Chapter 31 I'm a Brother-Supporting Demon 31

Chapter 31 I'm a Brother-Supporting Demon 31

Liu Jinhua and Ji Junsong stood at the door, carrying things and smiling ingratiatingly. Although they were not much different in age, their hair was already gray.

Judging from their clothes and expressions, it's clear they're not living a happy life.

Ji Junsong's mouth is still noticeably crooked, and his right cheek twitches uncontrollably when he's not speaking, which seems to be a lingering effect from that time.

Liu Jinhua also hunched over, and the sharp and sarcastic look on her face was gone, replaced by a hint of unease and embarrassment.

Although Dong's mother didn't like them, she still felt uneasy looking at them.

Father Dong sighed, "Come in and sit down."

After the two went inside, they put their things at the door and, looking at their clean house, felt embarrassed to go in.

Mrs. Dong: "Come in directly, no need to change your shoes. Come and get what you need. I've never seen you come to pick up anything before."

Once you start talking, you can't stop.

She simply shut her mouth.

Mr. Dong brought them two cups of hot water: "Please sit down. You've come here because you need something, haven't you?"

Ji Junsong had stopped talking and simply nodded.

Liu Jinhua said awkwardly, "It's been almost two years in the blink of an eye, and we still haven't seen our grandson. To put it bluntly, I don't even know what he looks like or what his full name is."

You can tell if someone is male or female just by looking at their social media posts.

“As you all know, Huai Zhi resents us,” Liu Jinhua said dejectedly. “But we’re getting old too.”

“You know this feeling best. Can you try to persuade him?”

"We don't even know how many years we have left to live."

Mr. Dong did not speak.

Looking at Liu Jinhua crying, Dong's mother turned her head away and said, "Do you think we didn't try to persuade her?"

Hearing her words, Liu Jinhua looked up.

Then, her gaze fell: "Your attempts to persuade me were useless; it means she truly doesn't want to see us even once."

Mother Dong: "Huaizhi is a thoughtful person. Although he appears to be gentle and sensible, no one can change his mind. He just doesn't want to argue with others."

"You should just live your own lives."

Looking at them like this, Mrs. Dong asked, "I remember you also have pensions, right? How did you end up living like this?"

Ji Junsong remained silent and sullen.

Mrs. Dong smiled awkwardly and did not answer the question.

Her brothers from her maternal family had previously made a fuss about them having to pay back Huailin's debts, as had Huaizhi's cousin.

They returned the money and learned that the couple had no one to back them up.

Many relatives came to their door to borrow money, and even so, the two of them were still deceived by those people.

Seeing that they were unwilling to talk, Mrs. Dong pursed her lips and tilted her head: "Sigh, you can't help me or Old Dong much. We can only occasionally advise Huaizhi, but you know that too."

"We, as fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, cannot control our sons-in-law's thoughts."

Liu Jinhua nodded.

I looked up and saw their new refrigerator.

She remembered that Dong's mother posted on WeChat Moments: she casually mentioned that the refrigerator at home was not working properly, and her son-in-law immediately ordered a new one.

I immediately turned around and got up. Seeing it too much would only make me feel worse and more embarrassed.

"We'll be leaving now. Please take care of Huaizhi and the child."

Mrs. Dong waved her hand: "What are you thanking me for? He's my daughter's child too, besides."

“Huai Zhi is so filial, so we are enjoying the happiness of family life while raising the child.”

Seeing their unpleasant expressions, Dong's mother shut up and gave an awkward smile.

It makes it sound like she's showing off.

"Yes, that's good. I saw the photos you posted. That child is so well-behaved, he seems to have inherited all the best features from his parents."

Liu Jinhua's eyes revealed envy and sadness.

Mr. Dong looked at the two of them and finally spoke: "Tomorrow, Shuxiang Company will be busy, and Huaizhi also needs to rush to finish his manuscript. We will send the child over to look after him."

"If you want to see the child, come over for lunch tomorrow."

Mr. and Mrs. Ji were excited: "Really? Thank you so much!"

Father Ji also wanted to see the Ji family's grandson, and he blushed with excitement.

After thanking Mr. Dong, he hesitated and asked, "Huaizhi, what are you doing now?"

Mrs. Dong clapped her hands: "Oh my, Huaizhi is a writer now, he writes novels online, and a lot of people read them."

"He earns much more than before. You have no idea how capable he is. What do people online call him?" Mrs. Dong thought for a moment and then added:

"Master."

"Yes, great master."

"It means very powerful."

Father Ji nodded blankly: "Impressive...very impressive."

After everyone left, Mr. Dong frowned: "You said too much, and even said that Huaizhi earns more than before."

Mrs. Dong coughed and said, "I couldn't help it."

"Aren't you just telling your old friends how great your son-in-law is?"

"Can those be the same?"

When Ji's father returned, he kept muttering to himself, his words indistinct: "A writer?"

"Amazing, truly amazing."

"My son is a writer."

"Ha ha."

While sitting on the bus, he looked out the window and couldn't help but recall the scene where he called his son a good-for-nothing.

Liu Jinhua looked at him and shrugged.

I know he's crying.

She has stopped crying, because she has cried enough.

The two took quite a lot of things with them when they went to lunch the next day.

When Mrs. Dong opened the door, she was surprised: "Don't you two get tired? Can you even use all of this?"

Liu Jinhua smiled and said, "We don't get to see each other often, so I bought more for the child. Just say you bought them. Don't say it was us, or Huaizhi will be unhappy."

"Don't tell them we came looking for you." Otherwise, we might never have the chance to see our little grandson again.

They went back yesterday and withdrew all their money, putting it in one of the bags here.

Other relatives are eyeing this money; it would be better to give it to the child.

They knew Ji Huaizhi didn't want to see them, but they also hoped that Ji Huaizhi would come back to see them for the sake of the money.

Mr. Dong brought the dishes to the table: "Perfect timing, let's eat."

The two put down their things and stood up, only to see a beautiful child sitting on the sofa.

He was staring at them with wide, curious eyes.

He looked exactly like Huaizhi did when he was a child.

The couple looked at the child and were lost in memories, as if they were seeing him more than 20 years ago, when he came home from get off work and Huaizhi was carrying his younger brother on his back, obediently calling out "Dad" and "Mom".

Those were such good times.
