Approaching were an elderly man and a middle-aged man.
The old man, with a serious face and dressed like an old scholar, glared angrily at the young man beside him upon hearing the voice: "Xiao Zhen, what nonsense are you talking about? What's good about it! I don't think it's good at all!"
Ye Qingxi greeted the old man respectfully: "Greetings, mentor."
He then nodded to the middle-aged man beside him: "Director Zhen."
He quietly introduced the two people to Tong Su: "This is my mentor, Professor Hua. This is Director Zhen of the Special Execution Division, who was recently transferred from the ministry."
Tong wasn't in a special department, so there was no need for her to be overly respectful. A simple greeting was enough to let it go. However, Professor Hua and Director Zhen got into a heated argument because of her.
Director Zhen's eyes lit up: "I completely agree with what you mean by openness! What mutants? We are genetic evolvers! Every era changes because of technological progress. Now we have reached a crossroads. Evolvers are superior to ordinary people in every way. Why can't we let them stand up and lead the times forward?"
"You're twisting the facts!" Professor Hua's beard pounded with anger. "What leader? You just want to be the ruler! The power disparity between mutants and ordinary people is too great. If you add the ruler to that, it will only create an even more distinct class antagonism! What are ordinary people? Are they slaves to the mutants? Absolutely not! Even if we have to hide the mutants, we can't let you destroy the world!"
"Professor Hua, you're just too stubborn." Director Zhen stamped his foot. "Only you have the list of members of the special department, only you know who the hidden mutants are in the vast sea of people! Haven't you realized how strong they really are? They are the future! Wouldn't letting them blend into the crowd be harming them?"
"You're wrong. We simply have the world at heart. When the special department was first established, we were required to keep the list hidden, precisely to protect the mutants! Mutants are a minority. If we knew who the mutants were through the list and then pushed them out to face the storm, that would be harming them!"
The two were locked in a fierce confrontation, neither willing to back down. Professor Hua coldly glanced back at Tong Su, then rebuked Ye Qingxi:
"And you, a grown man, just bringing people in like that? Luckily this isn't the main base yet. Did you check her identity? What if she's not trustworthy?!"
He questioned her in front of Tong Su, and Ye Qingxi blushed deeply, saying awkwardly, "Teacher, this is my fiancée, Gu Zhuyang from the Gu family. It's not that I can't trust her."
Director Zhen smoothed things over, saying, "Yes, yes, Xiao Ye's fiancée could be an undercover agent? Old Hua, your personality is really unlikable."
As he spoke, he patted Tongsu's shoulder forcefully. Tongsu deliberately concealed her aura and quietly stood in the corner listening. However, she was suddenly caught in the whirlpool and could only helplessly look up and smile.
Professor Hua and Director Zhen were about to leave, as were Tong Su and Ye Qingxi. The four of them headed to the elevator. Director Zhen and Professor Hua were still arguing when Tong Su suddenly heard a faint buzzing sound.
She apologized to Ye Qingxi, saying, "My shoelace came undone. I'm sorry, please allow me to be late."
Ye Qingxi smiled and waved her hand, indicating that she didn't mind. Tong Su took a step back to the side, pretended to bend down to tie her shoelaces, and quietly pressed the communicator.
"Where are you? I received a last-minute notification that the target of this assassination mission has been spotted, and someone saw him enter the hospital."
Wu Ming's voice was unusually urgent, even somewhat anxious, and deep; it was the first time he had spoken so much.
"The organization has sent an action team with me, and they want me to kill him at all costs. He's an official surnamed Zhen. Stay away from the battlefield!"
