"The century egg and lean meat porridge is fresh out of the pot. It's still a little hot. I'll go get a bowl and serve some to let it cool down first."
Shan Yilin opened his thin lips and said.
"Yeah, okay." Li Xia nodded.
While waiting for the porridge to cool down, they both remained silent in tacit understanding.
A few minutes passed.
Shan Yilin picked up the porcelain bowl and walked towards Li Xia, "It shouldn't be hot anymore, try it."
He raised his hand, picked up the spoon, scooped a small spoonful, and brought it to Li Xia's mouth.
"Well, it's not hot anymore." Li Xia took a sip and nodded, "Uncle, I'll do it myself."
When Shan Yilin heard Li Xia blurt out "little uncle", his back stiffened and his right hand holding the spoon paused slightly.
The moment he knew she was pregnant, he deliberately tried to escape the identity that separated them.
"Xia Xia, I..."
"Ring, ring, ring~"
Shan Yilin moved his lips and wanted to say something, but then Li Xia's bedside cell phone rang.
He lowered his eyelids and caught a glimpse of the caller's name flashing on the screen from the corner of his eye. His eyes flickered.
"I'll take a call first."
Li Xia picked up the phone and didn't notice Shan Yilin's gloomy expression.
"Hey, Cohen."
When Shan Yilin heard Li Xia calling out Cohen's name, he subconsciously clenched his hands into fists, and his knuckles crackled.
Cohen's concerned voice came from the other end of the receiver: "Li Xia, I'm going to the department to look for you. Your classmates said you haven't been to school for a week. What's wrong with you?"
“Ahem…”
Shan Yilin coughed deliberately.
Li Xia looked up at Shan Yilin, and he met her gaze without any guilt.
Shan Yilin narrowed his eyes.
He didn't feel guilty, but Li Xia felt a little guilty when he looked at her.
She swallowed and looked away.
"Li Xia, is your uncle at home?" Cohen asked in a low voice.
Li Xia blinked her eyes and said, "Yeah."
She didn't know how to answer, so she just hummed lightly.
"Oh." Cohen nodded and asked quietly, "Why haven't you come to school recently? Is there something wrong at home? Or are you feeling unwell?"
"I'm fine, Cohen, thank you for your concern. I have something to deal with recently and it's inconvenient for me to go to school. You don't have to look for me. I'll contact you when I get back to school."
"Lixia...du..."
"Shan Yilin, what are you doing?"
Li Xia frowned and glared at Shan Yilin.
Without her consent, he took her phone away and hung up on Cohen without saying hello.
Shan Yilin ignored the look Li Xia gave him and said, "The porridge is getting cold. I'm thinking about the baby in your belly."
His eyes fell on Li Xia's flat belly.
