Chapter 72 The Voice of the Entertainment Industry: Passerby A (Part 4)
Mr. Sun didn't launch into a long speech, summarizing it in just two sentences. After finishing, he pressed Zhao Qing to introduce the author to him. Zhao Qing hadn't intended to hide anything, so she turned the computer screen around for him to see:
"As You Wish" is a song by Jiang Yue, an artist under Guagua Entertainment, and has been registered for copyright.
After reading it, General Manager Sun was overjoyed. He stood up and paced around Zhao Qing's office a few times, excitedly muttering to himself, "Hehe, someone from our company." He muttered for a long time but couldn't remember who Jiang Yue was. Could she be a newcomer in the composition department? That doesn't make sense, though. There doesn't seem to be anyone like Jiang in his department. Jiang Yue, Jiang Yue sounds familiar... who is she?
At this moment, Zhao Qing played Jiang Yue's previous song, "My Deskmate." After listening for a while, President Sun suddenly realized, "Oh, it's her! She's the one who inexplicably became popular, so popular that even people inside the company couldn't understand her." Although he knew who it was, President Sun frowned. This girl's leap was too drastic. This song, "My Deskmate," was only third-rate, but it suddenly jumped to first-rate. Is this normal?
"Mr. Zhao, um... it's not that I don't believe it, but the leap is too big, isn't it? It's just too unbelievable."
"Don't worry, this song is registered on the copyright website. Have you heard it anywhere else? Would you give up a song of this caliber to someone else? Besides, I'm an artist who came from an orphan background and have no connections. Who would sacrifice themselves to please another person?"
"Besides, I've already asked her to write a theme song for Qian Ya, and she's already agreed. We'll see if she's good enough once we put her to the test. And even if she has connections, does that affect us? Anyway, whoever writes it, we're the ones who benefit. So it's best if she's the one, and I hope it's her."
Mr. Sun also felt that this was the case, so he stopped worrying about whether Jiang Yue wrote it or not. Just like Zhao Qing said, everything would become clear in time. Mr. Sun thanked Zhao Qing again for asking Jiang Yue to write a song for Qian Ya. After finishing their business, the two chatted for a while. Mr. Sun said that if Jiang Yue wrote it, Mr. Zhao would be very lucky and he should take good care of him in the future. Just then, the assistant knocked on the door, and the two stopped chatting: "Come in!"
"Mr. Zhao, HR distributed fruit today, I brought it to you." The assistant placed the fruit on Zhao Qing's desk, where a plate was already laid out. Zhao Qing glanced at the fruit in the assistant's hand, then at General Manager Sun, who wiped the sweat from his brow. "Mr. Zhao, if there's nothing else, I'll be going now. I'm going to record a demo to send to the production team." With that, he fled. Zhao Qing was somewhat amused and exasperated, then told the assistant, "Take this to General Manager Sun."
Seeing the fruit on the table, the assistant probably guessed what had happened. The afternoon tea provided by the HR department had been used by General Manager Sun as a favor, taking advantage of the timing. General Manager Zhao thought that General Manager Sun had brought it over specially. After helping Zhao Qing tidy up the table, the assistant left.
Jiang Yue listened to Qian Ya's previous songs and felt that this world might originally be a novel, and many celebrities were just illusory.
This made things much easier. Jiang Yue found the song by the artist, took one out, and saved it on her phone. She didn't post it immediately but waited a few days to allow for a buffer period. After choosing the song, Jiang Yue put the matter aside and started watching dramas on her phone. She watched until her assistant came over in the evening to ask her what she wanted to eat for dinner.
"Sister Yue, it's time for dinner. What do you like to eat? Do you have any dietary restrictions? Tell me so I can write it down."
"Avoid ordering spicy foods such as onions, ginger, garlic, chili peppers, and vinegar. You can eat light, low-salt foods, and plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits. For drinks, just water and juice. Don't eat anything else. The food should be lukewarm, not too hot or too cold."
Jiang Yue explained the specific requirements to her assistant, who carefully wrote them down. After thinking about it, she realized there was nothing particularly noteworthy; it was all based on the normal eating habits of most singers. The assistant breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that she wasn't a difficult person to please. If she were given a free pass, she would be completely at a loss.
Watching her assistant and Sister Qiao eat boiled pork slices, and then looking at her own bland diet, Jiang Yue felt an urge to give up being a singer. The assistant, feeling Jiang Yue's intense gaze, exchanged a glance with Sister Qiao, and the two of them tacitly picked up their food, turned their backs to Jiang Yue, and started eating quickly.
Jiang Yue sighed helplessly, thinking it couldn't be that bad. She then lowered her head and started eating her meal. The meal her assistant had bought was quite delicious, though it was much more expensive than other restaurants. She thought to herself, "If only 8888 could give me the ability to eat anything without affecting my voice." She waited for a while, but 8888 completely ignored her.
After dinner, we went to bed early. There was another event to attend in another place the next night, so we had to leave early the next morning. Since it was relatively close, we didn't need to take a plane; we could just drive there. The RV had a place to sleep, so we wouldn't be too tired. At 5 a.m. the next morning, Jiang Yue's assistant woke her up. After washing up and having breakfast, we set off.
......
10:00 AM.
In an office in the post-production department of the National Day tribute film "My Motherland and My People," director Yang Cheng was tapping the table lightly: "Our film is about to start its promotion, and it will be released on National Day. There's still a month left. How long will it take to finalize the theme song?"
"Director Yang."
The producer shook his head and said, "This is not my fault. Tencent and Zhiyu Entertainment sent us more than twenty songs, but you didn't like any of them. Most of them were works by top composers, but you didn't like any of them!"
Yang Cheng said with dissatisfaction: "Don't you know what kind of story our movie is? They don't know, but you don't. The songs they released are good, and I can't lie and say they're bad, but it's also true that they don't fit our movie well. Do you think I can fool you? Do you think the investors would agree to that?"
Everyone lowered their heads and remained silent, their gazes darting away.
Yang Cheng took a deep breath to control his temper: "Hurry up and urge them again. If that doesn't work, expand the scope of song requests. Time is running out. Is there no one in the entire Chinese music scene who can write a suitable song? Double the prepared funds, I really don't believe it."
"It's not that bad."
The producer chuckled, "Let's wait a little longer. We've received a lot of songs in our inbox, and the staff hasn't sorted them out yet. We'll see if there are any suitable ones this afternoon."
Yang Cheng sneered: "Forget the afternoon, it's now! While everyone's here, find a computer and bring it over every day until we get a suitable song. Don't make things difficult for the staff; do you think they can make that decision?"
