Chapter 26 My Fierce Wife

Chapter 26 My Fierce Wife

Feng Qiaoxiang's eyes lit up with surprise: "Wow, you're really good at it! I didn't expect you to do it so well."

"But don't go up the mountain when the flowers are still small, it would be bad if you fell."

She was genuinely surprised. After marrying him, Feng Qiaoxiang lived a really good life. Her husband was considerate and hardworking, so she didn't have to worry much about the family. Her daughter was a sweet and caring daughter.

She truly felt like she had struck gold.

But her colleagues kept saying that she married down, that she was supporting her husband and stepdaughter alone, and that she would definitely regret it later. But she really felt that Ji Huaizhi was perfect for her except for not being able to make money.

She knew that no one is perfect.

But now that Ji Huaizhi has given her such a large sum of money, she still feels a little uneasy.

"Is the customer base you mentioned reliable? Chicken and duck eggs might be rare, but can vegetables and mountain produce really make that much money?"

Ji Huaizhi pinched her nose: "No, you can earn a little money through hard work, but it's still easy to sell. Those are middlemen who collect them and distribute them to county towns."

"There's so much money here because I took Shengkai up the mountain, and she found some ginseng. I've dug some up before, and I know it's valuable." This is the only reason I can come up with to take money home.

Besides, she knew that he did go up the mountain whenever he had nothing to do.

"How lucky!" Feng Qiaoxiang didn't know what to say. It felt like a pie had fallen from the sky.

"Are there many resources in the mountains? How come you keep finding ginseng?"

Ji Huaizhi blinked: "I guess so, but you don't usually come across that stuff. There are plenty of other herbs in the mountains, though. I just dig them up and sell them for money whenever I see them. I haven't told anyone about it."

Feng Qiaoxiang looked at the money in her hand and clicked her tongue: "Why didn't you tell me about such a big thing sooner?"

Ji Huaizhi hugged her: "I just wanted to give you a surprise."

"Shengkai is so lucky. She was able to go to school after the New Year, and she earned the tuition herself." She sorted out the money and counted it one by one: "There's hope for the future."

"These middlemen really make a lot of money. Tell me, will you still do it after the New Year?" Feng Qiaoxiang asked expectantly.

“Of course I’ll do it. Didn’t you want to move to the city?” Ji Huaizhi held her hand. “My clients all send their orders to the county and city. They need large quantities, so I’m sure I can make money.”

"But we need to make some careful plans after the new year."

Feng Qiaoxiang nodded, took the money in her hand and kissed him: "Don't work too hard, the housing situation hasn't been settled yet."

"Anyway, I have a salary, plus what I earn from the land, so life is pretty good no matter what."

Ji Huaizhi chuckled lightly: "Yes, having a wife here makes life easy no matter what."

Feng Qiaoxiang glared at him and said, "I'm afraid you can't hide the fact that you're accepting things for long?"

"What about the neighbors then?"

Ji Huaizhi: "I know. Anyway, if I'm not happy about it, I won't collect it in the village. There are so many other villages around here."

"OK!"

"You should go for a check-up after the New Year. Although it looks better now, we need to check the bones inside." Feng Qiaoxiang placed her hand on his injured leg.

"No need, it doesn't hurt anymore." Ji Huaizhi took her hand.

The couple were cuddling in the room when Ji Shengkai pushed open the door and saw them embracing.

"I want a hug too!"

Feng Qiaoxiang awkwardly touched her face: "Come on up, I was just looking at your dad's leg."

"Dad's leg is better." Ji Shengkai climbed up and put his head on his mother's body and his legs on Ji Huaizhi's legs.

"Mom and Dad, will I have a younger brother or sister in the future?"

Feng Qiaoxiang didn't know how to answer. She was still young and would definitely have children: "Who told you that?"

“Those old ladies and aunties, and sometimes those uncles too,” Ji Shengkai took the opportunity to complain, “They even said that once I have younger siblings, no one will care about me anymore.”

"From now on, I'll be like a little cabbage, just like my dad was when he was a child."

Upon hearing this, Feng Qiaoxiang's face darkened: "I'm not going to work tomorrow. I want to see who has such a foul mouth!"

"When we have younger siblings in the future, Shengkai will be our precious child too!"

Ji Huaizhi held his daughter's cold little feet and placed a glass bottle filled with hot water at her feet: "Shengkai is a treasure, not a little cabbage."

"I know." Ji Shengkai smiled, revealing her small teeth, and rubbed her little feet against the glass bottle to feel the temperature. "I scolded them too."

"The kids said they were just jealous that I had new clothes and candy and poop to eat, so I wouldn't give them any!"

"Yes! That's it!" Feng Qiaoxiang was quite pleased that she was being a little temperamental now.

People with a temper are less likely to be bullied.

Since Feng Qiaoxiang stopped going to work, people have been coming to chat with her, the new bride. They've mostly been asking about her job and salary, and it's always the same old thing between women: when are they going to have another baby?

They said the dog is all grown up now and can help take care of the kids in the future.

"Stop barking like a dog. We've renamed her Shengkai. What's the point of having a child? We'll send her to school after the New Year."

"Times have changed, so we should read more books now."

The others chuckled at her words, saying, "Your stepmother is almost as good as your biological mother."

However, because of her attitude, people wondered if she, with such good qualities, was unable to have children after marrying Ji Huaizhi.

Her eyes began to linger on her belly. Feng Qiaoxiang didn't understand: "Shengkai is Huaizhi's first daughter. She suffered in the past years, so of course we treat her well."

"Nowadays, gender equality is advocated, and it's the same whether you have a boy or a girl."

“I heard someone in the village was talking nonsense about my house being blooming. I didn’t hear who said it. If I find out, I’ll make her cry.”

"Eating too much in one day can make your brain bulge, why scare a child like that?"

The others chuckled and said, "We can't match your level of awareness. You're a really good stepmother."

"The father and daughter are blessed."

"But I still think it's better to have a son. Those who have sons are blessed. No matter how many daughters you have, you can't compare to having a son."

"Yes, look at those two families in the village who don't have sons. Putting aside everything else, they get the worst land allocation and are the most likely to suffer losses in the village. If they had a son, things would be very different."

The others chattered about these things, and some were genuinely curious whether she really couldn't have children.

But given her personality, they dared not ask.

Feng Qiaoxiang frowned: "We are all women. Men are born from us women. If you ask me, we women are the ones who are more capable. I have never felt that I am inferior to other men."
