Chapter 11 The Educated Youth Who Abandoned Their Wives and Children

Chapter 11 The Educated Youth Who Abandoned Their Wives and Children

Zhang Pandi shrank back and dared not shout anymore: "I should have kept my voice down. This Er Ya is really greedy."

"Alright, the food is almost ready. I'll go cook some more vermicelli. We'll have this for lunch and then you can have a proper drink together when the second brother comes back tonight."

Seeing that Chen's mother was about to go to the kitchen to work again, Chen Chunya also stood up.

"Second Brother, how is Daya doing now?" Ji Huaizhi asked, trying to start a conversation with the three grown men sitting there in silence.

The Yue family doesn't actually discriminate against girls; in fact, they care more about their daughters.

However, the eldest sister-in-law always felt that sons were the foundation and daughters were a waste of money. After repeating this to Chen Chunhua many times, Chen Chunhua also began to think that it made sense.

“Da Ya is still working as a temporary worker at the state-run restaurant and is currently living at our uncle’s house,” Chen Chunhua said.

“Da Ya is so big now, and I remember that my uncle’s two sons are not young either. It won’t be convenient if this goes on for too long, will it?” Ji Huaizhi frowned.

Chen Chunhua didn't mind: "What's inconvenient about it? We're all brothers and sisters."

"Brother, you make it sound so easy. Mom mentioned it to you before, but you didn't care. What's so good about Daya always living under someone else's roof?" Chen Chunya came in carrying a kettle of boiling water and poured it into a thermos.

Ji Huaizhi stood up and took it, saying, "I'll do it."

"Really? What's wrong with being relatives?"

Chen Chunya didn't want to say anything more. If she said too much, her sister-in-law would think they were jealous that Daya was able to stay in the city.

At noon, the Chen family stewed chicken to welcome Ji Huaizhi.

When Chen Chunsheng and his wife were at work, they would prepare food for Chen Xiao and bring it to Chen's parents to keep watch. The children were happy that there was meat for lunch today.

Chun Ya first put a piece of meat on each of the children's plates. When Zhang Pandi saw this, she thought that the Chen family spoiled their children: "It's fine to give it to Xiao Tian and Gou Dan'er. Why do the two girls need meat?"

"Eating too much meat is bad for you, Xiaoxiao, eat the glass noodles inside."

Ji Huaizhi thought to himself that no matter how many times his sister-in-law was scolded, she never learned her lesson.

“Since eating too much is bad for you, you shouldn’t eat anymore. Just eat the vegetables. We can afford to give the children a few pieces of meat.” Chen’s mother’s face darkened.

Ji Huaizhi had finally returned home and wanted the whole family to have a happy meal together, so she kept calling out to him from the side.

It's infuriating.

"You're in charge of other people's children, you should eat yours." Chen Chunhua noticed the elderly couple's displeasure and said a few words to them: "How much can a child eat?"

Zhang Pandi felt embarrassed and unhappy after being talked about so much.

"I didn't say anything wrong."

Chen Xiao stared pitifully at the adult chicken on the table. Seeing her blank expression, Ji Huaizhi picked up a piece of meat and put it in her bowl.

In the countryside, there is no rule about not talking while eating or sleeping. Chen's mother remembered something and said, "You went back to the city to see your parents before, right? When you take Chun Ya and Xiao Tian back, you should also go and see them."

Then she looked at Chun Ya and said, "Remember not to come empty-handed. Be diligent when you get to your in-laws' house."

Mr. Chen nodded in agreement: “Your mother is right.”

Chun Ya glanced at Huai Zhi: "I understand."

Later, when Ji Huaizhi was in the village, some students would bring their homework to him and ask him questions, and Ji Huaizhi would patiently answer them.

"Ji Xiaotian, my brother went to talk to your dad about something. Your dad is really amazing; he knows everything."

"Yeah, and your dad even buys you toys and comic books. My dad never does that for me. I'm so envious of you."

When Ji Xiaotian heard them say that, he felt a little strange. Was his father really that powerful?

"I wish your dad was my dad."

Hearing his friend's words, Ji Xiaotian was a little unhappy: "You have your own father, why would you need someone else's father?"

Chen Xiao looked up: "Brother Xiaotian, what Brother Zhuzi meant was that he admires you and is making a hypothetical scenario. He doesn't really want to steal your dad."

"I know," Ji Xiaotian said, then got up to go back.

"Brother Xiaotian, where are you going?" Chen Xiao asked, puzzled.

"It's not fun, I want to go home." Ji Xiaotian used to always be alone.

That year, people said that his father didn't want him anymore or was bullying him, so Ji Xiaotian stopped wanting to play with others.

Now that his father is back, the village children are all willing to play with him when they hear he's going to the city, and he suddenly feels bored again.

When I ran to the gate of my own yard, I bumped into my mother, who was blushing.

"Why isn't Xiaotian playing with his friends?" Chen Chunya was startled.

"This isn't fun, Mom, why is your face so red?"

Chen Chunya changed the subject: "Then go play with your dad, he's home." Then she walked out.

Ji Xiaotian went inside in confusion and found his father standing in the yard.

"Xiao Tian is back?" Ji Huaizhi patted his head.

The sensation made Ji Xiaotian feel a little awkward: "Hmm."

Will you argue with your mom about other women in the future?

Ji Huaizhi was taken aback, thinking that he had heard rumors from the villagers before: "No, Dad will not hurt you because of outsiders."

Ji Xiaotian looked into his eyes, and for some reason, he believed him.

"If my mom and I go to the city with you, will you kick us out? If we encounter human traffickers, will you come to our rescue?"

Ji Huaizhi saw the unease in his eyes.

She wondered if he was having a dream: "No, you won't encounter human traffickers. Dad will protect you and Mom."

Ji Xiaotian's eyes were a little moist, and his tone of voice changed: "I had a dream."

“My mom and I went to the city to find you, but you told us to get lost because of an aunt. Then my mom and I encountered human traffickers on the train. It was so scary.”

As he spoke, Xiaotian became so sad that he wanted to cry.

Ji Huaizhi thought to himself, "As expected, I dreamt about my past life."

Ji Xiaotian suddenly felt weightless; it turned out that Ji Huaizhi had picked him up.

"Dad promises you that what you described will never happen, and Dad will never hurt you or Mom for anyone."

Hearing him say that made Ji Xiaotian feel much more at ease.

He wiped away his tears and held out his little finger: "Pinky promise."

Ji Huaizhi smiled and made a pinky promise with him.

"Is Ji Zhiqing coaxing the child?" Standing at the door was Aunt Lin.

I never expected that Ji Huaizhi, who used to be so impatient, would be so patient in teaching children.

"Aunt Lin, come in and sit down."

Ji Xiaotian felt a little embarrassed when he saw someone come in, and quickly took off Ji Huaizhi's arms.

Ji Huaizhi brought out the pumpkin seeds that Chun Ya had roasted herself, and Aunt Lin could tell at a glance that she wanted to see him about something.

"No need to pour water, no need to pour water. It's just a small matter. My daughter-in-law just gave birth, and we haven't even named our grandson yet. We were just thinking that you're the only college graduate in our village, aren't you?"

"I want you to name my grandson."
