Chapter 557 The Early-Death Bystander in the Reborn Mother-in-Law Novel (25)

During the chat, Jiang Yue seemed to be interested. Jiang's mother looked at the two of them and felt that there was something going on, so she introduced the dishes with even more enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the few dishes were quickly finished, and it was almost time to leave.

"Aunties, are you leaving tomorrow? I want to chat with you more. When I go to Beijing, you have to show me around."

“Okay, Auntie will leave you an address. You can call Jiang Yue when you arrive. You young people have common topics to talk about.”

"Okay, then I'll take you back to your hotel."

They didn't talk much during their first meeting; just keeping in touch was enough. After returning to the hotel, Jiang's mother asked Jiang Yue to see Bai Ze off. They made an excuse to go upstairs. Jiang Yue and Bai Ze chatted by the roadside, talking about his current businesses and future plans. Now that he had successfully made contact with Jiang Yue, he would go to Beijing when the time was right.

After chatting for a while, Tian Baize left, and Jiang Yue returned upstairs. As soon as she got back, she was surrounded by her mother and Aunt Wang, who were subtly trying to find out what the two had talked about. Jiang Yue refused to answer directly: "Mom, aren't you afraid someone will sell me off!"

"The police station is right next door, where could they possibly sell you to?"

"Fine, say it or not, hurry up and pack your things, you're going home first thing tomorrow morning."

"Um."

Seeing that she couldn't get any information from everyone else, Jiang Yue started packing the things she had bought over the past few days. She brought a lot of gifts home for her family, her two young children, and her close colleagues. She packed three large bags full.

After packing my things, I found a mover outside and arranged for him to deliver them to the train station tomorrow morning. Seeing that it was getting late, I went to sleep, as I had to get up early to leave tomorrow.

At five o'clock in the morning, Jiang Yue was woken up by her mother. She washed her face, packed her things, and prepared to leave. Because she had bought her train ticket early, she didn't eat breakfast and just bought whatever she could find along the way.

After the group went downstairs, they were all carrying large bags and small packages. There were quite a few people at the hotel entrance, all of whom were hired to move things. Jiang's mother told them to hand over their things to the movers. Just as they were about to set off for the train station, Bai Ze arrived.

"Xiaoyue, Auntie, wait a moment."

Jiang Yue and her mother turned around and saw him running over carrying several bags of things. He handed the bags to Jiang Yue and said, "Auntie said she was leaving this morning. I guessed you wouldn't have time to eat, so I found a place to pack some food. You can take it with you on the way."

"And this bag is a gift from me. Remember to write back to me."

After saying goodbye to Aunt Jiang, she smiled and ran off. Jiang Yue was speechless. She hadn't even discussed this with her beforehand, and she had just made a surprise attack. Ignoring the ambiguous glances from the others, Jiang Yue urged everyone to hurry on their way. Some people wanted to buy food along the way, but Jiang Yue didn't let them buy any, as the portions were clearly meant for several people.

After boarding the train, the group sat side by side. After putting their things away, Jiang Yue took out the food that Bai Ze had given them. It was a standard Guangzhou breakfast, and knowing there would be many people, each portion was filled to the brim. Except for Jiang's mother, no one dared to eat. Jiang Yue had to persuade everyone before they started eating. After the meal, Aunt Wang said to Jiang's mother, "She's taken a liking to your Xiao Yue. Now is the time to make a good impression on your mother-in-law."

“Hey, the young man is good-looking and seems nice, but he’s not from Beijing. I don’t want to marry him off to someone from out of town.”

"This is nothing. Transportation will become more and more developed in the future. It will only take a few hours to travel from Hong Kong to Beijing. Moreover, everyone will be able to take a plane in the future, so it will not be difficult for people from other places to go home."

"That's nonsense. Airplanes are not something ordinary people like us can afford. Only leaders can afford them."

Aunt Wang smiled and didn't say anything. People wouldn't believe it if she said this now. Who knew the country would develop so fast? In just a few decades, it takes less than ten hours to get from Guangzhou to Beijing, and even less if you fly.

Jiang Yue asked her mother to pack up the gifts Bai Ze had given her. She was too lazy to look at them on the train; there were too many people and too many eyes to see. She would look at them when she got home.

The train finally arrived in Beijing, and the group had been gone for about ten days.

After getting off the train, we found a tricycle and asked them to take our things home. By the time we got home, it was already past 5 p.m. Although we had only been away for less than two weeks, everyone was homesick. Some of them were traveling far from home for the first time. When they appeared at the gate of the courtyard with their big and small bags, onlookers gathered around.

After moving their things home, the group went to take a shower together. The train smelled so strong that everyone smelled like they'd been pickled. When they came back from the bathhouse, everyone who was going to school or work had returned.

"grandmother!"

"mother!"

"Little sister!"

"elder sister!"

"aunt!"

"The two little ones have come here with gifts for you."

Jiang Yue opened the package and took out all the gifts. She had bought a lot of things, including schoolbags, toys, pencils, and various snacks. She distributed them to the children and their friends. Jiang Yue also shared some with them.

After Jiang's mother, father, elder brother, and sister-in-law finished talking, the sister-in-law finished cooking a while later. Everyone ate and chatted, talking about their experiences in Guangzhou. After dinner, Jiang's mother tidied up her things, and Jiang Yue went back to her room to organize her documents.

She went to Guangzhou with a mission, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to ask for leave. She took out her notebook and started organizing her notes, which contained information on some of the larger garbage recycling stations in Guangzhou, as well as records of interviews with some leaders. Combined with her own thoughts, it was enough to write a report. She wrote until late at night, mainly because she didn't have a computer and had to rely on handwriting, which was too time-consuming.

Jiang's mother came in briefly, bringing in the gifts Bai Ze had given her. Jiang Yue opened them and saw that they contained a headdress, a handkerchief, a scarf, a silk scarf, a music box, a set of cosmetics, and a letter.

Jiang Yue opened the letter and looked at it. It was not much different from a love letter, but not as obvious. Jiang Yue glanced at it and put it away. Her heart was as calm as still water without any ripples. After putting her things away, she went to sleep. She had to go to work the next day.

After finishing breakfast, I took the gifts I bought and distributed them at work. The remaining gifts were for Sister Jin and her neighbors, who usually looked after the houses when they weren't busy. After Station Chief Zhao and the two deputy station chiefs arrived, the three of them held a meeting, and Jiang Yue gave a brief overview of the situation there.

For example, the increase in private recycling stations has led to price wars, monopolies, and the formation of various criminal gangs that damage state property and profit by masquerading as waste. Newcomers to this industry are required to pay fees to enter the business, and these are all real problems.

The three discussed for a while, and Station Chief Zhao said he would submit the report to the higher authorities. As for what the higher authorities thought, that was none of Jiang Yue's business. She had already started working and needed to finish all the work that had accumulated as soon as possible.
