Chapter 18 The master's farmhand carried away the concubine brought for good luck.
Baozhu lifted the curtain and jumped down first.
When I was about to help Sister Song, Brother Ji beat me to it.
"Wasn't my brother-in-law talking to the waiter?"
"It's like he has eyes in the back of his head."
Song Jiao found it amusing.
This precious pearl.....
Ji Huaizhi raised an eyebrow: "Are you talking badly about me?"
Baozhu turned her head, indicating that she hadn't said anything.
After the three rested for a while, the waiter brought up the food.
Song Jiao and Baozhu's eyes lit up when they saw the table full of dishes.
They walked and stopped along the way, and only when they arrived here did they truly relax.
"What kind of dishes are these?" Baozhu exclaimed with wide eyes, "They're so exquisite!"
"This dish is Squirrel Mandarin Fish. The fish used is mandarin fish from Taihu Lake. It is crispy and fragrant with a slightly sweet and sour taste."
Song Jiao was also surprised: "Sweet and sour fish?"
Seeing that they were all from out of town, the waiter introduced the product: "Yes, this is honey-glazed ham. It's made by simmering it in honey wine until it's extremely tender."
"This is Eight Treasure Duck, filled with eight kinds of ingredients including glutinous rice, shrimp, lotus seeds, and ham."
"This is lotus seed and cherry meat."
"There's also a fish lung soup, which is incredibly delicious."
Baozhu looked in one direction, her expression somewhat troubled: "So, we have to eat this insect that looks like a giant spider too?"
Song Jiao pursed her lips; she hadn't seen it either.
It looks a bit scary.
"These are our famous freshwater hairy crabs. These three are a gift from our boss to the three of you." The waiter took out a three-piece set: "This is for dismantling the crabs. Please enjoy."
He remembered that the important person had said he didn't like to be disturbed.
Seeing their troubled expression as they looked at the "big bug," Ji Huaizhi picked one up.
"Let's eat first, we've been starving for so long."
Baozhu won't hold back now either.
I tried the squirrel-shaped mandarin fish first.
Her eyes lit up: "Sister, this fish is delicious!"
Song Jiao first placed a piece of fish in Ji Huaizhi's bowl, and then tasted it herself. The sweet and sour fish was indeed very delicious.
Then their eyes fell on Ji Huaizhi's hands.
He was skillfully dismantling the crab.
Place the crab roe and crab meat on a plate, and soon you'll see a pile of shells in front of you.
“Eating these bugs is quite troublesome.” Baozhu also took one, imitating Ji Huaizhi.
Ji Huaizhi placed the shredded crab meat in front of Song Jiao: "Try it, it tastes pretty good."
"Have you been here before?" Song Jiao asked curiously.
It seemed that every time they arrived at a new location, Ji Huaizhi would seamlessly integrate into the place.
"No, but I've heard that we used to have small crabs in our countryside, but they weren't this big or had this much meat."
Song Jiao tasted the crab roe and found it a bit hard to get used to, but the texture was quite unique.
Baozhu liked it very much.
She was no longer afraid of the insect.
After the meal, the three of them did not go out.
After traveling for so long, I still want to rest.
The next morning, the three of them ate braised pork noodles and went out for a stroll. Ji Huaizhi gave the waiter a tip and asked him to keep an eye out for anyone selling their house.
After seeing this, Song Jiao lowered her eyes and pondered deeply.
When she returned, she knocked on Ji Huaizhi's door.
"Still not resting?" Ji Huaizhi poured her a glass of water.
"I heard you say you wanted to buy a courtyard? When I left the Jia family mansion, I took a lot of jewelry and silver notes..." Song Jiao was actually a little embarrassed when she said this.
After all, she avoided the Jia family like the plague, yet she took their money.
"Don't worry about that, I have some here."
Song Jiao asked curiously, "Where are you from?"
"Where do you think the treasures that the Jia family lost went?" Ji Huaizhi didn't hide anything from him.
Song Jiao's eyes widened: "That's not a thief."
Ji Huaizhi: "Don't worry, the Jia family's possessions were obtained by plundering the people. I didn't keep all of those treasures. Apart from the ones that the people took before, the rest were distributed to charitable organizations and some people when I left clues."
Song Jiao clicked her tongue in amazement: "Just how rich is the Jia family?"
Ji Huaizhi thought for a moment and said, "They are richer than we imagined. After they disperse, the city's economy will improve a lot."
Song Jiao chuckled: "I thought you were a thief before."
"I never expected you to be a Robin Hood-like figure who robs the rich to help the poor."
Ji Huaizhi touched her smooth, porcelain-like face: "If I were a thief, would you still dare to come with me?"
Song Jiao leaned into his arms, her eyes filled with provocation: "I don't care what you do outside, I only know that you're good to me."
"You're good to me, of course I'll go with you."
Ji Huaizhi sniffed her scent: "Silly girl."
After the three moved, Song Jiao renamed Baozhu as Song Baozhu.
They publicly claimed that the two were biological sisters.
She and Ji Huaizhi were newlyweds.
A newlywed couple, along with their younger sister, settled in an unfamiliar place, and something felt off.
Fortunately, people in Suzhou are more accepting of this.
After moving, Ji Huaizhi and Baozhu still decorated the new house and had an embroiderer embroider their wedding dress. The two did not invite any other guests and simply held a wedding ceremony.
After all, Song Jiao still harbors resentment about what happened in the past.
She was dressed in light red when she entered the Jia mansion, and was carried in through a side gate.
Ji Huaizhi didn't want her to be trapped by the idea of a formal marriage.

"Madam Song, are you also going to deliver food to your husband?" The neighbors around her saw her slightly protruding belly as she walked towards the field.
"Yes, your harvest looks pretty good." Song Jiao greeted everyone with a smile.
He looks very fortunate.
"This year is great, the baby in your belly came at just the right time."
"By the way, I haven't seen your sister lately?" the woman asked curiously.
“Baozhu finds everything fascinating; she’s probably been watching people catch crabs lately,” Song Jiao chuckled.
"Baozhu is not young anymore, you can talk about marriage now," the woman reminded her meaningfully.
Song Jiao understood what she meant: "Our Baozhu is still young, there's no rush."
“My husband treats her like a younger sister, and we’re thinking of finding her a good, upright man.”
"Yes, we women have to be careful when choosing a husband, right? But Baozhu has been going to the crab fields a lot lately, and that's when the crabs are at their most ferocious."
"You'd better keep a close eye on things," the woman said, stopping short of saying anything more.
Song Jiao seemed to be deep in thought.
Ji Huaizhi's trousers were rolled up to his knees, and his calves were covered in dirt.
He took the food his wife brought and immediately put it in his mouth, saying, "What are you thinking about?"
She looked thoughtful.
"I was thinking about Baozhu. Sister Li just told me that she's been going to the crab fields a lot lately." Song Jiao hadn't heard much about it.
“That kid’s family owns several crab fields. I’ve heard that they’re doing quite well.”
Song Jiao listened intently as he asked, "You know?"
"I just found out too."
"That kid has two brothers and a little sister. Baozhu has her eye on the second brother."
"He's rather cunning, and quite clever; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to steal the pearl right under our noses without a word."
Song Jiao chuckled: "What are you talking about? How old is Baozhu? She doesn't understand anything."
Ji Huaizhi sighed, "Wife, Baozhu is already a child at her age."
"That man's family is also practical; they are all hardworking people."
“If Baozhu marries into the family, she won’t be our sister-in-law. She’s not far from us, so we can look after her if anything happens.”
After he finished speaking, Song Jiao nodded: "We'll talk about it after we meet the person."
Song Jiao sat in the courtyard doing embroidery, occasionally touching her belly and saying a few words.
Xuanfeng would look up every now and then.
Everything was peaceful and serene.
Song Jiao's ears twitched, as if she heard Baozhu and the others' voices.
She put down her needle and thread and stood up.
As soon as Baozhu opened the courtyard gate, she chuckled and said, "Sister, what are you doing standing here? Your brother-in-law will feel sorry for you when he comes back."
Song Jiao looked behind her.
