused slightly when his hand touched the back, which was in a more serious condition.
Scars were scattered across his back, the deepest one almost breaking his back. There were still scabs on it, showing no sign of improvement. Some places were bumpy, where the rotten flesh had been dug out that day and new flesh had not yet grown. Chu Xin touched it back and forth several times until he didn't know where he had touched. Shen Luli suddenly shook his body and Chu Xin stopped.

"Your Highness, it's time to stop..."
Le Luo reminded him. She was originally standing behind Chu Xin. She probably couldn't stand the fact that a certain prince was taking too much advantage of the beauty but she couldn't stop him. So she stood aside to help watch and see when the other person would come in so that she could remind Chu Xin to stop.
Hearing her words, Chu Xin covered herself with the quilt and sat on a low stool beside her. As soon as she sat down, Shen Changle came in with her head covered tightly with the quilt.
This man didn't even look at Chu Xin, he turned around and rushed to the bedside of Shen Luli. He reached out and grabbed Shen Luli's hand hanging beside him and gently squeezed it. He put his cheek on the back of Shen Luli's hand with dried blood and whispered
"Brother..."
