Chapter 291 A Passerby in the World of Professional Challenges 11
Jiang Yue was awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of wind and rain hitting the tent. Looking around, she saw that the wind and rain had already started and the waves were getting bigger and bigger. Jiang Yue cursed under her breath and quickly got dressed to prepare to move to another location. After getting dressed, Jiang Yue started packing up the tent. By the time the tent was packed up, her body and backpack were soaked.
Fortunately, she had packed up most of her things before going to bed. After taking out the live streaming equipment, she hung it around her neck. Although she didn't know if anyone was in the live stream, Jiang Yue still gave an introduction to the current situation. After finishing, she put on her backpack and picked up the box containing the pots and pans and seasonings. She hoped that the portable gas stove wouldn't get wet and break. If it did, it would be a problem to eat. Just to be on the safe side, she would put it in a canopy. She would do her best and leave the rest to fate.
It took them an hour and a half to reach the mountainside despite the wind and rain. Visibility was poor and the wind was strong. If Jiang Yue hadn't held on tightly, she would have almost been blown away by the wind. After arriving at the hut, Jiang Yue moved the stone blocking the door, put her things down, and then hurriedly closed the door. However, the wire was completely useless, and she had to block it with stones again.
With no other option, Jiang Yue jumped out of the window. Luckily, the window wasn't high. After blocking the door, she jumped back into the small house and hung up two lamps from her backpack. The small house wasn't big, and the two lamps made it much brighter. The wind and rain were heavy, and rain kept blowing in through the window, so Jiang Yue quickly grabbed a canopy to block it.
After finishing, Jiang Yue swept the water off the floor with a broom. Luckily, it was only around the window, and there wasn't much water. She swept it out through the crack in the door. After putting down the broom, she quickly checked the portable gas stove. She didn't find anything wrong with the exterior. Jiang Yue carefully put the can inside and tested it. Fortunately, there were no problems.
Just in case Jiang Yue didn't put out the fire, she left it burning to warm herself. She took out the tent from her backpack. Luckily, she had bought a better quality one, otherwise she would have been sleeping soundly when it was flooded. Even after all this trouble, it was still a bit wet, not to mention the backpack and Jiang Yue's clothes.
Jiang Yue took the charcoal brazier from the corner, then took some wood, lit it, and placed it next to the tent. She changed her clothes and put her wet clothes and backpack next to the charcoal brazier. In this weather, she couldn't dry them in the sun, so she could only roast them. Otherwise, they would smell bad if they were dried in the shade.
After arranging everything, Jiang Yue wiped down the air mattress and pillows, and also cleaned the inside of the tent. After finishing, she put the things inside. It was only four in the morning, and she wanted to take a nap later. She checked the portable gas stove and turned it off. If it wasn't broken, she could have a hot meal.
After the tent dried, Jiang Yue waited until her backpack and clothes were dry before going to sleep, because she was afraid that a gust of wind would come in and set the house on fire. To be on the safe side, Jiang Yue poured some water in after the wood had been extinguished.
The next day, Jiang Yue woke up at 10 a.m. After coming out of the tent, she took her equipment and filmed the house for everyone. Then she opened the canopy and filmed the outside: "Brothers, it was windy and rainy in the middle of the night. We moved here in the middle of the night. It looks like we won't be able to go back anytime soon. We need to prepare for a long battle."
"Brothers, let me go brush my teeth and wash my face first, and take care of my personal hygiene."
After finishing, Jiang Yue checked the food supplies in the cabin. It was mostly emergency canned food and instant noodles. She looked at the things in her backpack and there wasn't much good food. There were two potatoes, an onion, leftovers from yesterday, four eggs, and a piece of bread. She opened the egg carton and checked it. Luckily, it wasn't broken and was in good condition.
"This is all the food the brothers have in their backpacks. Today was supposed to be the day to pick up supplies. Sigh, there's still a little rice left. We'll stir-fry some onions and eggs and cook some rice. That'll be enough for breakfast."
The dishes weren't difficult to prepare, and Jiang Yue quickly cooked them. It was just that cooking the rice took a little time. While eating, Jiang Yue chatted with everyone: "This guy, I don't think the wind will stop today. Although the rain is a little less than last night, the rain on the platform isn't the main problem. When there's wind, there will be waves. We can't set up tents if the waves are a meter or two high."
"There are four bottles of water in my backpack. I looked around and there is also a 5L water tank in the house. That's enough for cooking and drinking. As for food, there's no shortage of it. There's half a box of instant noodles, ham, canned fruit, and a few cans of meat. With food in hand, I'm not worried."
After the meal, Jiang Yue put away the charcoal brazier and then collected the dried clothes. They would need to be washed before they could be worn again when the weather was better, as nothing could be done when it was windy or rainy. Jiang Yue then took out her tablet and started watching a movie, also placing the filming equipment behind the screen, and then led everyone to watch the movie.
After killing time all day, Jiang Yue started cooking at 7 p.m. Although she only had instant noodles, it was enough for her to cook. She boiled the noodles first, then fried the ham sausage, chopped a quarter of an onion, and stir-fried all of these together to make a plate of stir-fried instant noodles.
After dinner, I looked at the weather outside. The rain was almost over and the wind had subsided a lot. "Brothers, although the wind has died down and the rain is almost over, let's stay another night just to be safe. We'll check the situation tomorrow. Alright, brothers, it's getting late. I'm exhausted after a long day at work. I'm contestant number 58, Jiang Yue. See you tomorrow!"
Jiang Yue couldn't see the comments on the screen and didn't know what people were saying about her. After setting up her filming equipment, she went to sleep. She got up at around 5 a.m. the next morning, got dressed, and looked around. It seemed that everything had calmed down outside.
"Good morning, brothers. Good morning, Mom and Dad. You probably haven't gotten up yet. The weather is great today, so we can't stop our patrol. Let's go, I'll take you hiking."
After completing her morning patrol, Jiang Yue returned to the mountainside, packed up her tent, and went to the safe house to replenish her supplies. She also took a lot of snacks, enough to last her for three or four days.
After setting up the tent at the bottom of the mountain, Jiang Yue was starving. She decided to cook some instant noodles and, while the water was boiling, she went to check the crab traps. They hadn't been caught for the past two days, so they must have had a good catch. She hoped they wouldn't get stuck on the rocks. A smiling girl is bound to have good luck. There were quite a few crabs in the two traps. After throwing away the small and dead ones, there were still 6 crabs left, enough for a meal.
After eating a seafood noodle dish, Jiang Yue took out her fishing rod and planned to cast a few times. She had a feeling that she would catch a big catch today, but like most anglers, her premonition was just a hoax. Apart from a half-pound blackhead, she got nothing. She had been empty-handed every day for the past few days, so she decided to go beachcombing and collect some snails and mussels instead.
There are so many of these two things here, you can just pick them up with your eyes closed. I made a little extra today because Jiang Yue is still a bit unwilling to give up. She put some in the crab trap and tried to use them as bait to see if she could catch a few yellow croakers.
