Chapter 15: Educated Youth Abandoning Their Wives and Children
After Ji Huaizhi returned, Chun Ya packed up her things.
"Let's go, it's all done." Chen Chunya held the things and gestured for Huaizhi to hold the child.
After picking up Xiaotian, she took the heavy things from Chun Ya's hands as well: "We'll take the bus directly and come back after dinner tonight. I've already called them."
Chen Chunya looked at his left hand, which was carrying the things, and nodded with a smile: "I'll listen to you."
The bus was crowded, especially since it's the start of the school year.
They were all crowding in.
"Two adults and one child."
The ticket seller glanced at the child in his hand and tore off two tickets for him: "The child is half price because of his height."
The bus was not only crowded but also had an unpleasant smell. Ji Huaizhi pulled Chun Ya's arm and saw an empty seat on the handrail for her to stand in.
I was holding the child and standing in front of her, which was perfect for protecting her.
"Young man with the child, sit here with me." Someone on the bus gave him their seat.
It was indeed inconvenient for Ji Huaizhi to hold the child in such a crowded situation: "Thank you so much."
"It's okay, I'll get off in a bit. Please don't rush, this is for people with babies," the uncle said to the person next to him.
"Chunya, take the child and sit down. Just give me the things." Ji Huaizhi handed the child to her.

He gave Xiaotian an orange: "Peel an orange for your mom."
Ji Xiaotian pursed his lips and nodded.
Ji Huaizhi handed a few more oranges to the middle-aged man who had given up his seat earlier: "Uncle, take these oranges. Thank you so much. My wife and children will feel a bit better now."
"It's nothing, no need."
In the end, unable to argue further, he accepted it: "You're a very loving husband."
Ji Huaizhi smiled.
When they arrived at their destination, Ji Huaizhi took his son's hand and led him into the tenement building. Chen Chunya was a little nervous, as she was afraid that her in-laws would not approve of her.
"Don't be nervous. My relationship with my family is so-so, and I won't be interacting with them often in the future."
Chen Chunya straightened her son's collar: "You can't say that, after all, they are your parents."
No sooner had he finished speaking than someone greeted Ji Huaizhi: "Isn't this the second son of the Ji family?"
Why didn't you come home for the Chinese New Year this year?
The woman speaking had a somewhat high-pitched voice.
“I went back to the countryside to pick up my wife and kids. Isn’t this why I brought them back to visit?” Ji Huaizhi said calmly.
The woman looked at Chen Chunya: "This is your wife."
The two nodded and greeted each other. The woman then pulled Ji Huaizhi aside and spoke in dialect, which Chun Ya couldn't understand.
"How did you get married in the countryside? Now that you're a college graduate, what kind of wife can't you find?"
Ji Huaizhi put away his smile: "My wife and I have been married for many years, and our child is already so big. I was able to get into university thanks to her and her family's support."
The woman was somewhat surprised by his words, and waved her hand without saying anything more.
After walking for a while, he turned back and muttered, "I didn't expect the Ji family to have such a promising talent."
"It's completely changed since I came back from the countryside."
I'm going to talk to my best friend about this.
"Did your brother say he was coming back today?" Ji's eldest sister-in-law asked her husband.
"He's talking about today. He said he's bringing his wife and kids back to visit. Don't offend anyone the moment you open your mouth, especially when it comes to asking for money," Ji Huai-ren said, sitting in front of the TV.
"I know, I know." Sister-in-law Ji pouted. "I was planning to ask your brother for help during the New Year, but I didn't expect him to spend the New Year at someone else's house."
"Really, don't they have a home?"
While cooking in the hallway, Mrs. Ji heard someone calling her and turned around: "Oh, you're back?"
He was initially happy to see his successful son, but his smile faded when he saw the woman beside him.
"Mom," Chen Chunya called out, then told Xiaotian to greet her as well.
"grandmother."
"Come inside," Ji's mother said, ignoring her.
Ji Huaizhi didn't move: "Someone's calling you. Are you getting old and your hearing isn't what it used to be?"
Mrs. Ji was surprised by her son's words and gave an awkward laugh: "Oh, I just wanted you to go inside and rest."
Remembering there were still vegetables on the stove, she quickly moved the pot away: "Come in, Cui'er, Huai Ren! Your brother is back!"
Upon hearing this, the person inside immediately stood up and said, "Emma, she's here."
"Oh, this must be your sister-in-law? Come in, please."
"Second brother, is this your son all grown up? This is the first time I've seen him; he looks exactly like you when you were little." Ji Huai-ren touched the child's face.
Ji Xiaotian was somewhat displeased.
"Why did you bring so much stuff?" Wang Cui said with a smile as she took the things.
"This is a small gift from my parents, mostly dried goods. I don't know if you can get used to it."
"I can get used to the food."
After the group entered the small room, Wang Cui called her two sons: "Ji Bei and Ji Nan, take your little brother to play!"
The two children glanced at it but didn't move.
"How can we play like this? It's too crowded!"
"Exactly! The place isn't very big to begin with, and now so many people have come!"
Ji Huaizhi frowned, picked up Ji Xiaotian, and whispered something in his ear.
Chen Chunya knew he was up to no good as soon as he saw him.
Ji Huai-ren frowned and criticized his two sons: "What are you saying? This is your second uncle."
"It's alright, just sit here." The room became quite crowded after the group entered.
Wang Cui brought over some peanuts and melon seeds: "Come on, have some, second sister-in-law."
"Thanks."
"What's your son's name? He looks so well-behaved." Wang Cui tried to start a conversation when she sensed the awkward atmosphere: "It's a pity that Auntie doesn't have any candy here."
Ji Nan and Ji Bei looked at their younger brother with hostility.
"No need, Auntie, I have White Rabbit milk candy." With that, Xiao Tian peeled a candy and put it in his mouth.
After seeing this, the two children turned to their mother and asked, "Why does he have candy? And it's White Rabbit candy!"
"We want it too, I want it too."
Xiao Tian blinked innocently: "It's the last one, there aren't any left."
Annoyed by the noise, Wang Cui grabbed each of them and slapped them.
"What are you making a fuss about? If you keep making a fuss, I'll throw you out!" Ji Huai-ren's words were the most effective, and the two children dared not make a fuss anymore.
"Where's the third brother?" Ji Huaizhi remembered that the third brother was still taking the college entrance examination.
He had never taken the exam before, so his family wasn't very happy when he returned as a college student.
Instead, the third brother said that he could never have gotten into university in the countryside, and if he did, why did he come back to show off?
Speaking of the third son, Wang Cui was furious: "He goes to the library every day after breakfast and comes back for meals. You can't count on him at all if anything happens at home."
