Chapter 18 Son of Sin 18
"Why should I move out?" Ji Huaizhi asked them in return.
"Because your dad's leg is broken now, and you're still so young, wouldn't you and your father be taking advantage of our family in the future?" The eldest child understood this point.
"That's right, from now on you'll be eating and living at our house."
“That’s not how it works. This plot of land doesn’t belong to your second branch of the family, and the money for building the house…” Ji Huaizhi glanced at them:
"Your parents farm every day, and I'm the one who feeds these sheep after school. Where did this money come from?"
The two brothers exchanged a glance: "Your dad can only lie in bed now. If you're not happy about that, go find your mom!"
"I'm not going." Ji Huaizhi closed the sheepfold door. "At worst, I'll just burn this house down, and nobody will get anything."
"Hey!" the older brother pointed at him, "You're such a bad person!"
"I'll tell them on them in a bit."
"Go ahead, you're all worrying too much. The house isn't even finished yet." Ji Huaizhi suddenly smiled wickedly.
"What if our whole family dies before the house is repaired?"
Erwa tugged at his older brother: "Ignore him, he's just like his mother."
"He's a madman."
"You wait here, I'm going to tell on you right now." The eldest son was about to leave when he suddenly looked at the sheepfold: "Why is one sheep missing?"
In the village, people are very careful about what they say when they are about to do something important.
I'm afraid something unlucky might affect the progress.
When Old Lady Ji heard the two brothers complaining, she was furious.
The couple overheard this and were determined to beat him up, but he had disappeared again.
Ji Erma is the only healthy adult man in the family now, so he's the one who makes the decisions.
It feels so good to be in charge!
That brat is spouting nonsense. When he comes back next time, I'll definitely give him a good beating.
"I told you he was an ingrate, but some people insist he's a golden phoenix."
Er Ma's wife was rolling her eyes so hard they were practically pointing to the sky.
“Let him be a savage outside if he wants; it would be best if he froze to death out there.” Ji Erma also felt it was unlucky: “And then burn it all.”
"If he can come into this family in the future, I will take his surname."
Grandma Ji looked grim. She and her husband hadn't heard the part about how everyone in their family died before the house was repaired.
But she always felt very uncomfortable.
Ji Dama: "If you kick my son out now, will you kick me out next time?"
He's lying in bed looking quite pathetic.
"I think you did this on purpose."
Grandma Ji told him to shut up: "He really needs to be taught a lesson."
"What kind of talk is that?"
Ji Dama lay on the bed, ignoring everything and his son's words.
He hates his family so much because they won't take him to the hospital.
"Mom and Dad, we're missing a sheep from our pen," the older child said. "Did he sell it?"
Upon hearing this, Er Ma's wife rushed to the sheepfold and found that one sheep was indeed missing.
"That little rascal, what about the sheep?"
Grandma Ji didn't think it was sold: "I guess he was scared sleeping alone in the abandoned cave, so he left a sheep to keep him company."
When he was a child, he would sleep with lambs on the kang (a heated brick bed), so it probably wasn't sold.
Ji Huaizhi didn't sell it; he secretly roasted and ate it by himself.
He ate a leg of lamb himself, gave the rest to the fox and Xuanfeng, and then slept soundly in the space all by himself.
It's impossible to go hungry or cold.
The next morning, many people came to repair the house on empty stomachs.
Grandma Ji and Er Ma's wife stirred a pot of dough together.
After they finished eating, they started working. Before starting, Ji Erma wanted to burn an incense stick, but unexpectedly, the incense went out after he finished praying.
The others looked on with some doubt: "The incense you bought isn't of good quality."
Ji Erma also felt it was bad luck: "It's probably damp."
"How did you buy this?" he yelled at his wife.
“How can I buy it? Everyone else is buying the same thing!” Er Ma’s wife frowned as well.
"Alright, let's get started."
"Don't be late." No one took this little incident to heart.
Fortunately, the work went smoothly; they dismantled first and then repaired, attracting onlookers from the surrounding area.
They were huffing and puffing, knocking and digging, while Ji Huaizhi watched from the crowd.
"Oh dear, Sanwa, your mother got what she deserved." Someone saw him and wanted to tease him again: "Look, she just left, and your family is already building a new house."
Ji Huaizhi didn't speak, but Da Wa and Er Wa ran over to him when they saw him:
“This is not his home; it’s our new house that’s being built.”
“You haven’t separated your family yet, so it’s still Sanwa’s home.”
Erwa immediately retorted, "No, this is our house. Once it's fixed, we'll kick him and his dad out!"
The people around them exchanged glances; they hadn't expected this.
It's probably because the adults weren't hiding the child when they were talking.
Ji Erma and his wife are really heartless.
When the others started trying to get information out of the two brothers, the two brothers, being naive, blurted everything out.
They didn't notice what was below while they were chatting.
A gasp was heard, as if someone had fallen.
Who fell?
"I don't know, I didn't see it. I think I heard someone calling Ji Erma."
"You two boys, stop talking and go check on your dad."
The two brothers were stunned, while Ji Huaizhi watched the whole thing unfold.
Ji Erma was holding onto the A-frame ladder, on which stood a person dismantling something. The two were working together quite well, but then Ji Erma's foot, which he had injured yesterday, started hurting again.
The A-frame ladder wobbled because it wasn't held steady.
The person on top lost their footing and scattered the dismantled parts all over the ground. The A-frame ladder collapsed, and the person was pulled down by it.
Ji Erma tried to hold onto the A-frame ladder, but he and the ladder both fell down.
Everyone rushed over to check when they saw it.
"Is he alright?"
"What's going on? He can't even hold onto a ladder properly."
Er Ma's wife was watching the commotion from a short distance away, but when she heard her husband fall, she rushed over.
Everyone thought the fall wasn't serious and wanted to help the two up.
But as he got a little older, he noticed the person standing on the stairs had bulging eyes, and his expression changed: "Don't touch him!"
"Sanquan!" he shouted.
But the person lying on the ground didn't react at all.
"What's wrong? Why don't you want us to help you up?" someone asked, puzzled.
Suddenly someone shouted in terror, "Blood! Sanquan is bleeding a lot from his head!"
The blood flowing from the back of Sanquan's head soaked the yellow earth, scaring everyone into taking a step back.
Er Ma's wife originally wanted to go see her husband, but when she heard the commotion, she came over to check.
It felt like a blow to my heart: "What's going on?"
"Wasn't it just house repairs? How did it end up resulting in a death?"
"Still asking!" The older person, however, remained calm: "Quickly, call a car and take him to the hospital!"
"Is there any point in sending it? It seems to have run out of breath."
Everyone was making a ruckus, and someone saw it and immediately ran to Sanquan's house to inform his family.
It just so happens that Sanquan's mother was also watching the commotion from up there.
Her eyesight wasn't very good, but she heard someone shout that Ji Erma had fallen.
Unexpectedly, someone told her that her son had fallen.
Everyone's attention was focused on San Quan, and no one noticed that Ji Er Ma's expression was also off.
It was Erwa and Sanwa who ran over and nudged their father, and he immediately turned his head away.
A nail was inserted into the sun's pore.
The two children immediately burst into tears, and Sanquan's mother could also be heard crying.
Others noticed the child crying and realized that Ji Erma hadn't gotten up yet.
"Ji Erma?" Upon closer inspection, the iron nail on Ji Erma's head was very obvious, making him look so eerie.
