Chapter 2: After All the Superpowered Individuals in the Class Were Reborn, They All Wanted Me Dead
Ji Huaizhi stared at the sky, as if he were challenging it.
More and more golden light emanated from his body, leaving Lai Chao, who was standing to the side, completely stunned.
What's going on?
At this moment, Ji Huaizhi was like a god.
The thunder outside grew louder and louder, and the zombies downstairs were being struck by lightning and scattered everywhere.
The golden light emanating from Ji Huaizhi stirred up the surrounding air currents, causing the indoor exercise equipment to fly everywhere.
Even the shelves started rolling and collapsing.
Lai Chao couldn't dodge in time and was hit directly by the rack, then thrown away by the airflow.
He couldn't help but scream and shout for help.
Then he was slammed against the wall.
"Ugh!" Lai Chao groaned in pain.
He fell to the ground with a thud: "I... I wasn't bitten to death by the zombies, but you're going to kill me."
With difficulty, he looked up and saw the golden light scattering everywhere before returning to Ji Huaizhi's body.
He winced in pain, then collapsed to the ground unconscious.
The harsh weather outside returned to its previous state when Ji Huaizhi collapsed.
It was as if we had won a battle.
Lai Chao clutched his chest and struggled to his feet, his face still contorted in pain: "Hey! Are you dead?"
I tentatively kicked his fingers with my foot, but to my surprise, he grabbed my ankle the next second: "Ah!"
"Bang!"
Lai Chao didn't know how he was thrown against the wall.
Every part of my body aches.
He opened his eyes groggily, wondering if being bitten by a zombie outside wouldn't be as bad as this.
He struggled to sit up and pushed his jeans up, revealing a very noticeable bruise on his ankle.
He felt even more pain all over his body. If he remembered correctly, Ji Huaizhi did not have any superpowers after he died in his previous life.
He survived to reach the base entirely because of his cunning and treachery.
But he became a completely different person in this life.
Lai Chao was absolutely certain that this person was not the Ji Huaizhi who had pretended to be dead in his previous life.
Seeing him lying unconscious on the ground, I didn't dare to touch him at all.
Just then, a familiar voice came from outside: "Hey? Wasn't Chaozi bitten around here in his past life? Where is he? Did he get eaten?"
"I'm here!" He struggled to open the door for them. "I'm here, it's so scary!"
The two people outside asked in confusion, "You weren't reborn? Is this your first time seeing a zombie?"
Lai Chao shook his head: "They're not zombies, they're people who are even more terrifying than zombies."
The two men looked grave: "What is it? Does this mean there's already a zombie king?"
"It's Ji Huaizhi!"
Lai Chao shouted with all his might, "Waaaaah, it's so scary!"
The two stared in disbelief at the person lying in the equipment room: "He has superpowers now?"
One of the men wearing glasses spoke up: "It's not important, let's ignore him and go meet up with the rest of the class."
"We won't kill him; let him fend for himself here."
Lai Chao was stunned, but he opened the door for the first time in his life.
"What? You're going to stay here with him?" The bespectacled man sneered. "It's all been restarted, are you going to make the same mistake again?"
“No, Xie Jiaqiang, listen to me, we are different after we are reborn.” Lai Chao said, “Ji Huaizhi is different too, he is not the Ji Huaizhi of the previous life.”
Xie Jiaqiang adjusted his glasses; he had just encountered zombies on his way to find Lai Chao.
There was a little bit of blood on the glasses.
"What nonsense are you talking about? Are you leaving or not?" Xie Jiaqiang said impatiently, "I will never forget how he pushed my girlfriend into the mouth of a zombie to save himself."
"I'm already being kind by not killing him."
Seeing Xie Jiaqiang's anger, another person nearby advised, "There's no need to argue over someone who's about to die. Let's go and join them. Isn't it all starting over?"
Lai Chao lowered his eyes and nodded.
He was helped out by his two brothers.
After taking a couple of steps, he turned back: "Aren't you going to close the door? What if there are zombies..."
Upon hearing this, Chen Peng turned around and opened the door even wider.
"Yeah, what if the zombies don't see him? Open the door wider."
Lai Chao was speechless: "Are you afraid he won't die fast enough?"
Chen Peng helped him continue walking: "That's right, we made him die too late in our past lives. That's why our team ended up with just the three of us."
"If he had died sooner, maybe the rest of our team could have lived."
Lai Chao pursed his lips and stopped after walking for a while: "I feel like this won't work. Something's really wrong. He's really not the Ji Huaizhi from my past life. I just had contact with him."
Xie Jiaqiang: "You want to save him?"
Lai Chao shook his head: "He saved me. I've never been bitten by a zombie in my life. He opened the door."
Chen Peng leaned closer: "Oh yeah, you're not disfigured."
“We have memories of our past lives, what if he does too?” Xie Jiaqiang was wary.
"He saved you on purpose, knowing that even if you were bitten by a zombie, it wouldn't matter."
"Brother Qiang, believe me, they really are different. You know that strange wind and lightning just now? That was caused by him. They are so different. If you saw them, you would understand what I mean."
“If he wasn’t Ji Huaizhi in his past life, and I abandoned him after he saved me, I feel uncomfortable.”
Lai Chao tilted his head and slumped his shoulders, clearly indicating that he didn't want to abandon Ji Huaizhi.
Xie Jiaqiang adjusted his glasses again: "Then take him with you?"
"I don't think it will work. I just touched him and I flew out," Lai Chao said.
Just then, a zombie appeared in front of them. Xie Jiaqiang threw a piece of ice directly at the zombie's forehead, and then the zombie fell down.
"Chen Peng, go and bring them all to the equipment room. The zombies are all moving slowly at this time."
"You could be killed with a single blow, so be careful when you go over there."
Chen Peng nodded and patted Lai Chao on the shoulder. "Alright, Great Father!"
"You've seen so many dead people, and you still feel uncomfortable abandoning an ingrate?" Chen Peng muttered speechlessly as he spoke.
The two returned to the equipment room.
At this moment, a pale yellow bird stood beside Ji Huaizhi.
It glanced at the two of them with disdain; its eyes didn't look like those of a bird.
Lai Chao forbade him from getting close to Ji Huaizhi.
"It's very strange, don't go."
Xie Jiaqiang frowned: "Is this a parrot? It doesn't look like one."
"You'll understand what I mean when he wakes up."
Ji Huaizhi lay down alone in an open space, while the others gathered around and talked.
Five people were reborn, and all five of them were people with superpowers. The others who were not people with superpowers were not reborn.
Besides Xie Jiaqiang's ice-type ability, Lai Chao's fire-type ability, and Chen Peng's earth-type ability.
There's also Tang Baomu and Li Xinshui, a female classmate in the same department.
Although their superpowers weren't the strongest, they were the most united once they arrived at the base.
In this lifetime, they want to take their surviving classmates to the base together.
Of course, except for Ji Huaizhi.
"Does that mean everyone in our class except the five of you is dead?" The speaker was Xie Jiaqiang's girlfriend, Feng Qiao.
"Not really. Li Xin and I both died in the end. Ji Huaizhi almost got bitten by a zombie and pushed you out to take the hit for him, which is why Brother Qiang hates him so much." Tang Bao directly flicked a thin vine, trying to pierce through Ji Huaizhi.
