Upon hearing the knock, Shi Lingqiao's maid opened the door.
Seeing Huo Jiwen standing at the door, she was surprised and asked, "Young Master, what brings you here?"
Huo Jiwen was relatively polite to Shi Lingqiao's trusted maid, smiling and nodding at her, "Is your young lady here?"
"Yes, I am." The maid stepped aside.
Huo Jiwen entered with his entourage.
Unbeknownst to him, someone was watching him from around the corner.
Upon seeing him enter the private room, he immediately ran downstairs and out of the teahouse to report the news.
As soon as Huo Jiwen entered the private room, Shi Lingqiao stood up to greet him.
She walked up to Huo Jiwen and reached out to straighten his collar. "Why are you here?"
Huo Jiwen replied, "I was just about to go to the jewelry store to choose some jewelry for you when I heard the servant say that you went into the teahouse."
He looked at her with eyes full of love and said, "I wanted to see you, so I came."
Shi Ling gave him a playful glare, "Didn't we just see each other a few days ago?"
Huo Jiwen turned to the maids and servants in the private room and instructed them, "You all go out first."
The maids and servants were already used to it, "Yes!"
After leaving, he considerately closed the door.
As soon as the door closed, Huo Jiwen couldn't resist pulling Shi Lingqiao into his arms and kissing her. "A day apart feels like three autumns."
Shi Lingqiao pushed him away but couldn't budge him, and then she became immersed in his kiss.
They didn't make plans today; they just happened to run into each other, so no one should have seen them.
The two were so engrossed in their kiss in the private room that Huo Tong, who had been prepared beforehand, led several burly maids and servants and rushed into the teahouse to the second floor.
Two maids and Huo Jiwen's attendant were standing outside the innermost private room.
Huo Tong knew that the two people must be in the private room.
He led his men quickly over, and when they reached the door, before the maids at the door could react or report anything, he arrived at the door.
One of the burly maids kicked the door open, just as Huo Tong had instructed her to do.
As soon as the door was kicked open, Huo Tong saw Huo Jiwen sitting with a woman on his lap, and the two were kissing.
"Huo Jiwen, how could you come to a teahouse to have an affair? How can you do this to your fiancée?"
Huo Tong hadn't been this shocked when she heard from her sister-in-law or saw the information her husband had found out.
But seeing my nephew's shameless behavior, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment.
The door was kicked open, and Huo Jiwen and Shi Lingqiao were both startled. They quickly separated and looked towards the door.
Then they heard Huo Tong's voice and words, and both of their expressions changed.
Shi Lingqiao instinctively stood up immediately, thinking that she was in trouble.
Huo Jiwen was also somewhat flustered. Although he had been resisting his mother and saying he wanted to break off the engagement and marry Shi Lingqiao, he still felt guilty after his aunt caught him kissing Shi Lingqiao.
He asked, "Auntie, what brings you here?"
Huo Tong said coldly, "If I hadn't come, how could I have witnessed you being seduced by such a shameless vixen to do such a despicable thing in a teahouse?"
Huo Jiwen frowned, stood up and shielded Shi Lingqiao behind him, "Aunt, don't say such unpleasant things."
Huo Tong was unhappy to see Huo Jiwen protecting that vixen, and when he heard his words, he was so angry that he almost fell backward.
She said angrily, "You've already done such shameful things in a teahouse, and you're still afraid of what others will say?"
Seeing that his aunt had discovered his affair, Huo Jiwen adopted a "what's the worst that can happen?" attitude.
He said, "Aunt, I truly love Lingqiao. Since you don't like her, then my cousin and I..."
But before he could say he wanted to break off the engagement, Huo Tong interrupted him.
She was trembling with anger as she accused Huo Jiwen, "I wasted my time spoiling you, you're a complete scoundrel."
"You've done something disgusting, I dare not marry my daughter to you again, otherwise she'll suffer so much. I'll go to the Duke's mansion to annul the engagement right away."
Just as my sister-in-law predicted, once she catches the two of them having an affair, my nephew might take the opportunity to ask to break off the engagement with his daughter.
Her sister-in-law told her to quickly propose breaking off the engagement if she sensed anything was wrong.
Fortunately, her sister-in-law had reminded her beforehand; otherwise, if Huo Jiwen had proposed breaking off the engagement first, not only would the Qiao family have lost all face, but her daughter's reputation would have been ruined as well.
After all, she came to catch the two of them having an affair, but Huo Jiwen wanted to break off the engagement, preferring an immoral and lowly woman to her daughter.
Some people will definitely say that there is something wrong with her daughter, which is why Huo Jiwen dislikes her like this.
Huo Jiwen was stunned. He hadn't expected his aunt to propose breaking off the engagement first, but it was for the best.
She was still a little unhappy about being dumped on her own initiative.
He nodded, his expression not very pleasant. "Alright, let's annul the engagement then."
Standing behind Huo Jiwen, Shi Lingqiao's expression was also unpleasant. She had long planned and hoped that Huo Jiwen would break off the engagement, but things didn't turn out that way.
He was jilted by Qiao Xinyue's mother first, and today they were caught having an affair. Her reputation is definitely going to be ruined.
But there's nothing she can do right now, and she can't even speak, otherwise Huo Tong would definitely vent his anger on her.
Her current identity is that of a small merchant's daughter; she is no match for the Qiao family.
Seeing her nephew's decisiveness, Huo Tong was utterly disappointed in him. "Fine, you're really something. From now on, don't acknowledge me as your aunt."
She turned and left after she finished speaking, while a number of people were still gathered at the entrance of the private room to watch the show.
Huo Tong felt humiliated, but also relieved.
My nephew and that vixen are going to have their reputations ruined in Beijing today.
After Huo Tong left with his men, Huo Jiwen saw many people craning their necks to look into the private room, which made him furious.
