Chapter 22 When the Playboy Turns Over a New Leaf

Chapter 22 When the Playboy Turns Over a New Leaf

Liao Zhuxin paused for a moment, then regained her composure: "What are you talking about? My family assistant, Feng Xiang, told me that she is from the richest family in Y City."

“But no one is kind to someone for no reason,” Wang Mengjiao said, maintaining her skepticism.

"What is her relationship with Ji Huaizhi like?"

Liao Zhuxin lowered her head: "It's not working. I can sense that she doesn't like Huaizhi, and Huaizhi seems to have no feelings for her."

"That Ji Zong doesn't like you as a new friend, but he still allows you to interact. I feel there's something going on."

Liao Zhuxin had thought about it too, but she didn't dare to guess.

"Stop guessing, it's fine as it is." She said, touching her belly and smiling happily.

She no longer cares whether she can find her family.

That's good enough; she already has her own family.

Yang Xi wondered why the other party hadn't responded or called to question her. Was she sulking alone again?

Wang Mengjiao thought for a moment and sent the photos and text messages to Ji Huaizhi. She was a little worried about what would happen if Yang Xi continued to hurt Zhu Xin that day.

A short while later, the other party replied: "Good job. I've blocked your number and will give you a raise."

Wang Mengjiao couldn't hide her joy; she hadn't expected such a surprise.

Ji Huaizhi made one phone call and then ignored the matter.

When Yang Xi finished his part-time job and returned to his old, dilapidated apartment, he was covered in the mouth and dragged into a van before he even entered the building.

She looked at these people in horror: "Who are you?"

"Don't hurt me, I have no money, please let me go."

These people said nothing, but as she saw the car getting further and further away from the city, she became truly frightened: "Let me out, please."

"I'll do anything you want, as long as you don't hurt me."

Her belongings were taken away when she got on the bus, and she kept begging for mercy.

He imagined things like killing before meeting someone, and the buying and selling of organs.

She was really scared.

"Help! Help!"

The thugs remained silent, so she began to call for help. Unexpectedly, one of the men slapped her across the face.

He didn't hold back on that slap.

The blow stunned Yang Xi, and the tinnitus and dizziness made her feel nauseous.

The car drove to a wasteland with nothing but weeds and yellow soil, making it feel like we were far from the city.

This place terrified Yang Xi to the extreme, and he began to convulse in the car.

The man showed no mercy and simply pulled open the van door and dragged her out.

Her thin clothes tore on the stones, and blood seeped directly from her delicate skin. She was so frightened that she couldn't even beg for mercy.

One of the men, wearing a black mask, took her hand and unlocked her phone: "Did you take this photo?"

Upon seeing this, Yang Xi sobbed, wanting to say that she would never dare to do it again, but she couldn't utter a single word.

“My husband gave you a chance before, but he ruined your reputation instead of killing you.”

"But you don't seem to learn from your mistakes at all."

Yang Xi's pupils contracted. Was Ji Huaizhi venting his anger for Liao Zhuxin?

She seemed to realize that if these rich people wanted to crush her, it would be as easy as crushing an ant.

Yang Xi kowtowed, trembling, indicating that he would never dare to do it again.

The man picked up a rock and smashed her phone to pieces; her body trembled with each blow.

It felt as if that huge rock would smash down on my head any second.

“My husband has a thousand ways to kill you if he wants to. Losing one person in Y City won’t cause any ripples.”

After saying that, the group ignored her and got into the van and left.

Yang Xi noticed that the man who had just threatened her had a dagger tucked into his body. Looking down at her crotch, she realized that she had already lost control of her bladder from fright.

She seemed to finally understand what the powerful and wealthy were.

I also realized what kind of person I had offended.

When all the noise stopped, she couldn't help but burst into tears in the dark wasteland. After crying for a few moments, a gust of wind woke her up again.

This place is terrifying; if something happens, probably no one will know.

By the time we reached the highway, it was already dawn.

Ji Huaizhi glanced at the message casually when he received it the next day.

The woman in his arms was restless, setting him ablaze all over.

Ji Huaizhi sighed and held her tightly in his arms.

"Huaizhi, aren't you going to the company today?" Liao Zhuxin looked a little confused and rubbed against him like a kitten.

"I won't go. I'll spend some time with you after I finish my work."

Liao Zhuxin felt a surge of joy upon hearing this; she was getting married soon. She had been feeling particularly stressed lately, and the baby in her belly seemed to sense her unease and was behaving itself.

Nestled in Huaizhi's arms, her stomach began to churn after only a short while.

Ji Huaizhi poured her a glass of water, silently comforting her.

"Huaizhi, I feel so bad." Liao Zhuxin's voice was filled with grievance and sobs as she held his wrist dependently.

"Zhu Xin, you've worked hard." Ji Huaizhi said with heartache.

After he calmed down, Zhu Xin looked at his furrowed brows and reached out to smooth them out: "Actually, it's okay. I feel happier than uncomfortable. Just thinking about the baby in my belly that's for both of us makes me so happy."

“Ji Huaizhi, I finally have family in this world.” Liao Zhuxin rested her chin on his shoulder.

I feel safe and secure when I smell his scent.

“Huaizhi, I feel like I smell different from before.”

"What's different?"

“It’s just different, even the whole person is different from before.” Liao Zhuxin nuzzled the man’s neck and said to herself, “But the smell is better now than before.”

It's better than before.

Seeing how dependent she was on him, Ji Huaizhi had no idea what he was thinking.

After an unknown amount of time, Ji Huaizhi asked softly, "Zhu Xin, do you want to see your family?"

The woman lifted her eyelids without any expression: "Is it Jinhe?"

Ji Huaizhi knew she was smart, and might not have realized it at first: "Hmm."

"Let's talk about it after we get married." She didn't want anything to go wrong with her wedding.

She doesn't want to disrupt this peaceful life, which she never dared to dream of before.

"When did you find out?" Ji Huaizhi asked curiously.

"You said that no one, except family and lovers, would be kind to someone for no reason, and my intuition tells me she has ulterior motives," Liao Zhuxin said softly, half-lying in his arms.

"Is it confirmed?" she asked, still somewhat curious.

"Hmm." Ji Huaizhi comforted, "But it's okay. No matter who you are, you will always be my wife."

Liao Zhuxin didn't speak, but silently thought to herself: You will always be my Huaizhi.
