Chapter 7 When the Playboy Turns Over a New Leaf

Chapter 7 When the Playboy Turns Over a New Leaf

"What? You married him?" the girl exclaimed in surprise, wearing large-framed glasses and clutching a plush toy.

"Yes, just yesterday." Actually, Liao Zhuxin was also confused.

"You used the child to blackmail him?" Wang Mengjiao said with exasperation, "Why are you so fixated on him? You could say you're after his money or his good looks."

Why do you insist on developing feelings for this rich second-generation heir?

Liao Zhuxin looked at the green plants on the windowsill and slowly said, "Mengjiao, I feel that he has feelings for me, but I'm not sure."

Wang Mengjiao placed her hands in front of her chest and clasped her hands together: "Since you're not sure, then he definitely doesn't love you. Haven't you suffered enough grievances these past two years?"

"His previous affair with car models made the news."

"And then there's the fact that he wouldn't let you go to work, prevented you from socializing, and all those things he said and did could be enough to sentence him to death."

Looking into my friend's empty eyes, I knew how much she was suffering inside.

"Zhuxin, don't be like this. Tell me what you think and I'll help you analyze it." Wang Mengjiao couldn't bear to see her like this.

“Yesterday I told him about my pregnancy. At first, he looked very unhappy. After he went to the bathroom, he came out and dragged me to get our marriage certificate.”

Liao Zhuxin slowly recounted, "I thought he was taking me to the hospital for an abortion, but I didn't expect him to take me to get our marriage certificate."

Wang Mengjiao knew how much she longed for a family, and that she definitely wouldn't want to abort this child.

"Do you think he only married you for the sake of this child?" Wang Mengjiao asked.

Liao Zhuxin told her about yesterday's events, including the argument before getting the marriage certificate, the diary on the bedside table, and her conversation with her older brother.

After listening, Wang Mengjiao remembered a saying she saw online: "When a man is three-tenths drunk, he'll act until you cry."

But seeing Liao Zhuxin's expression, he didn't say anything.

“I don’t know which one is the real him, but I could feel that he cared about me yesterday,” Liao Zhuxin continued. “And it seems that he has a big misunderstanding about me, and this misunderstanding is the reason why we are like this now.”

Wang Mengjiao recounted: "You mean those news articles and those words were all him testing you? Because you didn't react, he thought you didn't care about him."

“He told his older brother that he would marry no one but you, even if you didn’t love him. He remembered that you were allergic to shrimp? He remembered that you loved to eat fish and asparagus.”

"But why would he do that?"

"You like him, and he likes you, so how did your relationship end up like this?"

Wang Mengjiao was actually a little confused.

Liao Zhuxin looked at her friend and said, "It seems he has some misunderstanding about me and Senior Brother Zhang Heng."

Wang Mengjiao was puzzled.

"What do you mean? He thinks you're having an affair with him?"

“He thinks I like Senior Zhang Heng, who is a psychology major. He saw me introducing a psychologist to him. Then he thinks I secretly went out to see him.”

Liao Zhuxin guessed the reason: "But why would he think I like Senior Brother Zhang Heng?"

"We had absolutely no interaction except academic one."

Wang Mengjiao was stunned.

A new memory appeared in my mind:

Once, Ji Huaizhi got too close to a girl and was seen by Liao Zhuxin, which led to their first cold war.

Seeing her best friend crying because of that man, she called Ji Huaizhi and scolded him:

"Let me tell you! My Zhuxin has plenty of admirers at school. You just have a little money, right? If you hadn't interfered, she would be with Senior Zhang Heng!"

"You don't know how to cherish her? Do you even know how outstanding she is?"

He cursed for a full ten minutes before hanging up and turning off his phone.

That happened back in my school days.

Could it be because of this?

Wang Mengjiao's expression froze, realizing that her words had caused their year-long cold war and conflict.

How should she face Zhu Xin?

Liao Zhuxin didn't notice her friend's expression: "How should I explain this to him?"

After hesitating for a moment, Wang Mengjiao asked, "Zhuxin, do you know that Zhang Heng, that senior from psychology, used to have a crush on you?"

Liao Zhuxin was taken aback: "He hinted at it, but I was already with Huaizhi at that time. I ignored his meaning and distanced myself from him."

Wang Mengjiao sat down: "Zhuxin, I have something to tell you."

"I don't know if it's my fault, but do you remember that time you and Ji Huaizhi had a cold war? It was because you two were arguing over a woman. I saw you crying a lot in the dormitory and I got angry."

“I called Ji Huaizhi and yelled at him.”

Liao Zhuxin truly did not know about this matter.

“When I scolded him, I said that there are plenty of people who like you. If you hadn’t interfered, you and Senior Brother Zhang Heng would have been together.”

Liao Zhuxin paused for a moment and looked at her: "You mean he took those words to heart back then?"

Wang Mengjiao: "I don't know. I'll bring some things over and explain it to you."

"Zhu Xin, I'm sorry, if that's really the case, I'll be in big trouble."

She knew how haggard she looked over the past year.

Liao Zhuxin felt gloomy. Wang Mengjiao had always been very good to her and was her only friend.

She believed she didn't do it on purpose, but she still felt uneasy about it.

As she thought about it, Liao Zhuxin burst into tears: "Then Mengjiao, you said he loves me, right?"

“You don’t know, I couldn’t believe he cared about me yesterday. I couldn’t believe what he was saying to his older brother.”

"Mengjiao, you think he definitely has feelings for me, right? He must love me if we get married, right?"

Wang Mengjiao was startled: "It definitely is."

"Zhu Xin, don't cry."

"You're pregnant, so you can't get too emotional."

Seeing that she had finally calmed down, Wang Mengjiao felt guilty: "Let me explain to him for you."

"Why are you two so stubborn? One of you doesn't say anything and the other doesn't ask, that's why your relationship is drifting further and further apart."

Liao Zhuxin lowered her head: "I don't know either, I dare not say."

Because I never felt cared about before, I was afraid that if I spoke up, no one would care.

Wang Mengjiao felt that love was terrifying, making a top student's mind full of romance.

But she dared not say another word.

"Look at you, he's a rich second-generation, and you just got married without even discussing anything else. I hope his family won't bully you just because you're single," Wang Mengjiao said, feeling sorry for her friend.

Liao Zhuxin shook her head: "His parents are fine."

“Yesterday her mother gave me a bracelet and a very thick red envelope, and her brother gave me a house and a car.”

"In their family, Ji Huaizhi is probably the most awkward one," Liao Zhuxin said, her eyes crinkling with a smile as she spoke of Ji Huaizhi.

"You just give away a house like that?" Wang Mengjiao was surprised, but then, considering their family's circumstances, it wasn't so surprising: "That's great. Haven't you always dreamed of owning your own house?"

Liao Zhuxin is actually a girl who lacks a sense of security.

She is also very sensitive.

She doesn't know if she'll regret this decision later.

Ji Huaizhi bought a lot of children's things at the mall, and then drove his car to Wang Mengjiao's building.

The call connected: "It's already late."

Wang Mengjiao looked downstairs and exclaimed, "He actually came to pick you up this time?"

Liao Zhuxin smiled faintly, "It is indeed very rare."

As I saw her out of the room, I asked, "By the way, Xixi doesn't know about your marriage yet. Should I tell her?"

Liao Zhuxin shook her head: "Forget it, I'll talk to her again when I have the chance."

Yang Xi was also a roommate at the time, and the three of them had a pretty good relationship.

However, Liao Zhuxin didn't like Yang Xi's way of speaking. Sometimes he would say things that were very harsh to listen to, and he would also say things that made people feel uncomfortable.
