Chapter 17 Transmigrated as a Little Bitter Gourd 17
"I'm fat, but I didn't eat your food!" Ji Xianli hates it most when people say he's fat.
"Your mother is my daughter, so I can't even discipline you?" Tang's mother didn't care about any of that.
If someone dares to speak to their elders like that today, they'll dare to lay a hand on them tomorrow.
"You're talking nonsense! You ate all the meat in my house. After you came, we ate worse than pig swill!" Ji Xianli was getting hungry very easily now.
He'd fight anyone who touched his food rations.
"Alright, alright, stop arguing," Tang Juan said, knowing her son's temper was too bad. "Xianli, you can't talk to your grandmother like that."
"What kind of talk is this?"
Seeing that he was about to call out to Tang Juan again, she said, "If you call out again, I'll starve you for two days."
Ji Xianli immediately shut up, and Tang Juan pulled him into the room: "I'll go teach him a lesson, you guys eat first."
Tang's mother thought that was more like it.
But he kept talking: "Still feeding pigs? You're practically turning into a pig, you know that?"
After sitting down, he picked at his food and said, "What's wrong with eating this? The experts all said to eat less."
Ji Dong sighed: "Mom, starting tomorrow I'll have Tang Juan buy all the groceries for the house. I know you older folks are used to being frugal and reluctant to buy things."
"That won't do. What's wrong with these dishes?" Tang's mother said unhappily.
If we don't let her buy vegetables and meat in the future, how will she make a profit from the price difference?
"Do you think I'm taking your money for groceries and don't want me to buy them?" Tang's mother had lived most of her life and had developed a thick skin.
She wouldn't feel embarrassed even if she got caught.
"What are you saying?" Ji Dong really wanted his leg to get better soon.
He didn't want to live under the same roof as his mother-in-law.
This is so annoying.
"What did I say? I said what's on your mind." Tang's mother began to wipe away tears, feeling wronged.
“I’d rather go back. You all complain that I’m not doing well and think I’m taking advantage of you. I’m so old and I still have to live with your attitude.”
"I might as well go back tomorrow."
"Waaaaah, I was perfectly fine back home, and you all made me come here to help. After I helped you, you still think I didn't do a good job. I'm just being a masochist."
"Waaaaaah~"
Ji Dong's face turned completely dark.
He hasn't said anything yet.
Tang Juan said a few words of advice to her son in the room, and then gave him 100 yuan to order takeout himself.
“Your maternal grandmother is your mother’s mother. You’re being very disrespectful to her.” She turned to her son and said.
Tang Xianli turned around again: "So what's wrong?"
“I saw him secretly buying snacks for that Tang Kaisheng. He was even afraid I would fight with him for them. He keeps saying I'm fat. I'm so annoyed by him and that Tang Kaisheng.”
"Alright, that's enough." Tang Juan frowned. "Who told you to be my grandson?"
"Don't talk to your grandma like that again. I'm not kidding you."
After saying that, she heard a noise outside and got up again: "You stay in the room, Mom will go out and check."
After Tang Juan went outside, she saw her mother crying, and Ji Dongsheng sitting listlessly at the dining table.
He gestured to her with his eyes, signaling her to quickly comfort him.
"Mom, what's wrong now?"
Ji Dong ate a couple of bites but found it uninteresting, so he got up and went back to his room to let them talk about it themselves.
What he didn't notice was that Tang Kaisheng was looking at his disabled leg with disgust.
"What do you think is wrong with me?" Tang's mother stopped pretending once the person left.
Tang's mother sneered, "Your family is really something else."
"Isn't it because you went too far? Ji Dong may know you, but I know you too well!" Tang Juan looked at the table full of food: "I give you eight thousand a month, and this is what you give us to eat?"
Don't you think you've gone too far?
Tang's mother: "I have the money, I can buy whatever I want."
"Then I won't give it to you. I'll just buy the groceries myself, and you can just cook the meal." Tang Juan told her to take out the remaining money for the groceries.
But Tang's mother would never agree: "Get lost! I'm not going to give back the money that's in my pocket!"
"I'll just lock you both up."
Tang Juan asked helplessly, "Mom! What are you doing?"
"Our family is going through a tough time right now, aren't you just taking advantage of our misfortune?"
"Eat it or don't, I'm your mother. What can you do if I beat you to death?" Tang's mother's expression changed instantly: "It's just eight thousand yuan."
"They've even come to rob us."
"Look at us, we've been here for days, and you haven't even offered to take your nephew to buy some clothes or give him a red envelope or anything."
"I've really wasted my time raising you."
Tang Juan: "I think you're just taking advantage of me. Once Ji Dong is better, you should all go back home as soon as possible!"
Tang's mother snorted coldly: "Then I'm not leaving. You think you can kick me out?"
Tang Juan was so angry with her that she died.
Is this her biological mother?
Is this an enemy?
"How can you be so biased? You only know how to take from me, but you only know how to subsidize my older brother." Tang Juan's tone was somewhat aggrieved.
Tang's mother didn't care: "So what if I'm biased?"
"I admit I'm biased, but aren't you biased too?"
Tang's mother pursed her lips: "Don't think I don't know. Your eldest son has always been left in your hometown. Now that you've brought him here, you've kicked your father-in-law and that son out. I'm not like you."
"I admit I'm biased, but there's nothing I can do about it. You're like water spilled from a bowl, you're done with it."
Tang Juan stared wide-eyed: "Mom? Are you kidding me?"
"I didn't mean anything by it. Isn't it your family that's causing trouble?" Tang's mother said, getting up.
Let her wash the dishes herself.
Tang Juan suddenly realized that calling her mother over was a mistake.
When I was about to wash the dishes, I lifted the pot lid and found a large bowl of rice and vegetables inside, with quite a few chunks of meat. It was clearly meant to be eaten secretly.
Tang Juan was so angry when she saw it that she threw the pot lid aside.
She never expected her mother to actually do it.
Just then, Tang's mother arrived: "How could I have forgotten this? My little grandson needs nutrition right now."
After picking up the bowl, seeing Tang Juan looking at him with that kind of gaze, and seeing her blocking his way, he stuck his butt out:
"Get out of the way, what are you looking at?"
Tang Juan watched her go in, so angry that she bit her lip until it bled.
When Tang's mother came out after her grandson finished eating, she happened to see Ji Dong coming out of Ji Xianli's room.
I didn't eat enough for dinner, so I ate some of my son's takeout.
Seeing the empty bowl in his mother-in-law's hand, with obvious traces of grease at the bottom, he still understood everything:
"No wonder he eats so little when he eats with us and still gains weight."
His tone carried a hint of sarcasm.
Tang's mother was a little guilty when she faced her son-in-law: "Kaisheng is still growing."
"Xianli is too fat. If he keeps eating..."
