"Hey, uncle."
Li Xia calmed herself down, took a deep breath, licked her lips, swallowed, and finally slid her fingertips across the phone's screen toward the answer button.
Shan Yilin looked at the time before calling her. Seeing that Li Xia was about to hang up before answering, he asked, "Well, it took you so long to answer. What were you doing just now?"
His tone was calm.
Li Xia just listened to Shan Yilin's voice, but couldn't guess his mood at the moment.
But the matter between Aunt Zhou and Grandpa Shan is imminent.
She couldn't delay any longer.
Li Xia rolled her eyes and made an excuse: "Oh, I was just in the bathroom."
There is nothing wrong with this reason no matter how you listen to it.
There are three urgent needs for people, but going to the toilet is the only one that cannot be held back.
It is even more impossible to do it at a fixed time and location.
Shan Yilin couldn't say anything.
Just as Li Xia thought.
After she made this foolproof excuse, Shan Yilin really said nothing.
Li Xia pondered for a moment.
Then.
She still mustered up the courage to open her mouth, "Uncle, are you busy over there now? I have something to tell you."
People will arrive tomorrow.
Fortunately, they checked the time when they bought the tickets.
Tomorrow is Saturday. Even if I wait until now to talk to Shan Yilin, it won't cause him too much trouble.
He doesn't need to ask the professor for additional leave.
Li Xia would also feel less guilty.
"What is it? Tell me."
Shan Yilin heard Li Xia's tone as if she wanted to talk about serious matters coming from the other end of the receiver. He was a little confused, but he still let her answer.
Li Xia swallowed and said, "It's like this. When we went to the diner a few days ago, didn't Aunt Zhou call me?"
She planned to bring up the topic step by step.
Maybe Dan Yilin will find it easier to accept this.
Shan Yilin nodded, and his voice came through the receiver, "Yeah, that's right."
He keenly realized that what Li Xia wanted to tell him was related to Zhou Yaya.
Shan Yilin asked tentatively: "Does it have anything to do with my sister-in-law?"
"Um."
Li Xia did not deny it and just nodded softly.
He was right in understanding it.
Upon hearing this, Shan Yilin did not say anything else and waited quietly for Li Xia to continue.
"That day, Aunt Zhou told me on the phone that Grandpa Shan was worried about me and they were planning to come to visit us overseas. The tickets had already been bought."
Li Xia weighed every word she said in her mind.
But no matter how she considers it, the central idea must be conveyed.
"Uncle, are you listening?"
After Li Xia finished speaking, there was no sound from the other end of the receiver for a long time.
She even suspected that Shan Yilin's internet connection was down.
"I'm here." Shan Yilin heard Li Xia's question and uttered two words concisely.
He then asked, "Did they say when they bought the tickets?"
Li Xia blinked her eyes and said, "They have already boarded the plane today and will probably arrive at noon tomorrow."
She estimated the time they would get off the plane.
Mr. Shan is already in his seventies. Li Xia doesn't understand how he convinced Aunt Zhou to let him take a flight for more than ten hours to visit a foreign country.
It's really painful to sit for such a long time.
When Shan Yilin heard that they had already boarded the plane, he frowned slightly and asked, "Why are you telling me this now?"
He asked in confusion.
"I..." Li Xia bit her lip, "When I first found out, I didn't know how to tell you."
It is common knowledge in the Shan family that Shan Yilin and Shan Ting don't get along.
Li Xia was quite surprised when she found out that Dan Ting was also on this trip.
She didn't have much contact with him.
But we also know that apart from Zhou Yaya, Shan Ting loves his job the most.
He could put down his work and come to see his adopted daughter who had no blood relationship with him.
This was something Li Xia had never thought of.
so.
She was worried at the time and missed the opportunity to tell Shan Yilin and Zhou Yaya that they were coming here.
After listening to Li Xia's explanation, Shan Yilin was silent for a while.
"Okay, I get it. Tomorrow is a day off. Get up early, pack up, and wait for me outside the school. I'll come pick you up."
After a while.
Shan Yilin's voice came from the receiver of the mobile phone.
Li Xia nodded and said, "Yeah, okay."
She didn't mention the matter of asking for leave on her phone.
She thought that they would meet tomorrow and could talk about it in person.
the next day.
Li Xia lives in a six-person dormitory. After Luna moved out, no new roommate moved in.
So there were only five people in the dormitory.
However, because these two days are rest days, most of the roommates in the dormitory have gone home.
Only Li Xia was left, along with another girl in the same grade but in a different class.
She is a local, but her parents are busy with work and the girl rarely goes back on her days off.
When Li Xia woke up, it was still early.
She got up quietly, afraid to disturb her roommate who was still sleeping.
"Li Xia, today is a day off, why are you up so early?"
Although Li Xia's movements were very gentle, the girl had a light sleep and woke up at the slightest sound.
The girl frowned and raised her hand to rub her sleepy eyes.
She saw Li Xia got up and opened her lips to ask.
Li Xia raised her eyes and said apologetically: "Sorry for waking you."
"It's okay. I'm just curious why you get up so early on your day off." The girl waved her hand.
