Chapter 15: I Took Off My Brother's Green Hat (15)
"Tell me how much you want." He Gaolin tossed the money onto the back seat.
He got into the car, grabbed some tissues to wipe his nosebleed, and said, "Ji Huaijin, it was wrong of me to sleep with your wife, but I'm a man too. It was your wife who seduced me."
Ji Huaijin set up the recording.
He Gaolin was wiping his nosebleed and didn't notice the "ding" sound.
"Tell me, how exactly do you want us to pretend this never happened?" He Gaolin adjusted the rearview mirror.
The face that was hit had obvious abrasions, and there was also a large bump on the head.
Ji Huaijin sneered: "Old He, don't you find what you're saying ridiculous?"
He Gaolin loosened his collar, his tone tinged with guilt: "I'm sorry, just name your price. My wife just gave birth to our second child and is still weak."
He knew Ji Huaijin was an upright person, so he also knew how to speak in a way that would evoke his sympathy.
"I will never look for Feng Wanyi again. I was just out of my mind for a moment."
"I swear to God."
“There’s no need. Whether you look for her or not is none of my business. We’re already going through the divorce process,” Ji Huaijin said calmly. “You don’t need to call me. We don’t need to be friends anymore.”
"Wait a minute," He Gaolin interrupted, "Now that we're already getting a divorce, can you please stop causing me trouble?"
"Promise me, Ji Huaijin, that you won't tell my wife."
"Please," He Gaolin pleaded, "don't come to my house to hand out flyers. My wife really can't stand it."
"And your brother just smashed my car and attacked me, can I just pretend it never happened?"
Ji Huaijin frowned: "Smash the car?"
"Yes, your brother just hit me. I'm willing to give your family money to settle this privately, okay?"
Ji Huaijin hung up the phone immediately. He was planning to send a big gift when he held a full-moon celebration at his home, and he couldn't swallow his anger.
I called Ji Huaizhi: "Where are you?"
"I'm outside." Ji Huaizhi opened a bottle of Coke and exclaimed how refreshing it was.
Ji Huaijin: "Shouldn't you be in class? How come you're arguing with He Gaolin?"
“I ran into him when he came out of Feng Wanyi’s house. I guess the two of them were plotting something, so I gave him a little stern talking-to.”
Ji Huaizhi's tone was smug.
Ji Huaijin pressed his brow, his voice a little loud: "Nonsense."
What if he, a grown man, lays a hand on you?
"Don't worry, he didn't hit me. I was hiding in the shadows."
Ji Huaijin: "Huaizhi, you're still a child. I don't want to involve you in these matters."
“I know you feel sorry for me, but you are still young, and I’m afraid you might do something irreversible.”
Ji Huaizhi: "Then I won't do it."
He agreed so quickly this time that Ji Huaijin didn't even have time to react: "Then go back to school now, and I'll call your teacher."
"I know, I know. He Gaolin called you? You must give him a big gift. He seems to be very afraid of his father-in-law."
Ji Huaizhi reminded him, "If you're not going to do it, then I'll do it."
Ji Huaijin: "You brat, I wouldn't have told you these things if I'd known."
"You have other brothers?"
"No, go to class now, I'll deal with you when I get back." After hanging up the phone, Ji Huaijin transferred money to his younger brother.
[Don't act on your own in the future. Some people can be dangerous if pushed too far. I'm just worried about you, and I know you want to stand up for me, but I'm not someone to be trifled with.]
After thinking about it, he still sent a message to the child.
He was simple-minded; he just wanted to avenge him.

After Feng Wanyi finished her postpartum confinement, she finally had no excuse not to get a divorce.
The two arrived at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Feng Wanyi had clearly lost a lot of weight: "Where's Shushu?"
"So you finally remembered you have a daughter," Ji Huaijin sneered.
Having not seen her for so long, Ji Huaijin felt no emotion whatsoever upon seeing her this time.
It's like looking at a stranger.
Knowing that the outcome was unchangeable, Feng Wanyi also knew that dragging things out like this was pointless.
Feng Wanyi didn't care about the man's sarcastic remarks: "Wait a minute."
Just as Ji Huaijin was about to go in, he was stopped. The woman said coldly, "Since it's a divorce, we haven't discussed the division of property yet, have we?"
Feng Wanyi looked up at him.
Ji Huaijin: "I used to give you a living allowance every month, and you must have a considerable amount of money in your savings. I'm already being very polite by not taking it back."
"I'll give you the house and the child, and you give me some money in return." Feng Wanyi negotiated without any hesitation.
"Give me the money, and we'll go in and get our divorce certificate right now."
Ji Huaijin looked at her without saying anything.
Feng Wanyi saw something else in his eyes and turned her head away to avoid his gaze.
"He Gaolin will get a divorce later, are you sure you want to keep dragging this on with me?"
Ji Huaijin's words made Feng Wanyi look up.
He continued, "I can't give you any more money. You know I've already done more than enough for you."
"Why didn't you say that your brother was handing out flyers in our neighborhood? I've said it before, your brother is no good. I wasn't planning on asking for money before, this is for compensation for emotional distress."
Feng Wanyi's voice was melodious, but her words were extremely sharp and sarcastic.
"Ugh... cough cough."
"What are you doing? Have you gone mad, Ji Huaijin?"
Feng Wanyi's neck was suddenly gripped, and she felt the hand on her neck tightening, making it difficult for her to breathe.
"Let go!"
Ji Huaijin: "I've told you many times, don't insult my family. Are you really asking for it?"
"He went to your neighborhood to hand out flyers, why don't you mention that your mother and brother came to my house and caused trouble?"
"Feng Wanyi, do you really think I'm a fool?"
Although his hand was on her neck, he still looked calm and composed.
Only the feeling of shortness of breath reminded her that the man in front of her was very angry.
This was the first time Feng Wanyi had ever seen him angry.
"Let go."
"Let go!"
Feng Wanyi hit his hand hard, but he didn't react.
Finally, when she could no longer hold on, Ji Huaijin let go.
Just then, someone nearby asked what was going on: "What are you doing?"
Feng Wanyi took a deep breath, her eyes filled with other emotions as she looked at him, and tears welled up in her eyes: "This is the first time you've ever laid a hand on me."
After lowering her head and composing herself, she said with difficulty, "I want a divorce."
"Ji Huaijin, I'm leaving."
The two were sitting inside when a staff member noticed the strangulation marks on Feng Wanyi's neck: "Do you need any help, ma'am?"
Feng Wanyi shook her head.
The other party assumed that Ji Huaijin was a domestic abuser, so the divorce proceedings were expedited, and they didn't even consult a mediator.
Both of them were somewhat dazed when they received the divorce certificate.
It seems to remind me of when they got their marriage certificate.
"Ji Huaijin".
Feng Wanyi called out to him, and Ji Huaijin stopped in his tracks.
"sorry."
Upon hearing those three words, Ji Huaijin closed his eyes briefly: "So?"
"What do you think these three words represent?"
"Can I visit my daughter in the future?"
Ji Huaijin did not answer the question. Feng Wanyi watched his retreating figure as the couple parted ways.
He didn't go back after getting the divorce certificate.
Instead, he called home and made an excuse that he was busy, but in reality he was drinking at his old house.
Scenes flashed through my mind, and I didn't know what to feel.
The moment I received the divorce certificate, I felt only sorrow in my heart.
The phone rang.
I picked it up and saw it was a picture of my younger brother Ji Huaizhi's daughter sleeping: [You're only allowed to be sad for one night. Don't even think about leaving the child with me.]
Upon seeing his brother's message, Ji Huaijin smiled; it wasn't actually that bad.
I just left a bad person, but now I'm surrounded by good people.
The Ji family breathed a sigh of relief after the divorce.
It seems they didn't expect the divorce to be so simple. After all, the Feng family had been so difficult to deal with before, and they thought it would drag on for a long time.
