Chapter 21 Bad Dad 21
No, this child must be born.
He broke more than just those two fingers and ribs.
Looking at the frightened Zhou Weiyi, he said, "Daughter, your father can't earn money in this state."
“Your mother is pregnant, and this is a difficult time for the family.”
"You're part of the family too, you should do your part, right?"
Zhou Wei shook her head. No, that won't work.
What can she do when she's so young and not even an adult yet?
She just felt that her father's current appearance was really terrifying.
And then there's Mom, who's really worried about her future, and the anxiety in her heart just won't go away.
There was a sudden knock on the door, and I was afraid that those people had returned.
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Zhou Shenghong asked his daughter to open the door.
"Brother Hong, I heard you were in trouble, so I came to see you." It was Zhou Shenghong's old cronies who came in.
He never expected that while everyone else avoided him, his own brother would come to visit him.
Looking at the fruit and milk he was carrying, Zhou Shenghong felt touched.
"Brother, I didn't expect you to still remember me." He felt really warmed, as he had only ever had a drinking and card-playing relationship with this guy before.
"You're being too polite," the man said, putting down his things.
Looking at the messy rental room, he said, "This..."
Zhou Shenghong lay on the sofa, looking worried: "It's just like what you see."
He turned to his daughter and said, "Go and call your mother to come out and boil some water."
Zhou Wei nodded.
"Didn't your sister-in-law remarry? What's going on?" the man asked, looking puzzled.
Zhou Shenghong said awkwardly, "I was dumped by that man."
He couldn't say much more.
Wei Wei came out and glanced at the man. He was dressed plainly and didn't seem like a wealthy person, which made her somewhat disappointed.
But then I thought, a man like Zhou Shenghong wouldn't be a successful friend.
"Seeing that you're having a hard time right now, as your brother, I can't bear to see you suffer." The man took out an envelope: "Take this money and use it for now. Pay me back when you're better off."
Zhou Shenghong, his face filled with emotion, raised his bandaged hand: "Chaozi, I..."
"You really are... sigh!"
Although he looked reluctant, he didn't loosen his grip on the money at all.
Wei Wei glanced back, her eyes flickering.
"I won't say anything more, let's get through this first." Zhang Chao patted him on the shoulder.
Unexpectedly, when his wound was touched, Zhou Shenghong grimaced in pain.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know you had an injury here too."
Zhou Shenghong shook his head, his face flushed, "It's nothing, it's nothing, Chaozi, I really don't know how to thank you."
"They are all icing on the cake, but there are too few who offer help in times of need."
"What...what should I say to my brother?!"
Zhang Chao waved his hand: "Why talk about these things between brothers?"
Wei Wei handed him the water, her gaze gentle.
"Thank you, sister-in-law. Please sit down and rest." Zhang Chao smiled innocently and turned to continue talking to Zhou Shenghong.
"Chaozi, once I'm better, I'll definitely thank you properly."
Zhang Chao waved his hand: "We're all brothers, it's not like you won't give it back to me."
Zhou Shenghong tightened his grip on the money: "I will definitely pay it back, I will when I have the means."
Zhang Chao sat for a while and then said goodbye. Zhou Shenghong asked Wei Wei to see him off. Wei Wei's eyes flashed as she watched the man waving goodbye.
After everyone left, Zhou Shenghong looked at the envelope and his face lit up with a big smile.
"Thank you. He called you just now..." Wei Wei's voice was a little soft.
The man realized what was happening and introduced himself: "My name is Zhang Chao, you can just call me Chaozi, sister-in-law."
"Thank you. I didn't expect him to have such true friends." Wei Wei tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
The man smiled and said, "We're all brothers who hang out together. I've heard Brother Hong mention your wife before."
Wei Wei knew what kind of men he was: "He never said anything good about me, did he?"
"Don't I know him?" Seeing his awkward smile, I knew I had guessed right: "You don't need to call me sister-in-law, you look young, just call me Sister Wei."
“I’ve already divorced him, so I don’t dare accept being called ‘sister-in-law’.”
Zhang Chao: "Sister-in-law, what are you saying? If you need anything, contact me. I'll be going now."
Wei Wei quickly stepped forward: "I really do have something I'd like to ask you for help with."
Zhou Shenghong put the envelope under his pillow; this was all the money the family had left.
"The person is gone?" Zhou Shenghong asked as Wei Wei returned.
"Yes, I'm leaving." Her eyes darted around. "How much money did he lend you?"
Zhou Shenghong pressed down on the pillow: "Not much. Did you come out of there without any money at all?"
"Ji Huaizhi only gave me a card, and that card is now deactivated. He has never given me any cash."
Zhou Shenghong looked toward the bedroom: "This can't go on, the three of us will starve to death."
"Women bring in money quickly, why don't we let the only one..."
"Are you crazy? That's your daughter, how old is she?" Wei Wei's voice rose.
The bedroom door seemed to move slightly.
"Then what should we do? If you weren't pregnant, I would have let you go!" Zhou Shenghong roared even louder.
After Zhang Chao left, he made a phone call and explained his family's situation.
He also told him that Wei Wei had indeed asked for his contact information in private.
He said some things that could be misunderstood.
"Mr. Ji, that's all. What should I do next?"
"Go along with her." The man's voice came from the phone: "Visit Zhou Shenghong often, give him some money occasionally, and let him know that you've recently made a fortune."
Zhang Chao: "Then he'll hold a grudge against me."
"He's a very treacherous person."
The man sneered: "Aren't you plotting against him right now?"
"Alright, that's it. My goal is for you to ruin them both, whatever you do, just don't make it too obvious."
"Otherwise, I can't protect you."
After hanging up the phone, Zhang Chao looked at his phone and shook his head. Zhou Shenghong had offended a rich person, and now he was in big trouble.
Zhou Shenghong still thought this brother was truly loyal and righteous.
They had no idea that the person behind it was Ji Huaizhi.
Wei Wei disagreed with Zhou Shenghong's idea no matter what, because Zhou Weiyi was still her daughter.
Thinking of that group of people who indulge in drinking, gambling, and prostitution, if one of them were to step into that world, he would never be able to get out.
Back in the only bedroom of the rented room, the daughter fearfully clutched Wei Wei's clothes.
"Mom, don't leave me!" Zhou Weiyi cried out in panic.
Although she didn't know how her father wanted her to make money, she didn't trust him.
"You know what your father is thinking?" Wei Wei asked.
“Yes.” Zhou Weiyi nodded with difficulty, tears immediately rolling down her cheeks: “Mom, let’s go beg Uncle Ji. I’ll kneel at their door. I won’t feel wronged anymore.”
"You're overthinking it. No man can accept being cuckolded." Wei Wei placed her hand on her stomach.
How come she didn't know that Ji Huaizhi had undergone sterilization?
Otherwise, she would never have taken this step.
One wrong step leads to another.
"What should I do? The way Dad looks at me is terrifying." Zhou Weiyi was genuinely panicked.
"What can I do? I have to get an abortion first, otherwise the road ahead will only get harder and harder." She thought of the man who had just left.
All we can do is place our hopes on him.
Zhou Shenghong also kept the little money under his pillow tightly under his pillow. Whenever Wei Wei asked for money, he would ask her very clearly, or he would refuse to give it to her.
