“I have a guess, but I’m not sure,” Tong Su frowned. “When I get out, I’ll go and take a look at their dreams. I hope it’s not what I’m imagining.”
Professor Hua asked, "Who is it?"
She pursed her lips, two figures flashing through her mind: "There are two people, I'm not sure. We know one of them, and the other is someone I have a connection with."
Professor Hua said, "Alright, tell me when you're sure. There's also the traitor. Ten years ago, Shen Xi left behind the words 'traitor,' and that person hasn't been exposed from the Special Department yet. He killed so many people; we absolutely cannot let him go!"
"The first thing we need to do now is..."
boom
Suddenly, the dream was violently shaken. Professor Hua's figure vanished, the sky fell like shattered glass, and the land turned into a sticky swamp, trying to swallow the three of them.
Wu Ming grabbed Tong Su and leaped up, dodging the ground's engulfing force.
Tong Su exclaimed urgently, "This dream has been forcibly ended! Someone woke Professor Hua up!"
"Don't panic, I'll try my best to stay conscious!" Professor Hua's voice came intermittently from the sky. A shaky image appeared in mid-air, and the shaking in the dream stopped. "You continue to hide here. I'll try my best to project what I see here as well."
Amidst the shaky footage, someone cheerfully pushes open the door and walks in.
"Professor Hua!"
Professor Hua slept at his own home.
His wife passed away a few years ago, and he has no children. The only family he has is a nanny and his assistant. Given his rank, he could easily be allocated a villa, but Professor Hua declined and still lives in his house in the university's residential area in Qingdao.
Professor Hua looked at the newcomer warily: "What are you doing here? How did you get in?"
The man smiled, raised his hand and waved it, a bunch of keys jingling. He said, "Of course I came in by opening the door."
Blood was still dripping from the keychain. Professor Hua stared wide-eyed, examining it closely. The familiar appearance and the familiar ornament: "Th-those are Xiao Wu's keys! You surnamed Zhen, what have you done to Xiao Wu?!"
Xiao Wu is his assistant, the young man that Tong Su and Wu Ming saw in Professor Hua's dream.
Professor Hua has no children, and Shen Xi disappeared ten years ago. Xiao Wu was his student and his deputy. Although they are not father and son, their relationship is better than that of a biological father and son.
The man smiled and said, "It's nothing. He wanted to bring me to see you, but he wouldn't lead the way. There's nothing we can do but deal with disobedient people the same way we usually do."
"You killed him!"
“No,” the man shook his finger, “he’s not dead yet. His ability is a living map, which we desperately need. We just took him with us.”
Professor Hua's throat was so sore that he couldn't make a sound. He felt as if his throat was stuck together, dry and sore. It also felt as if a huge stone had been shoved into his chest, hard and heavy, pressing on his heart and lungs, making it impossible to breathe.
"How could you treat Xiao Wu like that! What are you trying to do here?!"
The man chuckled, "Of course I'm here to ask you for something. Professor Hua, you should understand."
"The list." Professor Hua's hands trembled, but his face showed disbelief. Many things he didn't understand became clear when he thought of this person, and suddenly everything made sense.
He practically roared, "So it was you who betrayed the Special Forces?!"
His aged body suddenly burst forth with tremendous strength; he lunged against the wall and smashed the light switch.
The white light from the energy-saving lamps fell, illuminating the faces of people coming from afar with meticulous detail.
