Son of Light 3
Luli buried his head in a heavy book. After a long while, a dull voice came out. "Let them arrest you if they want. You can't escape going to jail because you are also a blasphemer."
The man was startled for a moment, then burst into laughter. He then stood up, rubbed Luli's silver hair vigorously, and walked away leisurely under Luli's stunned gaze, laughing as he walked:
"Yeah, then I'll send someone to arrest you in a few days, just wait, hahaha."
Luli smoothed his hair, a trace of loneliness flashed in his blue eyes, and he said quietly, "Psycho."
---------
Three days later
Luli stood on the castle wall, looking indifferently at the numerous carriages carved with their family crests and the knights following them. They were lining up in the team and slowly entering the castle.
In the dead of winter, he was only wearing a tattered cloak. His face was obviously purple from the cold, but he still stood straight and motionless. After all the carriages entered the city, he gradually raised his gaze to the mountains covered with ice and snow without saying a word.
This was the scene Daisy, the head maid, saw when she came up. She sighed inwardly, lifted her skirt and hurried forward, saying:
"Young Duke, the guests are about to arrive. Come back with me and get dressed. You'll need to entertain the guests with the Duke later."
Lu Li heard her words, moved his stiff legs, and said coldly, "Daisy, is this what the Duke meant?"
Daisy paused and said, "It is the Duke's wish."
Luli brushed the snow off his shoulders, turned around and said silently, "Since it is the Duke's will, let's go."
Daisy looked at the little boy's straight back and couldn't help sighing again. When she was about to follow him down, she saw a golden light out of the corner of her eye. She tilted her head and looked into the distance in confusion, but didn't find anything unusual. Seeing that Luli had already walked down the stairs, she had to lift her skirt and hurriedly followed him.
In the room, Luli avoided the servant's hand and walked into the bathroom by himself. Several maids looked at each other and followed him, but were nailed to the spot by Luli's cold eyes and did not dare to act rashly.
With a "bang", the bathroom door was closed tightly, and the voices of several maids talking outside came into Luli's ears.
"Hiss, did you see the look in the young duke's eyes just now? I thought he was going to kill me. It was so creepy."
"Yes, yes, it's obvious that Master Aiden is more outstanding in terms of talent and strength, but why do I never feel any sense of oppression in front of Master Aiden?"
"Nonsense! Master Aiden is known for his gentleness and kindness. He's never been cold towards us. Unlike the young Duke, who glares at us at every turn, I don't think he even remembers our names!"
"But the young Duke was not like this before..."
......
Could you please speak a little louder? Luli buried his face in the water, feeling speechless.
He stood up slowly amidst the sound of floating water. As the mist dissipated, he was revealed to have countless whip marks and knife scars on his body, alternating layers upon layers. It was horrifying, especially on his back and legs, as if he had been severely whipped.
Luli wiped his body clean and put on his clothes before going out to let the maids wipe his hair and take care of the details.
After everything was packed up, he came to the banquet hall. Duke Sadria and Duchess Denise were already standing there, and the brown-haired boy next to him was Aiden Sadria.
Luli slowly stepped forward and saluted, then calmly said, "Duke, I'm sorry I'm late and made you wait."
Zeth Sadria looked down at the silver-haired boy with a hint of disgust in his eyes. He had black hair and blue eyes, a handsome face and an upright posture. Even though he was over forty, he still looked young and eternally youthful because of his extraordinary bloodline.
Seeing Luli bowing, he snorted coldly and said nothing.
Luli was not surprised. He would receive guests soon, and he would not be so inappropriate as to attack him. Asking him to come out to greet the guests was just to maintain the interests of Sadria. At least for the sake of face, Luli, the young duke, had to show up, otherwise others would think something had happened in the family.
Standing silently aside, Aiden came over. He was only ten years old, a head taller than Luli, and his smile was warm and refreshing. Luli looked straight ahead without moving.
Aiden smiled and said, "Brother, today is my birthday, where is the gift you gave me?"
Luli's mouth twitched, and he said coldly, "Happy birthday."
"That's it?"
“…”
"Tsk, how insincere." Aiden put his hands on the back of his head and curled his lips. Suddenly, his hands were hit. He cried out in pain and said aggrievedly:
"It hurts, mother, why did you hit me?"
"Stand still and behave properly. Today is your birthday, and there are so many eyes on you. Don't act like a scoundrel, doing nothing and bringing disgrace to the family's reputation."
Denise was wearing a burgundy dress and a black mink fur scarf. She had a well-proportioned figure, long brown curly hair that fell to her waist, and a faint fragrance wafting from her nose.
She held a small fan in her hand, covering her face with it. There was a hint of sarcasm on her delicately made-up face. She raised her head, revealing her slender white neck, looking arrogant and mean.
As usual, the Duchess still disliked Luli.
Aiden scratched his head and could only stand there seriously to welcome the guests. The door opened, Luli straightened his tight collar, and followed the Duke and his companions out with a calm expression.
The band was playing, and the nobles began to dance to the music. Servants hurried around the venue, changing plates and dishes. Butlers carried trays and wine glasses and walked among the nobles. After Luli finished socializing with the Duke, he leaned against the wall in the corner, holding a glass of juice and quietly watching the scene in front of him.
His nominal father never remembered that today was also his birthday, his twelfth birthday.
No one would come to talk to him. Through today's banquet, most of the nobles would clearly know the Duke's thoughts. The Duke obviously preferred his second son Aiden.
Now all the nobles in the venue were interested in chatting with the three of them, and the crowd surrounded the place so tightly that no one could get through.
Luli also had some free time. It was a funny scene. Luli tilted his head back and drank the juice in one gulp. He was so hungry after not eating for a whole day that he had no mood to look at the hypocritical family of three.
Luli took a plate of food and quickly filled his stomach amid the whispers and strange looks of others, then walked to the balcony.
As soon as the door was closed, the world suddenly became much quieter. Luli exhaled a breath of hot air, looked at the white mist in the air, and felt his heart calmed down a lot.
Not knowing whether he could live to adulthood, Luli leaned on the railing and thought aimlessly.
