Chapter 510 Natural Disaster Game World Passerby A4
After reaching the third floor, Jiang Yue randomly selected a room to enter. Just as she had expected, there were still broken sofas and chairs inside. Although the door was broken, it could still serve its original purpose. After closing the door, Jiang Yue went into a small room that looked like a nursery. The space was small, but it would be warmer once a fire was lit.
Jiang Yue decided to start a fire by rubbing sticks together. After selecting suitable tools, she began to light the fire. Fortunately, she had learned how to do it before, and the wood was suitable for the dry winter weather. She got the fire going without much trouble. Jiang Yue sat on the broken sofa to warm herself. She estimated that the temperature on the ground was about minus 20 degrees Celsius. Without protective measures, she would probably freeze to death.
While warming herself by the fire, she ate something and gathered up anything that could start a fire. There were some tattered quilts in the room, covered in ash and dark red bloodstains. Jiang Yue didn't have the energy to be disgusted, so she spread the particularly dirty ones on the floor, hung them up to remove the ash, and decided to make do with them for the night.
Jiang Yue woke up as soon as it was light the next day. She hadn't slept well all night and had gotten up several times because it was too cold. She added some wood to the fire and waited for her body to warm up before starting to explore the apartment building. There had been quite a commotion last night, so there should be a lot of zombies in the building. She would clean it up to do some tasks and make it safer to stay there.
After the sun rose and it got less cold, Jiang Yue carried her knife up to the fourth floor. There were twelve zombies on the fourth floor. After killing them, Jiang Yue originally wanted to move them to one room, but it was too tiring, so she gave up. There weren't many supplies on this floor; she only found a few bags of instant noodles and half a bottle of water.
All that was left was a backpack, which was the most useful thing. Jiang Yue put the things at the top of the stairs on the third floor so she wouldn't have to carry them around. After cleaning up the third floor, she found a bag of noodles. It should be noodles, but it was probably expired. She put it away for now so it could last her if she had nothing else to eat.
After clearing out all the zombies in one apartment building, Jiang Yue reached 52/100 in the side quest. Today, Jiang Yue didn't plan to clean up any other apartments. Instead, she planned to move to the fourth floor. She had already cleaned this room. After eating something, Jiang Yue moved all her belongings from the third floor to the fourth floor. She planned to use this place as a temporary base.
Once the zombies in this neighborhood are cleared out, she should be able to complete her three side quests. It's a bit of a shame that there's no water source here, but it's enough as a temporary base. She can use the water she brought sparingly.
During her break, Jiang Yue discovered a new function on the panel. Although Jiang Yue couldn't read, she could still get information about items through the transaction information on the panel. For example, the thing that Jiang Yue found that looked like noodles was actually a bag of noodles, but it had expired three years ago. The item rating said it was edible, which meant it was still edible, but the half-bottle of water was too contaminated to drink.
However, not being able to drink it doesn't mean it's useless. Jiang Yue picked up a few bricks, mixed some mud, and built a simple stove. In case she needs to cook in the future, she won't lack pots and pans anymore. She picked up a whole bunch, and there's also an unopened one that she can wash and use. She'll have a way to get hot water.
After browsing the chat channels for a while, things started to get on track. No one was sending spam anymore, and everyone understood the survival rules of the zombie world. They checked the trading channel and saw that they recognized the items being traded. Jiang Yue had collected a lot of expired food today, which she couldn't finish by herself. Luckily, someone was trading water, which, although not purified, was fine for washing.
Now that everyone has roughly determined the value, Jiang Yue didn't even look at the items before exchanging them. After exchanging the water, she also exchanged a flint and steel and a water cup. This water cup was brand new and could be used after washing.
After exchanging the items, Jiang Yue washed the pot and started boiling water. After boiling the water, she washed the cup and poured the water into the basin next to her. She would use it to wash her hair and brush her teeth later. Personal hygiene is such a problem. It was another day of envying the female lead. Her living in the container house was so comfortable.
After washing her hair and letting it dry, Jiang Yue washed her feet and then mopped the floor with the foot bath water. After that, the little house finally looked like a proper homeless place, although it looked like a homeless person's dwelling, haha.
While Jiang Yue was cleaning the house, she was unaware that the world channel was discussing her situation. She had been in this world for two days, and this was the first time she had shown her face. The female lead, in particular, couldn't recall anyone named Jiang Yue, and could only attribute it to the butterfly effect.
The third day.
After waking up in the morning, Jiang Yue stretched. The fire was burning brightly at night, so she was awakened by the cold less often. Plus, she had many blankets, so she slept quite comfortably.
After getting the fire going, Jiang Yue cooked some noodles and added a piece of luncheon meat to replenish her SAN value. After eating and drinking her fill, she browsed the trading channel. The items were still the same. She probably hadn't gone out to explore yet today.
After closing the panel, Jiang Yue left the apartment building with her knife. After clearing out the building next door, the second side quest was completed. After collecting all the loot from the building, Jiang Yue had more spoils.
What pleased Jiang Yue the most was finding a fireplace. There was still a lot of wood in the room. Jiang Yue chose to move the fireplace over moving the house. There was no way she could move the fireplace because it was too heavy. Although she had a lot of things in the house, none of them were too heavy. It would just mean making a few more trips.
After cleaning the room, Jiang Yue moved all her belongings over, making several trips like ants carrying house. Jiang Yue had no idea that she had accumulated so much stuff in just three days.
The room warmed up instantly after the fireplace was lit. After dinner, Jiang Yue checked the trading channel as usual. There were mattresses and new bedding for sale, but the terms were listed as "negotiable." Jiang Yue didn't know what he wanted to exchange, so she could only contact him privately.
"Hello, how much are the mattresses and bedding?"
"Food, water, and weapons are all acceptable."
Upon seeing the message, Jiang Yue thought for a moment, searched the two buildings and found a lot of expired food. She selected some edible items and sent them to the other party.
"That's all, no bargaining. If you want to change it, just click 'agree'; if you don't agree, that's fine."
The other party agreed without hesitation. When Jiang Yue received the goods, she saw that they were all unopened. After opening them, she spread them on the bed. Today she could take off her clothes and sleep. Before, she always slept in her clothes.
The plastic bags and cardboard boxes used to wrap the bed also came in handy. The windows in the house were broken, and Jiang Yue had previously stuffed them with cloth. Now that they had the plastic film, they could seal the windows.
Sealing the windows was quite a hassle for one person. Jiang Yue went around looking for some wooden strips and nails, and it took her three hours to seal the windows. After sealing them with plastic film, Jiang Yue nailed a cotton quilt on top, and the temperature inside the room rose considerably afterward.
