Chapter 5 Son of Sin

Chapter 5 Son of Sin

With trembling hands, Ji Dama dragged his former brother onto the cart.

He kept repeating that the child was being unreasonable and that he shouldn't take it to heart, promising to find a good burial site for him.

I'll definitely burn lots of paper money for you.

"You bastard, come over here and give me a hand!"

Ji Dama tried to cover him with a bunch of messy hay, but that made him too easy to spot.

There was also a mess inside the house, with patches of red.

That's terrifying.

In just a short while, he was sweating profusely.

She slapped Ji Huaizhi hard across the face: "Go spread the soot from under the stove all over the house, and then scrape off another layer of skin."

"You're my son, I'm here to clean up your mess, so you better keep this to yourself!"

"Neither the eldest nor the second child can be told."

"Did you hear me?" The man's breath reeked of cigarette smoke, and his eyes were practically bulging out of their sockets.

Ji Huaizhi's head was knocked to the side, and the mark on his face was particularly noticeable.

"I understand, Dad." Ji Huaizhi looked up. "I knew you would help me."

Ji Dama was so nervous that he didn't notice that his son's expression was not like that of a child at all.

Ji Dama realized he was wrong; he should have listened to his mother and kept things hidden.

He didn't care before.

I never expected him to actually use a knife.

After the cart was pulled out, I looked outside and saw that everyone was busy in the fields or herding sheep.

The plain stretched as far as the eye could see; he had no idea where to drag it.

After thinking about it, I realized there was an abandoned cave dwelling, but it was a bit far away, so I had to avoid people and drag a cart to get there.

Ji Dama felt flies buzzing around behind him and realized that the cart was dripping blood.

Terrified, he walked away crying, begging Zhuangniu not to be angry with him.

When I got back, I cleaned up the bloodstains.

It was already very late when I got home.

The sand and wind stung my face, and as soon as I went down, I heard Old Lady Ji talking.

"Where have you been? You're such a grown man, and you still have no manners?"

“Mom…” Ji Dama’s face turned pale, and his forehead was covered in cold sweat.

This clearly indicates that something has happened.

Grandma Ji's heart skipped a beat.

What sins have you committed?

Ji Dama pursed his dry, cracked lips and saw his younger brother and sister-in-law collecting the chili peppers drying on the stone mill.

"It's nothing."

"How long have you been back? Is everything alright inside?"

Grandma Ji looked suspicious: "Nothing."

At this moment, Ji Erma came out and dusted himself off: "Why are there so many mosquitoes and flies in this room? It's so annoying."

"There's still a smell."

Ji Dama is starting to get nervous again.

"It's been going on for more than just a day or two. Not only are there a lot of mosquitoes and flies, but the whole place smells like sheep droppings." Ji Erma's wife rolled her eyes.

"No, there are an unusually large number today."

"Alright, let's eat."

Grandma Ji wiped her hands with a damp cloth.

Seeing that her eldest son still wanted to wash his hands with water, she simply couldn't stand it anymore.

"What do you use to wash your hands? Are your hands so precious?" She noticed that his hands looked like they had been rubbed with dirt.

Ji Dama, afraid of being discovered, rubbed it with water.

When eating, there was a bowl of oat flour buns in front of me, along with two side dishes.

Ji Da Ma was constantly restless, and Ji Er Ma also felt that something was wrong.

"Brother, what wrong thing have you done?"

"No... I won't eat yours."

Ji Dama took a bite of the steamed bun, but unexpectedly bit his tongue, which hurt so much that tears came to his eyes.

Grandma Ji frowned: "How old are you?"

Ji Dama waved his hand, the rusty taste in his mouth reminding him of the taste from that afternoon.

He looked at his son and found him eating a steamed bun with a blank expression.

"Ji Dama!" Zhuang Niu's wife's voice came from outside the door.

Ji Dama was so frightened that he dropped his bowl on the ground.

"Slow down, slow down!" Old Mrs. Ji said impatiently, getting up on her own.

Er Ma's wife nudged her husband's arm: "Your brother isn't acting right today. Did you see the sweat on his forehead? His face is deathly pale."

"I'm not blind."

Ji Huaizhi got up and placed two steamed buns in front of Yu Man.

There were also two chocolates.

Upon seeing this, Yu Man immediately hid it, and when no one was looking, she quickly peeled it open and put it in her mouth.

The familiar bittersweet taste brought tears to her eyes.

"What's wrong, Zhuangniu's wife?" Old Mrs. Ji came out with a bowl and chopsticks.

Zhuang Niu said as he walked down the road, "Is Zhuang Niu here? He hasn't come back for so long, I wonder where he's gone?"

"I don't know, Malaysia!"

"Malaysia!"

Ji Dama took a bite of his steamed bun as if by accident: "I don't know. He said he was coming to see me. I waited for him at home for a while, but he didn't come, so I went to do some work."

"Huh? Where did he go? He hasn't even eaten."

Grandma Ji: "He'll come back on his own when he's hungry. You're so virtuous, afraid your husband will be hungry."

"Sigh." Zhuang Niu's wife frowned and put her hand on her chest: "I felt a tightness in my chest this afternoon, like something was wrong."

"I hope something happened to him since he hasn't come back."

"Why don't you go ask around? Did they go drinking and playing cards?" Ji Dama swallowed hard. "What could possibly happen to a grown man like you?"

"Okay, I'll go ask at another place. You guys continue eating."

The mother and son watched her go up.

After everyone left, Old Lady Ji tapped him: "What are you guys up to?"

Ji Dama: "Mother, something's happened."

Grandma Ji's heart sank: "What is it?"

"Speak up!" Old Mrs. Ji was furious at his expression.

"Zhuang Niu is dead."

Grandma Ji opened her mouth, but seeing how guilty he had been since he came back, and considering the smell in the room, she twisted her face into a ferocious grin.

"Shut up, come to the sheepfold after you finish eating."

Er Ma's wife looked outside and said to her son, "You two go out to eat and see what your uncle and grandma are talking about?"

Ji Erma glared at her: "You really know how to teach."

"So what? What if I give money to your older brother?"

As soon as the two children went out, Grandma Ji came in: "Why are you running around instead of eating? Where did you learn such bad behavior?"

"Mom told us to come out."

“Let us come out and listen to you and your uncle talk.”

Grandma Ji was so angry that she yelled, "Are you trying to die? What did I say? I'm not even dead yet, and you're going to make me die of anger?"

"Ji Erma, how do you manage your wife?"

"If you don't hit me, I'll shit on your head."
