Chapter 24 I'm a Brother-Supporting Demon 24
"It's really unlucky to have relatives like this." My aunt always felt uneasy.
"Your nephew looks at people with a creepy gaze, and I feel a little uncomfortable about it."
Liu Jinsheng: "Don't scare yourself. Jinhua'er is unlucky. One of her sons is incompetent and the other is a good-for-nothing. She'll have a lot of trouble to suffer in the future."
Wu Xiufen picked up her grandson and said, "Don't even think about helping them. Believe me, someone like Huailin, once you help him, he'll help you countless times."
"Liu Jinhua and her husband should have some money. You can go and check on them."
Liu Jinsheng lay half-reclined on the sofa: "What am I supposed to help with? I still remember Ji Huaizhi asking me for money."
"They deserve it!"
He snorted and put a toothpick in his mouth.
Ji Huailin went to Yingchun Road, where there is only one resettlement house.
First, I waited at the main gate all day without getting a spot, then I waited at the small gate near the vegetable market all morning.
Under the scorching sun, he squatted under the tree with a frown, occasionally sending a message to Zeng Min.
I asked her to go buy a bag with me tomorrow.
He had given her all his wealth; how could he possibly let her go so easily?
The chirping of cicadas made him irritable, and finally, around noon, he saw Liu Jinhua carrying a vegetable basket into the community.
Ji Huailin quickly got up and hid in a corner to wait for her to go in.
She must have exited through another door, but after buying groceries, she went back in through this small door because it was closer.
Ji Huailin knew Liu Jinhua quite well.
After she went inside, Ji Huailin followed behind. The couple didn't seem to be suppressing their true feelings; they appeared to be doing quite well lately.
Seeing that she didn't take the elevator and went straight to the second floor, Ji Huailin followed behind her.
As Liu Jinhua opened the door and was about to close the shop, a hand appeared at the doorway and blocked it.
"ah!"
Liu Jinhua was startled when she saw the hand that suddenly appeared, and then she trembled when she saw Ji Huailin's face.
"Mom, you and Dad really made it hard for me to find you."
Liu Jinhua's vegetable basket fell to the ground, and she couldn't help but cover her face and cry again: "What are you doing? You'll definitely be struck by lightning!"
Ji Junsong got up; after resting for a while, he had almost fully recovered.
Hearing that familiar voice, he had a bad feeling.
Ji Huailin closed the door. The room was incredibly cool, and there was a watermelon on the table.
He plunged the fruit knife directly into the melon, pried it open with both hands, revealing the bright red flesh inside. Ji Huailin unceremoniously grabbed a large spoon and started eating.
He swallowed it with a satisfied sigh: "You two old geezers are pretty good at dodging."
Without any hesitation, I sat on the sofa and devoured the half-eaten melon.
Ji Junsong's face twitched incessantly, but he didn't hurl insults like before.
After quenching his thirst, Ji Huailin took two tissues to wipe his mouth, propped himself up on his knees, and looked at Liu Jinhua: "Mom, go and cook dinner. Don't you even want to give me a bite to eat?"
Liu Jinhua looked at Ji Junsong.
Ji Junsong closed his eyes and waved his hand, signaling her to go cook.
"Sit down, Dad. I've run out of money. Give me some more."
Seeing his matter-of-fact attitude, Ji Junsong felt a surge of anger rise within him, but out of fear, he swallowed it back down.
"That's over two hundred thousand! Add the jewelry and all that, it should be at least three hundred thousand, right?"
"It hasn't been long, and you've used it all up?"
Ji Huailin raised his voice and said, "Stop talking nonsense and give me the money."
Ji Junsong's facial muscles trembled even more violently.
"You didn't go to work?"
Ji Huailin put a bite of watermelon into his mouth: "I'm not going. With you guys making such a fuss, how can I have a good day at work?"
"That's fine then."
Seeing how he'd fallen on hard times, Ji Junsong rested his hand on the sofa armrest: "That job cost two hundred thousand!"
"You spendthrift son!"
"What exactly do you want? Are you determined to drive us to our deaths?"
Ji Huailin: "I didn't mean to force you to your deaths. I just want some money to spend. Will you give me the money or not?"
Liu Jinhua quickly stepped forward: "Huailin, can't we talk this out? Your parents used to love you the most. How can you treat us like this? Doesn't your conscience hurt?"
Liu Jinhua still had tears on her face.
Ji Huailin reached out and rubbed the tip of his nose: "What's so good about me? If you're so good to me, why don't you buy me a house?"
"Buy it! Okay, I'll buy it!"
Ji Huailin wasn't buying it: "I'm not buying it anymore, I just want the money."
"I really want to call the police and have you arrested!" Ji Junsong gritted his teeth. "You're a madman!"
Ji Huailin didn't care either:
"This is a family matter; calling the police will only mediate."
"Besides, I'm asking my own parents for money, is that illegal?"
The couple couldn't bear to give him money to squander, and kept begging him to stop making trouble.
It's better to say you're willing to buy him a house than to let the money go down the drain, right?
Each time he asks for money, it's tens or hundreds of thousands of yuan. How many times can he ask for that amount?
Maybe if he buys the house, things will be the same as before.
Seeing them weeping and wailing, Ji Huailin pursed his lips: "Really buying a house?"
"Buy it! Aren't you going to marry that woman? Will you stop making trouble if I buy the house?" Ji Junsong gritted his teeth.
“Yes, you’re just throwing money down the drain. What kind of family would let you spend over 200,000 yuan a month?” Liu Jinhua grabbed his hand and pleaded, “If you lose all the money, you’ll really have nothing left.”
"Do you understand what I mean?" Liu Jinhua wanted him to understand.
How many do you have left?
Just as Liu Jinhua was about to speak, Ji Junsong interrupted her: "A little over two million."
"So little?" Ji Huailin frowned.
Ji Junsong got angry when he saw his expression: "I'll calculate it for you!"
“We only have a little over two and a half million in total. Your older brother’s more than one million was taken away, and last time you took more than two hundred thousand. The little I had while hospitalized is negligible.” Ji Junsong kept slapping the coffee table while doing the accounting.
“The 200,000 yuan you spent on the job was given to you by your older brother. You also know that he took the 200,000 yuan last time.”
“Our family has a lot of expenses. You can do the math yourself. We still have over two million left, which is considered a lot.”
Ji Junsong finally cried this time.
Their money.
"Huailin, look what you're doing! This is all our savings for our funerals!"
Ji Huailin's expression still held some doubt, and he seemed somewhat disbelieving.
Ji Junsong continued, "Do you think our family is rich? It was only because of your brother's subsidies that we were able to save up so much from our salaries!"
Give them all to me.
Ji Junsong: "What are you going to do? We'll go with you to buy this house."
"Don't force me! Give me the card and the PIN!" Ji Huailin demanded money.
Once he buys the house, he and Zeng Min can get married.
Liu Jinhua is now worried; if he spends all the money, then there will be nothing left.
"We'll go with you to buy a house. Once we buy a house, you can stop messing around and just live a normal life, okay? I'm begging you."
Ji Huailin: "Where is our family's property certificate?"
Upon hearing his words, Ji Junsong felt a pang of pain in his chest, and before he could catch his breath, he fainted on the sofa.
