Chapter 6 My Wife is a Vixen 6
That feeling from during the day returned, and upon re-examining, I truly felt a life force within my body this time.
A-Yuan's surroundings darkened, and she lowered her head and raised her hand to touch her stomach: "So you were hiding just now."
Her eyes and brows couldn't hide her joy; this was a child belonging to her and her husband.
Back in the room, she gently lay down beside her husband, thinking about how to tell him the good news the next day. So happy, A-Yuan couldn't sleep all night, only closing her eyes just before dawn.
When Ji Huaizhi woke up, his gaze fell on the top of A Yuan's head.
White animal ears.
With a mischievous grin, he reached out and rubbed the tip of his ear.
"The fox's tail is showing."
The next day, Ji Huaizhi really made her lotus leaf chicken and stir-fried chicken.
A-Yuan was awakened by the aroma. After tidying up the room, she came out and saw her husband sitting by the fire reading a book.
The stove was bubbling and steaming, and the yard was filled with the aroma of meat.
She touched her braid and said shyly, "Husband, why did you wake up so early today? Why didn't you rest a little longer?"
Ji Huaizhi turned around: "When I got up, the sun was already high in the sky."
"If I rest a little longer, what will happen to your whole chicken feast?"
"My husband, please don't make fun of me."
A-Yuan tilted her head, feeling that her husband's temperament had been exceptionally good these past two days.
I actually made her her favorite chicken.
"Dinner's ready, everything's done." Ji Huaizhi pulled a mud ball out from under the stove, tapped it with a stick to reveal the lotus leaves inside.
As you peel back the lotus leaves, a wonderful aroma wafts out, and the chicken is roasted until it's tender and falls off the bone.
A-Yuan stood to the side, holding her head and her eyes shining.
"What are you doing?" Ji Huaizhi found her actions somewhat amusing.
"It smells so good, I'm afraid I'll drool."
"Why are you drooling and clutching your head?" Ji Huaizhi chuckled. "Alright, take the bowls and chopsticks over there. I'll serve the stir-fried chicken."
This was also to give her a way out, as Ji Huaizhi was afraid that she would reveal her true colors soon.
The stir-fried chicken on the stove was dry and fragrant, with spices and other side dishes added. A-Yuan ate with gusto, her mouth full of oil, and she ate three chicken legs all by herself.
Only after I finished eating did I realize how unreserved I had been.
Feeling embarrassed, he took the initiative to clean up the mess.
Just as she was considering how to tell her husband that she was pregnant, someone knocked on the courtyard gate.
"Mr. Ji, Mr. Ji."
"Shuzhuang's family hired a shaman to help summon the soul of Shuzhuang's father. They need someone to write down some words, so they asked me to invite you over."
A-Yuan saw Ji Huaizhi talking to someone and came out of the house to ask what was going on.
The man outside the door looked up and stared intently at Mr. Ji's family.
When his view was suddenly blocked, he noticed that Mr. Ji's gaze was unfriendly.
He scratched his head awkwardly: "Madam Ji, would you like to go and take a look too? People over there are watching the commotion."
"No, she's not feeling well and it's inconvenient for her to go."
The man said with some regret, "Then I'll wait for you here."
Ji Huaizhi: "No need, you go back first. I'll tidy up my writing materials and then come over."
"Husband, let me go with you." A-Yuan disliked Shu Zhuang's parents.
Thinking of the looks those people gave her, Ah Yuan felt like killing them.
However, she and her husband still live here and don't want to cause any unnecessary trouble.
She didn't want to frighten her husband.
"No need, you can stay at home. Things aren't safe outside these days, so don't go out." Ji Huaizhi packed his things. "If you're bored, you can stay with me at the school from now on, and I'll teach you to read."
"Husband, are you also afraid of demons?" A-Yuan asked timidly.
Ji Huaizhi: "The nature of demons and humans is the same. If there are good people among humans, there should be good people among demons as well."
A-Yuan nodded: "Those who have gone mad are not good people. Perhaps they are being punished for the evil deeds they committed outside."
"Probably."
A-Yuan was happy to see that he agreed with her.
"Then A-Yuan will wait for you to come back. I have good news to tell you."
Ji Huaizhi raised an eyebrow: "Okay."
After Ji Huaizhi left, A Yuan used magic to tell the sisters on the mountain the good news that she was pregnant.
She secretly went down the mountain and was severely scolded by her sisters.
Especially when she saw that Ji Huaizhi was sickly and that A Yuan did all the housework, she was so angry that she wanted to force A Yuan to go up the mountain.
But A-Yuan refused.
She insisted on staying by Ji Huaizhi's side for life, saying that she would be happy to be an ordinary person by his side, which angered her sister so much that she left her things behind and turned away.
Ji Huaizhi walked to Shu Zhuang's house, and the child ran over and called him "Sir," taking the things from his hands.
The original owner only began to suspect that Ah Yuan's background was problematic after overhearing some gossip while helping out.
This time too, they looked behind Ji Huaizhi and asked, "Isn't Madam Ji here?"
"Your wife is too unsociable; she always comes to help out whenever there's trouble in the village."
Ji Huaizhi coughed lightly: "She wasn't feeling well, didn't you only call me?"
The sorceress handed Ji Huaizhi several sheets of paper and asked him to help copy them.
Shuzhuang's father was tied up in front of the house, his face blank as he kept muttering about monsters, drool dripping from the corner of his mouth. He really looked like a fool.
Shuzhuang's mother was still wiping away tears, surrounded by people comforting her, while little Shuzhuang would occasionally wipe his father's sweat and feed him water.
After Ji Huaizhi sat down, Shu Zhuang, being very perceptive, came over to grind the ink.
After the incident at home, Shuzhuang stopped being as mischievous as before.
"Sir, will my father get better?" Life has completely changed since my father went mad.
Shuzhuang dared not imagine how he and his mother would live if his father continued like this.
Ji Huaizhi didn't sympathize with his father. After all, his father wanted to bully A Yuan, but A Yuan was not an ordinary person. If she were an ordinary woman, she would have no power to fight back.
"I don't know if your father will get better, but you should be more sensible now."
Ji Huaizhi's indifference left Shu Zhuang somewhat disappointed.
When he held his pen, his wrist was as steady as a rock, and the ink lines were perfectly straight. Every stroke revealed a sense of order and discipline. Some people felt that Ji Huaizhi was developing an increasingly strong scholarly air about him.
The sickly feeling I had was much less.
Although he still looked somewhat frail, he possessed a refined and vigorous aura.
After putting down the brush, he blew on the ink and then had Shuzhuang give it to the sorceress.
A bystander stepped forward and said, "Mr. Ji seems to be feeling much better. It looks like life is different after getting married. I often smell meat when I pass by your courtyard."
“My wife comes from a wealthy family; she understands the theory of medicinal cuisine. She's doing this all to nourish my body.” With that, Ji Huaizhi looked up at the person who had spoken.
“My house is in the opposite direction from yours, and none of your children attend school.”
"How did you end up passing by my family's courtyard?"
The man's face turned slightly red: "I was just wandering around."
Someone nearby laughed and said, "I bet you're not just taking a stroll, you're here specifically to see Madam Ji, aren't you?"
"Mr. Ji, you'd better keep a close eye on your wife. She's so beautiful, quite a few people pass by your yard."
"Vulgar!" Ji Huaizhi rebuked angrily.
Others found it strange: "Mr. Ji, don't be angry. You can't blame others for this. It's mainly because your wife is a beauty and loves to show her face in public."
"Let's see if we did anything wrong, right?"
This time, Ji Huaizhi didn't argue with them. Instead, he splashed ink on the face of the person who was speaking rudely, and the others were also affected.
"Ji Huaizhi! What are you doing?" The man wiped his face, which was now even darker.
His clothes were stained with a lot of ink.
A fox was perched on a tree not far away, barely visible because it was hidden by the leaves.
"What are you talking about me for? Talking about my wife to my face, are you expecting me to agree with you?" Ji Huaizhi looked at them coldly: "What do you mean by 'showing your face in public'?"
“My health is not good, and my wife takes care of everything at home and outside. If it weren’t for my poor health, she wouldn’t have to suffer these criticisms and your filthy gazes.”
"If I were a healthy and strong person, would you dare to say these things to me?"
The group was annoyed by Ji Huaizhi's reprimand and looked as if they wanted to pin him to the ground and beat him up.
