Chapter 15 Transmigrated as a Little Bitter Gourd 15
After Tang Juan appeased her mother, she took them out to eat. Ji Dong couldn't come, so he had to bring the food back with him.
Ji Xianli didn't want to eat with that little thing, and Tang Juan kept knocking on the door but no one answered, so she had no choice but to say that she would also pack some food to take back with her father.
As soon as they stepped out the door, Tang's mother began to complain that she and her husband had not raised their child well.
"Your son is so rude. He didn't even call me 'Grandma' when I arrived. He even called your brother's child a little bastard." Tang's mother still held a grudge.
"How could that be? Did Kaisheng offend Xianli?" Tang Juan was definitely on her son's side.
"What do you mean by that? You're looking down on your brother's child?" Tang's mother questioned him directly.
"Your family is really interesting."
"Mom," Tang Juan didn't want to argue with her about this, "Who dislikes Kaisheng? Let's not talk about this anymore."
"You've just arrived, so take a rest today. I usually go to work, so you just need to help with cooking and cleaning at home. You don't need to do anything else."
"Do you think cooking and cleaning are too little work?" Tang's mother retorted.
She wouldn't have come at all if it weren't for the salary she was paid.
"But I told you on the phone that it's just cooking and stuff, and cleaning is just sweeping the living room." Tang Juan felt that her mother was so annoying for the first time.
"Okay, okay, I'm starving, hurry up and order the food," Tang's mother said dismissively.
She turned to her grandson and said, "Kaisheng, tell your aunt what you want to eat. Your aunt is doing well in the city now."
Tang Juan rolled her eyes, casually ordered two dishes, and asked the waiter to pack another portion to go when they were almost finished eating.
"Why bother packing it up? Just take the leftovers home. It's a waste," Tang's mother muttered.
“Your son-in-law has injured his leg. If he only packs up leftovers to take home, he’ll definitely get angry.”
"Hmph, so dramatic!" Tang's mother pouted. "Your son is so fat, he should eat less."
Tang Juan didn't say anything.
She's unhappy if others say something about her own child, even if it's her biological mother.
But she needs Tang's mother's help now, so she keeps quiet.
"Juanwa, if you ask me to cook, you have to pay for the food too, so it won't be so troublesome to pay me every month," Tang's mother said during the meal.
Tang Juan looked up: "Didn't you say it would be five thousand yuan a month? Does that include the cost of groceries?"
"Five thousand?" Tang's mother's voice was loud: "With so many people in our family, will there be any left over after buying groceries?"
Tang Juan: "So you've come here to make money, Mom?"
"What's the point of me coming here if you don't give me money?"
Tang's mother felt she had done nothing wrong: "I might as well just stay at home and enjoy my leisure."
"How many do you want?" Tang Juan asked impatiently.
"Give me at least another five thousand."
Tang Juan was shocked by her mother's words: "That's ten thousand! Why would I need so much? You can't treat me like a sucker!"
"How dare you talk like that? I'm here to cook for your family, and you can't leave leftovers or be filial to me?"
Tang Juan also got angry: "I'll give you another three thousand at most, but you must make sure the food at home isn't bad. If you still think it's not enough, then I'll have to buy you a ticket back home."
"Fine, fine, three thousand it is, I'll make you stingy to death." Tang's mother said impatiently.
Tang Juan saw that she agreed immediately and inwardly berated herself for saying too much.
Actually, another two thousand would be enough.
Ji Dong won't recover for long. He mainly cooks for his son. Giving 8,000 yuan a month is too much, especially since they still have a mortgage to pay.
If Ji Dong finds out, they'll definitely argue again.
"Don't let Ji Dong know about this, or we'll end up arguing again."
Tang's mother picked up some meat for her grandson, and rolled her eyes at her daughter:
"I know, you're so spineless."
Then she asked about her father-in-law: "Didn't you say your father-in-law came to the city? Why haven't I seen him?"
"Has your family really broken up?"
"Don't even mention it, it makes me angry just thinking about him, and my unfilial son Ji Huaizhi too." Tang Juan still felt angry when she talked about them.
"They really know how to raise children. Luckily, I didn't send Xianli back to the village back then; I took him with me."
"I haven't seen you bring anything particularly nice." Tang's mother never gave her any face.
Tang's mother really didn't like that grandson.
After returning home, Tang Juan asked Xianli and Ji Dong to come out for dinner.
While resting at night, Ji Dong asked her, "How much do you pay your mother to cook for you each month?"
Tang Juan tilted her head: "Didn't I already say that?"
"Five thousand yuan, including grocery shopping and cooking."
Ji Dong sighed, "Every day, I'm spending money without making any money."
"It'll only be for this period of time." Tang Juan wiped her face and went to bed.
Ji Dong is thinking, "If I had known that when my dad asked me for money before, I would have just let them move back. There would have been someone to cook and someone to look after the kids."
"Have you seen Xianli? How much weight has he gained since we had that accident?"
“Your mother brought her grandson over again, and she has no time to help us look after the child. All she cares about is her grandson.”
Tang Juan didn't see anything wrong with it, after all, her child was her grandson: "What's the problem?"
"It's already a blessing that my mom could come and help."
She doesn't want her father-in-law, Ji Huaizhi, to come back.
“I don’t want to see that unfilial son. Bringing him back will only make us angrier.”
"Xianli is so cute when he's chubby. It's okay if he's a little chubby. He looks blessed."
Ji Dong didn't want to say anything more; there was no point in saying so much.
He would be furious if he saw Ji Huaizhi.
"Go to sleep, Xianli is going to school tomorrow."
~
Today is the first time I'm cooking here, and Tang's mother got up early to fry eggs and cook congee.
When Ji Dong got up and moved around, his complexion improved considerably.
"Mom, so early? Is Kaisheng still sleeping?"
Tang's mother: "My grandson has to go to school today, so I have to make it early. Kaisheng is growing and sleeps a lot, so let him sleep and just leave him a bowl of porridge."
Tang Juan raised an eyebrow at Ji Dong.
He quickly drank a bowl of porridge, ate an egg, and left.
"Then I'll be going now. If you're bored, you can take Kaisheng to the nearby parks for a walk."
"I understand," Tang's mother replied.
Then he urged Ji Dong to eat quickly: "After you finish eating, go back to your room and rest."
Ji Dong was about to move around in the living room when he heard his mother-in-law's words and nodded.
When Ji Dong returned to his room, Tang's mother took out the contents of the pot that were covered since he hadn't come out.
It consisted of two fried eggs and a bowl of meat porridge, with chopped green vegetables added.
It was much more appetizing than the plain porridge they had just eaten.
He carefully carried it to the small bedroom: "Kaisheng, come and eat. I'll come get it after you're done."
"Grandma, there's meat in here too." Kaisheng happily started eating, the fried egg was crispy and fragrant.
I couldn't eat anymore after finishing a bowl of meat porridge and a fried egg.
Tang's mother stuffed the remaining fried egg directly into her mouth with her hand: "Grandma saved some good food for you again at noon, okay? When you eat with them in the future, just take a few bites and eat a little bit, okay?"
"Your grandma saved your food separately, so you can't tell anyone."
Kaisheng laughed: "Save all the good food for me."
"Yes, you can have them all."
The grandmother and granddaughter smiled broadly.
She wants to raise her grandson here until he's plump and healthy.
Just like the present-day Xianli.
