Chapter 782 Brother, I'm really good (71)

"Mom?! Mom?!"

Nan Weixia felt a chill run through her body and spoke nervously and uneasily.

Nan's mother took a deep breath, instantly suppressing all the strange emotions on her face, and calmly asked, "What is it?"

Nan Weixia stammered, "Nothing... I just wanted to ask if my sister was alright last night? I wanted to hear how well she was doing when she got back. I was really worried about her."

"Heh, as long as you don't worry about her, she'll be fine!" Mother Nan twitched the corner of her mouth and smiled strangely, saying bluntly, "If there's nothing else, I'll take Yaoyao to school first. You can eat your meal and then have the driver take you."

Should we have the driver take us?

Nan Weixia was taken aback.

Since both she and Nan Yao were going to Hongsong, why did they have to make two separate trips? Besides, the family has a driver, so why would Nan's mother need to drive the child to school herself?

Most importantly, why is it that one mother drives her son to school herself, while the other can only be picked up and dropped off by a driver?

But before she could ask, Nan's mother urged Tongsu to leave. Nan Weixia stared intently at Tongsu's figure, watching the wheelchair about to leave the restaurant. Tongsu turned around and gave her a gentle and obedient smile.

Nan Weixia almost broke her chopsticks!

That smile, seemingly gentle and obedient, was incredibly glaring in her eyes, like a provocation!

"South--"

She stood up abruptly, about to shout, but her father's face darkened, and he scolded, "Sit back down! What kind of attitude is this!"

Nan Weixia almost lost her composure, but forcibly restrained herself and obediently sat back down.

The butler maintained a polite and distant demeanor, his expression revealing no change whatsoever.

In the corner, a maid let out a soft, barely suppressed laugh. The butler glanced in that direction, and the maid quickly left without being reprimanded.

Nan Weixia was almost restless. She roughly guessed that something bad must have happened to her, but she had no clue what it was.

Panicked and disoriented, she wished she could immediately turn around and go back to her bedroom to call Brother Long and find out what was happening outside.

But the phone call could never be made—Mother Nan reported the case directly, and Brother Long had been detained overnight.

At this moment, Nan Weixia was unaware of all this, let alone that she was already caught in a whirlpool, and could only eat her breakfast without tasting it.

Before leaving, Tongsu smiled slightly at her.

Even after the car drove out of the gate, Nan's mother's face remained tense. After a long while, she finally said to Tong Su, "From now on, your sister—don't get too close to her. She's too scheming. Don't be like her."

Tongsu nodded obediently, looking at the early spring sunshine in front of the car, which was still chilly but was beginning to warm up, with a beaming smile.

Nan Weixia never got a chance to make a phone call.

She finished her breakfast feeling frustrated, and the driver came to pick her up immediately. On the way, she sat in the back seat and secretly sent a text message to Brother Long, but he didn't reply.

When she arrived at school, her classmates insisted on walking with her, so she never had a chance to make a phone call alone.

Unbeknownst to her, after she left home, her father put down his newspaper and nodded slightly to the housekeeper: "Go, open her room and look for any clues inside."

Last night, he received a last-minute call from Nan's mother and learned that Yaoyao had almost gotten into trouble—

He was on a business trip in Korea at the time and flew back overnight. He only got home this morning.

Originally, he wanted to keep it from Nan Yun Shen, but he didn't know who had called him and that Yao Yao had been robbed by thugs and taken to the police station. He was so anxious that he insisted on coming back.
