Chapter 4 The master's farmhand carried away the concubine brought for good luck.

Xuanfeng tilted its head and jumped onto Song Jiao's hand.

Song Jiao was amused by her adorable appearance. The old woman outside frowned when she heard this. Could this Aunt Song be a fool?

"Auntie, we're almost there."

The sedan chair landed, and Xuanfeng hid in Song Jiao's sleeve.

Seeing how intelligent this bird was, Song Jiao didn't want to let it go.

"Aunt Song, what happened to your veil?" The old woman didn't expect her to just pull the veil off like that. This Aunt Song really is... unruly.

"Let's go, stop with the nonsense."

As Song Jiao stepped out of the sedan chair, her thoughts were still on the little bird hidden in her sleeve.

"Then let's go to the room first. Madam said there's no need to serve tea today." The old woman just wanted to drop the person off and leave; this young lady had a very strange temper.

"This is my yard?" It's secluded, but that's nice.

There was also a round-faced little maid standing at the door.

"Yes, this is Baozhu. She will serve you personally from now on." The old woman beckoned her over, and Baozhu knelt down and called out to Aunt Song. She looked very young and inexperienced, and it seemed that she hadn't been properly trained before being sent here.

"The other servants will bring them over soon," the old woman continued. "During the day, when there's nothing to do, you can stay in this courtyard. At night, servants will come to fetch you to rest in the master's room."

"Go to Madam's room to pay your respects again in the morning." Seeing the woman's face, and remembering that young master, he couldn't help but add a word of advice:

"It's best for Aunt Song to stay in the courtyard when she has nothing to do."

Song Jiao glanced down at the little maid; she looked even younger than herself.

"Baozhu, help your mistress back to her room to rest." The old woman withdrew when she saw that Baozhu had listened to her.

This Concubine Song is so beautiful. Thinking of the master's health, I can only sigh in my heart that beauty is often short-lived.

Baozhu carefully got up, then remembered that her aunt hadn't told her to stand up yet, so she knelt down again: "Aunt..."

"How old are you this year?" Song Jiao asked her to stand up.

Baozhu still had a childlike air about her, and there was a hint of shyness in her eyes: "I'm sixteen this year."

“About the same age as my sisters.” Song Jiao smiled slightly, but there was an unconcealed worry in her eyes: “Let’s go in.”

Baozhu helped Aunt Song into the room, somewhat clumsily saying, "Aunt, you are so beautiful. I have never seen anyone as beautiful as you before. You are like a fairy from heaven."

"You don't need to refer to yourself as a slave in front of me anymore," Song Jiao said.

So far, my impression of the Jia family isn't too bad; they have that bird and that pearl.

"So what if she's pretty? She'll still be that old geezer's concubine."

Baozhu was shocked when Aunt Song said that, and she trembled with fright.

Waaah~

This master is so fierce, will he hit people in the future?

After the phoenix flew out of the sleeve, it circled twice in the courtyard.

The two looked up, and Baozhu asked in confusion, "What kind of bird is that? I've never seen one like it before?"

"I don't know, I found it on the road." Song Jiao looked up at the square sky and thought that if this bird flew outside, it would be able to see a wider world.

Instead of looking at the square courtyard.

As I was pondering, a man suddenly appeared in my line of sight. He was lying on the roof and whistled: "Xuanfeng".

Baozhu's eyes were already wide open.

He quickly stepped forward and reached out to protect her, saying, "How dare you! Where did this scoundrel come from? How dare you trespass into our aunt's courtyard?"

Baozhu was actually terrified.

The servants in the courtyard hadn't come yet; only the two of them, frail women, were there. Since the master was still unconscious, everyone seemed to disregard their new master.

The two people below only saw a man emerge from the roof.

The pale yellow bird heard the whistle and flew directly to Ji Huaizhi's shoulder.

“This is my bird,” Ji Huaizhi said.

Actually, seeing how obedient the bird was to the man, Song Jiao could tell that he was the bird's owner.

"Who are you to the Jia family? How dare you climb onto the roof of my courtyard?" Song Jiao's clear and melodious voice was pleasant to the ear.

Ji Huaizhi replied, "I'm sorry, I'm a long-term worker in the Jia family. I'm doing this because I'm looking for my Xuanfeng."

Song Jiao hadn't expected that he was actually a servant in the mansion. Being able to climb onto the roof meant he must have some skill. Were the long-term workers in the Jia family really that capable?

“Aunt Song, he must be a servant in the manor, someone who does odd jobs, and sometimes he goes to the fields,” Baozhu explained to him.

Song Jiao looked up and saw that his hands were still braced against the roof.

The little bird was still perched on his shoulder.

To be honest, she had just considered keeping the bird for herself.

I didn't expect that the bird already had an owner.

Without saying a word, Song Jiao turned and went back into the house.

Ji Huaizhi watched her turn around, her water-red dress swaying gracefully. The original owner's wish was to protect Aunt Song and take her away from this cannibalistic place, hoping to give birth to that child.

She is very wary; showing her face today is enough.

At night, Aunt Song was to be sent to the master's room to rest.

The people leading the group were all Madam's men, while Song Jiao only had Baozhu by her side.

She held Baozhu's hand, her face showing undisguised disgust.

“Aunt Song, it is your good fortune that your birth date and time can bring good luck to the master. Now that you have entered the Jia family, you are a member of the Jia family. Put away your brothel-like manners.”

Song Jiao lifted her eyelids, her eyes filled with mockery.

The old woman in front of me is Granny Guo, who is Madam Jia's personal maid.

If she can say something, then it must have been said by Madam Jia.

She continued, "Remember to serve tea to Madam tomorrow. She excused you from your greetings today because she understands you are tired from your journey, but you still need to follow the proper etiquette."

Song Jiao and Baozhu watched as Granny Guo and the others left.

It turned out that they also knew that she had not yet served tea to the madam. If the principal wife had not drunk the concubine's tea, it was as if she was not yet considered a concubine in the household.

She wasn't even a concubine, yet she was sent to the master's room, essentially becoming a maidservant.

Song Jiao gave a cold laugh.

Although Baozhu was young, she understood that Aunt Song was not well received in the mansion.

"Aunt Song?" she called out cautiously.

"Baozhu, go back."

Song Jiao took a deep breath and went straight back to the courtyard. She'd rather die than have to fawn over that old geezer.

Ji Huaizhi glanced at Master Jia's room in the darkness, his eyes flashing with an ambiguous light.

Song Jiao returned to the courtyard and was surprised to find the pale yellow bird she had seen during the day standing in front of the window.

"Aunt Song, look."

Song Jiao's composed expression softened a bit as she touched the little bird's pointed beak: "You already have an owner, so why are you here?"

"I don't even want to give you back."

"Your name is Xuanfeng?" Song Jiao's mood clearly improved, and Baozhu withdrew so as not to disturb her aunt's mood.
