"Sir, the old man wants you to come over."
When dinner was almost over, the nanny walked up to Shan Ting and whispered what old man Shan said in his ear.
"Okay, I'll be there right away." Shan Ting nodded after hearing what his aunt said, and then said, "Mr. Li, I'll excuse myself for a moment. Please don't be polite and eat more."
He stood up from the chair and looked at Zhou Yaya.
"Xiaoya, I can go to dad's place by myself, you stay here and help Xiaoxia accompany Mr. Li."
Zhou Yaya nodded and said, "Well, A Ting, don't worry, I'm here for you. Go and see what Dad wants to talk to you about."
The old man knew that Li Wanshun was a guest at home, so logically he would not come to see them at dinner time.
Zhou Yaya was worried that he had something important to do.
"Brother, my dad is our own family, you don't have to be so considerate, sister-in-law and I are here, you go see dad first, if there is anything, please tell us at any time."
Li Xia said.
Shan Ting responded: "Okay, Xiao Xia is right."
He nodded and left the table.
After a while.
“Boom boom boom—”
Shan Ting walked to the door of Mr. Shan's room, raised his hand and knocked gently.
"Dad, are you looking for me?" he asked softly.
"A-Ting, I still have a little cough, you are at the door, don't come in."
Shan Ting was about to push open the door.
Old Master Shan predicted his thoughts and spoke before Shan Ting took action.
Shan Ting opened his mouth and said, "Dad, it's just a cold. I'm an adult, so I'll be fine even if I get infected."
"I don't care if you're okay or not, I'm worried about my grandchildren."
Shan Ting thought the old man was worried about his health.
Unexpectedly, this feeling of being touched did not last for three seconds before Mr. Shan poured a bucket of cold water on his head.
"You're a grown man with thick skin and flesh, of course you're fine. Xin, Ye and Little Tangguo are still young. The feeling of catching a cold is so uncomfortable. It took me several days to recover. I can't let my babies suffer like this."
Every word that came out of the old man's mouth was like stabbing Shan Ting in the heart.
Shan Ting raised his hand and touched his nose awkwardly.
Elderly people usually treat younger people with greater affection than their grandparents.
He would not be so jealous as to extend it to his own son.
Shan Ting deliberately joked, "Dad, look at what you said. People who don't know would think that your grandchildren are your own and that you picked up my son from the trash can."
"Comparing a grown man like you to a child."
Mr. Shan said in a speechless tone.
If there hadn't been a door in front of Shan Ting, the old man's rolling eyes would have fallen on him.
Mr. Shan swallowed his saliva, moistened his throat and said, "Okay, let's stop talking nonsense and get back to the topic."
He brought the subject back.
"Okay, Dad, just tell me what you want."
When Shan Ting heard Mr. Shan's tone turn serious, he also put away his joking expression.
Since the old man wouldn't let him in, Shan Ting just stood in front of the door, waiting for his next words.
"I had a dream this afternoon, and it felt very real." Old Master Shan frowned, his voice revealing a trace of worry: "A-Ting, tell me the truth, did A-Lin have any problems abroad? He has neither come back nor called me in the past year."
"Dad, what are you thinking about? It's not true. You also know about what happened between him and Xiao Xia. He didn't come back because he hasn't figured out how to face Xiao Xia." Shan Ting's heart skipped a beat when he heard this, but he quickly returned to normal.
