Everyone says she's willful, capricious, and has an unpredictable temper. She also hates studying. Her colleagues at the hospital all advise her to be careful and avoid this young lady, lest she get herself into trouble.
Dr. Chu wouldn't look down on this young lady just because of rumors, but she couldn't say she wasn't a little unsettled. However, after arriving at the Nan family, she discovered just how outrageous the rumors were!
This Miss Nan Yao is not at all pretentious, unlike the arrogant, willful, vicious, and domineering persona in legends. She is actually a very gentle and well-behaved girl.
Everyone says she lost her memory and forgot her past, which is why she became like this. But Dr. Chu disagrees: People can lose their memories, but losing memories doesn't mean changing one's personality. Nan Yao forgot her memories, yet her personality is so well-behaved and cheerful, which means that's who she really is!
Most of those rumors are probably just hearsay.
"Yes, I really want to go back to school as soon as possible. The high school entrance exam is in the second half of the year, and the third year of junior high is really important."
Dr. Chu was taken aback. Junior high school?
The girl spoke, then suddenly remembered, and exclaimed in annoyance, "I forgot! My mom said I have amnesia. I should be in my second year of high school now..." Her face immediately turned bitter. "What am I going to do? I've forgotten everything I learned in high school!"
Dr. Chu thought for a moment and said, "You're studying humanities or sciences? It would be best if your family could help you find a tutor. You're in the first semester of your second year of high school now, and there's still a year and a half until the college entrance exam. If you study hard, you can improve your grades."
"Yes, I should definitely catch up on my studies. Thank you, Dr. Chu!"
Leaving the Nan family, Dr. Chu was still thinking about the gleam in the girl's eyes when she mentioned studying. She couldn't help but smile; Miss Nan didn't seem like a self-destructive academic failure at all.
She returned to the hospital, and after finishing her work, during her lunch break, her colleagues gathered around her: "Dr. Chu, did you go to the Nan family yesterday? Did that young lady from the Nan family bully you?"
"Sigh, if it weren't for her family having shares in the hospital, who would be willing to serve that rich girl! Dr. Chu has it tough too."
Everyone looked at her with sympathy, but Dr. Chu shook his head firmly: "No! Miss Yao is a very good person! She is not at all as vicious and domineering as you say, but rather very well-behaved and gentle."
"Huh?" Everyone was taken aback. "Didn't they say she was always arguing with her brother and sister and bullying their servants?"
Dr. Chu smiled as he recalled the well-behaved little girl he had seen at the Nan family's house.
“I didn’t see it. Her brother didn’t come home, but her sister was. She was very polite to her sister, but her sister didn’t seem to like being with her. She didn’t bully the servants either. When she saw that it was cold, she even had someone make brown sugar ginger water for the servants so they wouldn’t catch a cold.”
Everyone was even more surprised: "But her grades are so bad..."
"I don't know her exam scores, but she clearly loves studying." Dr. Chu was also puzzled. "She lost her memory and thought she was still in the third year of junior high school. Before I examined her injuries, she was looking at biology competition questions. She even asked me a few questions she didn't understand, so I felt that her grades should be pretty good."
"This...this is so different from the legends!" Everyone had different expressions, finding it hard to believe. "She sounded like a really nice girl!"
"Hey, I don't believe it! Could there be any ghosts behind the lies she told before? I'm afraid she was faking it when we first met! It won't be long before she shows her true colors. Dr. Chu, you'd better be careful."
As everyone was talking, someone suddenly knocked on the door: "Excuse me, is Dr. Chu in?"
Dr. Chu looked up and saw that it was the Nan family's maid, who was carrying an exquisite box. Upon seeing her, the maid quickly came over and said, "Dr. Chu, I was sent by the young lady. She said she was very grateful for your care and specially prepared a gift for you. I hope you like it."
In the lounge, everyone's eyes widened!
