Chapter 9 The Master's Long-Term Worker Carried Away the Concubine for Bringing Good Fortune

Ji Huaizhi suddenly turned and walked towards the corner, just in time to meet Song Jiao and Baozhu coming over.

"Oh dear, you scared us!" Baozhu glared at him. Aunt Song suddenly felt like going out for a walk, as she always felt it was because of him.

"Aunt Song, Baozhu."

Pear Blossom, standing behind, knew this was her mistress when she heard him call out to her. She took off her handkerchief and half-squatted, saying, "Aunt Song."

Song Jiao's gaze fell on Pear Blossom's face: "And who is this?"

Just as Lihua was about to introduce herself, Ji Huaizhi stopped her, saying, "We're not familiar."

“Brother Huaizhi.” Hearing his words, Pear Blossom bit her lip in grievance.

“We’ve already called each other brother, and we’re still not close?” Song Jiao looked at him, her eyes bright.

"Hmm, not familiar." At most, the original owner had dated him before.

“The Jia family has been in turmoil lately. Let’s go back to the courtyard first. Besides the officials, doctors, and fortune tellers, there are also some.” Ji Huaizhi, who rarely speaks, spoke at a longer pace this time.

"A fortune teller?" Song Jiao thought of the fortune teller at home before.

Pear Blossom was unwilling to be ignored.

She stepped forward and bowed to Aunt Song again: "Aunt Song, I am a first-class maid in the eldest young master's courtyard. May I speak with Brother Huaizhi for a while?"

"We haven't seen each other for a long time."

Song Jiao: "Did I stop you?"

"Isn't he right here? Did I stop him from talking to you?"

"He's ignoring you, what's the point of telling me?" Song Jiao asked her several questions, but she couldn't open her mouth.

Pear Blossom stammered, "You are the master... so..."

"So what?" Song Jiao was already beautiful and aggressive, and this question came out with great force.

Pear Blossom couldn't stand it any longer, so she casually bent down and left.

Before leaving, she glanced sadly at Ji Huaizhi.

After everyone left, Baozhu teased Ji Huaizhi, saying in a high-pitched voice, "Brother Huaizhi..."

Song Jiao smiled, glancing at Ji Huaizhi: "Aren't you going to chase after him?"

“I’m not familiar with her.” Then he looked at Ji Baozhu: “You’re making me feel a bit disgusted.”

Baozhu glared at her: "Aunt Song, let's go back quickly!"

Halfway there, Song Jiao called out to Ji Huaizhi, "What do you think that fortune teller looks like?"

Ji Huaizhi: "Shall we go take a look?"

Song Jiao: "Are you confident you won't be discovered?"

Ji Huaizhi nodded: "You can manage on your own."

After they finished speaking, they both looked at Baozhu. In the end, Baozhu went back to the courtyard alone with a pout.

Ji Huaizhi led Song Jiao away from the crowd to the guest room. When they were almost there, a little maid ran out crying. She pulled Song Jiao and turned her around to go behind the rockery.

The crying maidservant happened to bump into the person carrying something over.

"What's wrong, Xiaoyu?"

Xiaoyu wiped away her tears: "Sister, that fortune teller inside just said I'm sick, and then took the opportunity to molest me."

“I felt something was wrong and tried to run away, but he held me down and said he would treat my illness.”

The maid carrying the things changed her expression: "What? He... he's supposed to be a teacher?"

"Sister, he's definitely a fake. The way he looks at other people is so frivolous, he's not at all..."

The other person reached out and covered her mouth: "Don't say that. Don't be alone with him when there are no other maids around. The madam and the others trust him so much now."

“If we say he’s a fake, the people in the government will definitely not believe us.”

"If we were to label you a monster, you would be ruined."

The maid named Xiaoyu was frightened.

She nodded vigorously, tears streaming down her face, to show that she understood.

"Come on, I'll take you to change."

Xiaoyu: "Then this thing?"

"Hmph! I wouldn't give it to a dog, let alone him!"

After everyone left, Ji Huaizhi pulled Song Jiao out, but after a moment he realized what was happening and quickly let go, saying, "I'm sorry."

Song Jiao was lost in thought and didn't notice anything amiss: "Let's go take a look. I want to see what he looks like."

Ji Huaizhi pulled her back: "Wait on the artificial hill, and you can see him when he comes out."

Ji Huaizhi called out from the guest room door, "Sir? Sir!"

A man with a missing finger emerged, looking utterly enigmatic: "What's wrong?"

Song Jiao hid behind the artificial hill. When she saw the person come out, her eyes widened. Sure enough, it was him.

"Madam sent me to ask you what you'd like to eat tonight? Or should we have the kitchen prepare it?"

"When in Rome, do as the host says. Please tell Madam not to be so polite."

Ji Huaizhi nodded and was about to leave when the teacher called him back: "Young man, which courtyard does your concubine Song live in?"

"You're asking about this?" Ji Huaizhi raised his eyes, a flicker of emotion in them.

"Oh, is that so? Originally, her fate was supposed to improve Master Jia's health, but after he woke up, his health did not improve. Instead, so many things happened in the Jia family. I realized something was wrong."

"I plan to visit when I have time, so I can tell your wife if there are any problems."

Ji Huaizhi: "Is that so? Let's walk over to the pond in the West Garden."

“Aunt Song doesn’t like crowds, so there might not be many servants around. You can find someone to take you there, sir.”

The fortune teller laughed, his inscrutable demeanor suddenly turning lewd: "Alright, thank you, young man. You look like a blessed person."

Ji Huaizhi curled his lips, but the other party did not notice the malice in his eyes.

Song Jiao felt unwell when she returned home.

Ji Huaizhi: "Don't worry, he won't have an easy time."

Song Jiao turned to look at him: "Why do you say that? What do you know?"

“I know he’s a liar. Since you hate him so much, I’ll help you teach him a lesson.”

Hearing Ji Huaizhi's words, Song Jiao felt a little better: "How could you discipline him? He's a distinguished guest in the manor now."

At this point, Song Jiao chuckled: "But with so many things going on in the Jia family right now, that old geezer probably doesn't have time to deal with me, right?"

"Fortunately, I haven't suffered any losses since I came in."

Song Jiao knew that life might not be easy for these wealthy and powerful families, but she always seemed to have exceptionally good luck.

Just like whenever there was a problem in the Jia family, she would always manage to turn danger into safety.

When Baozhu saw them return, she stepped forward with the bird on her head and said, "Aunt Song, Granny Guo just came and said that you need to go to the front hall tomorrow."

Song Jiao's lips curled into a smile, feeling annoyed.

At night, Ji Huaizhi walked towards the pond and saw a figure ahead of him before he got close.

It was the fortune teller from earlier that day, heading in the direction of "Aunt Song".

Ji Huaizhi darted forward.

Just as the fortune teller was thinking about Song Jiao's stunning beauty, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

Looking around, there was nothing there; only ripples appeared on the surface of the pond.

"Was it too hasty of me to come out like this? So many things have happened at the Jia family these past two days, could it be that the thief is still here?"

The fortune teller swallowed hard; he had just walked to the middle of the area.

I don't know whether to keep moving forward or turn back.

People who have done something wrong always feel guilty. When they grit their teeth and go back, they feel as if their bodies are floating in the air.

He stared in astonishment at his dangling feet: "Did I really run into something?"

He quickly clasped his hands together in a gesture of begging for mercy: "No! Who are you, deity? I was just passing by and accidentally disturbed your rest. I'm so sorry."

"I'm leaving now, I'm leaving now."

But he watched helplessly as he flew over the river and crashed into the pond.

"Gurgle, gurgle."

"Ah!" After getting up, he was pushed back into the water.

And so, each time he was about to drown, his upper body would rise up, he would take a couple of deep breaths, and then he would be pushed back down.

This continued all night.
