Chapter 34 Life Swap (The End)
"You..." Ji Gang tried to get up but was pressed down by his father: "Dad."
“I told him not to come back. If you still want to cause trouble on such a nice day, then leave. I haven’t seen my grandson in ages.” Ji Xiong looked at Ji Gangqiang with his cloudy eyes: “I don’t have many days left to live. Can’t you at least have some pity for this old man?”
Ji Yaoguang's shoulders slumped down; Grandpa had really gotten old.
Ji Xiong withdrew his hand, but Feng Li was not about to let it go: "When are you coming back to get married? It'll be perfect if you get married so you can stay home and take care of us."
"So many years have passed, and I've vented my anger."
“You’re getting married soon, so we’ll be the ones helping you take care of your kids.”
Dong Jia remained silent. She was still an outsider; he hadn't explained his family situation to her yet, so it wasn't her place to speak.
"I plan to stay in the provincial capital."
"You?" Feng Li couldn't help but sneer. "Let's not even talk about whether you can stay in the provincial capital. You have to come back. Your family is here. What are you doing staying in the provincial capital?"
"You can't get rid of us! We're your own parents. If you want to abandon us, we'll sue you!"
Ji Yaoguang: "Then go ahead, I'm much more responsible than you guys were back then."
Feng Li's chest heaved; she had had too little contact with this son.
She also knew that there was no mother-son relationship between them, and she and Ji Gangqiang were genuinely afraid that he wouldn't come back.
He is sending money and things to Ji Xiong now. If Ji Xiong is gone in the future, will he still send them?
"Do you believe I won't go to your wedding? What do you think the guests and the bride will think of you then?" Feng Li's threat came out in a way that made people laugh.
Ji Yaoguang raised an eyebrow: "I'll have my second uncle and aunt go."
"I believe they would definitely be willing."
I really don't understand the thought process of the older generation.
Ji Qian sighed as she watched this scene. She and her older sister didn't want to come back either: "Let's eat first. Jiajia is here."
Feng Li then turned to them: "I was so focused on talking about your brother that I forgot to mention you. How old are you? Why aren't you married yet? Especially you, Ji Jiao!"
"Did you run off with someone? Why did you close down your perfectly good tailor shop? You even sold the sewing machine."
Ji Qian: "My older sister went to my place. We're living together now. She has a boyfriend now, but she hasn't brought him back yet. Isn't it because she's afraid of you guys?"
"Shameless! Shameless!" Feng Li gritted her teeth.
"None of my three children are obedient. What sins have I committed against you?"
Ji Jiao: "I'm afraid my future will be like yours. I'm not ready, so I'll focus on making money first, and we'll talk about marriage later."
Ji Xiong frowned: "You're not young anymore, do you think your boyfriend will agree? Will his family agree?"
Ji Qian: "He's the only one my older sister has, and he puts her first in everything."
"What? He's an orphan? Are you out of your mind? What future does someone like that have? Not only does he have no family to support him, he's also a bachelor!" Feng Li said in a harsh tone.
Ji Jiao remained silent, lest they get carried away and start talking.
The only one in the family who loves to talk back is my younger brother.
After feeling awkward, he turned to Dong Jia and asked, "What's your name? Where are you from? How many people are in your family?"
Dong Jia forced a smile and only answered with her own name.
"You haven't said where you're from yet, or how many people are in your family? Will your family provide a dowry after you get married? We don't have dowries here."
Ji Yaoguang pulled Dong Jia to her feet: "We're leaving now. Grandpa, you can eat slowly. We'll come see you again tomorrow."
Ji Xiong reached out his hand: "Yaoguang, I'll talk to them. Let's eat first."
"Grandpa, take your time eating. Second Sister will drive you there in a bit." Ji Yaoguang knew he wouldn't be able to finish the meal.
Feng Li stood up: "Where are you leaving? Who are you giving a hard time to? I'm just asking normal questions, why are you getting angry?"
Ji Gangqiang slammed his fist on the table: "Sit down!"
"I told you to sit down, she hasn't even come in yet!"
Ji Yaoguang turned to look at Feng Li and Ji Gangqiang: "If you never learn how to speak properly, then I will never come back."
"Ungrateful wretch! Ungrateful wretch!" Ji Gangqiang was so angry that his chest ached.
Feng Li said, "She looks like she's from out of town, and her accent probably comes from a very far away place. If he marries a wife from so far away, his son will belong to someone else's family!"
"You've really gone too far! The child finally came back, and you have to make a scene." Ji Xiong pointed at them:
"Don't regret it if he never comes back!"
Feng Li pursed her lips guiltily and said, "Why wouldn't he come back when you're in your hometown?"
Ji Qian and Ji Jiao exchanged a glance but said nothing.
However, they all knew in their hearts that Yaoguang had no feelings for his family and might not come back.
Later, Ji Yaoguang came back alone to see his grandfather, talked for a while, and then left. Before leaving, he turned back to his grandfather and said:
“I plan to develop my career there in the future. I will send you money and things every month. You don’t need to worry about their attitude.”
"I know. It's not easy for you out there either. Just teach your parents a lesson."
"They are, after all, your parents."
Ji Yaoguang smiled bitterly; his grandfather still believed that "harmony in the family brings prosperity in all things."
Ji Yaoguang left without telling anyone, taking Dong Jia with him. Feng Li and Ji Gangqiang both thought Ji Yaoguang would come back.
When Feng Li couldn't find Ji Yaoguang, she assumed he was at Sun Qiao's house.
She went alone in a huff, while Ji Gangqiang didn't go because he had a lingering fear of their family.
When Feng Li arrived, she not only failed to find anyone, but was also kicked out.
She and Ji Gangqiang couldn't find Ji Yaoguang again.
The two were both angry and helpless.
At first it was fine, but after a year or two, he showed no intention of coming back.
The two then began to panic: what if he really wasn't coming back?
Ji Gangqiang was planning to go to the provincial capital to find him, but somehow he called Ji Huaizhi instead. At the time, Ji Huaizhi was attending Ji Yaoguang and Dong Jia's wedding banquet when he received the call.
The couple kept everything simple, and the ceremony was very basic.
Ji Huaizhi, holding the phone, clinked glasses with Yao Guang and Dong Jia: "I haven't been in contact with him for a long time, so I don't know much about him."
Ji Gangqiang sounded anxious on the phone, asking him to find a way to contact Ji Yaoguang.
His old injuries from a previous car accident have flared up again, and he needs money for surgery, but for some reason, he can't get in touch with Ji Yaoguang.
I'll get back to you when I have more information.
Just as Ji Gangqiang was about to ask him for a loan, Ji Huaizhi hung up the phone.
"Who have you not been in contact with for a long time? Do I know them?" Ji Yaoguang asked, puzzled.
"We're not very close. His family called me, but it's not important." Ji Huaizhi looked at the perfect couple in front of him and smiled slightly: "Happy wedding."
"Ji Huaizhi, thank you."
"You're welcome. Call your parents later and tell them the good news."
"Of course, I already said that."
