Their relationship progressed quickly, and even their parents accepted it soon. After all, they were both of marriageable age, both locals, and most importantly, they seemed to be very much in love.
After obtaining their marriage certificate, the wedding was quickly arranged. In fact, Gu Qingqiu had been "married" many times, but this time was obviously the most nerve-wracking for her. She was very anxious every day and even woke up several times at night. After discussing it, they decided not to invite too many people to the wedding and only invite some close relatives and friends to witness their happiness.
Gu Qingqiu still preferred to call him "Zou Jingxi" because it was the beginning of their acquaintance and a name she had silently repeated many times in her heart, making it feel more familiar. However, after they got their marriage certificate, she was constantly coaxed into calling him "husband".
Ironically, Zou Jingxi strongly opposed his father attending his wedding, perhaps because he felt it was unlucky that his current stepmother had changed.
Later, some people heard rumors of their marriage and seemed particularly eager to interfere and increase their presence. In the end, in order to avoid some unfamiliar and overly self-conscious relatives and colleagues in China, the couple simply decided to hold their wedding in a small church abroad.
Outside the church is a green lawn, and rows of white chairs are neatly arranged on both sides of the aisle.
Wearing a pure white and elegant wedding dress, Gu Qingqiu led Zou Jingxi slowly down the aisle, enjoying the blessings and enthusiastic applause from their relatives and friends on both sides.
The two stopped in front of the priest, stood facing each other, and looked into each other's eyes.
The priest looked at the happy couple before him and smiled with loving kindness and satisfaction: "On this day filled with love and joy, we gather here to witness the most beautiful moment in the lives of this couple. They are about to exchange vows and promise each other a lifetime together."
The priest gestured with one hand toward Zou Jingxi.
Zou Jingxi understood immediately and recited the vow, which he had recited and probably reviewed hundreds of times, fluently and emotionally: "I hereby solemnly promise that I am willing to marry Ms. Gu Qingqiu as my wife, and to care for her, respect her, and love her forever, whether in sickness or in health, in poverty or in wealth, until death do us part."
Gu Qingqiu had never been so moved. Even though they had heard this vow several times during their rehearsals, this time it touched her the most. Her eyes were filled with tears. She had never dared to imagine that there really was someone in the world who loved her to the core and was willing to do anything for her, and that this person happened to be the one she liked.
She's so lucky; she must have saved the galaxy in her past life.
Although she has always loved the man in front of her, she has always had a strange sense of guilt because she felt that he was her savior and loved her even more than he loved her. So, she now wants to prove to everyone that her love is also something to be proud of.
The priest then gestured in Gu Qingqiu's direction.
She cleared her throat and said with a hint of tears in her voice, "I, Gu Qingqiu, solemnly promise that I am willing to marry Zou Jingxi as my husband. Whether in good times or bad, in wealth or poverty, I will love him, respect him, and take care of him forever. Even death will not separate us. In our next life, and the life after that, and the life after that, we will still be together, as lovers who will never be separated."
Zou Jingxi was somewhat surprised, seemingly not expecting Gu Qingqiu to change her rehearsed lines at the last minute. However, upon hearing Gu Qingqiu's promise, he couldn't control his excitement. He knelt down, took out the diamond ring he had prepared, and with trembling hands, slowly and carefully slipped the ring onto Gu Qingqiu's ring finger. He lowered his head and kissed the part where Gu Qingqiu's finger and the diamond ring connected, then stood up and embraced and kissed Gu Qingqiu.
The cheers below were exhilarating; at that moment, everyone felt the love and commitment between them.
Everyone will forever remember this special day, this day filled with love and joy. Everyone is happy for their happiness, and their love will be forever cherished in their hearts.
The wedding went smoothly, and Gu Qingqiu and Zou Jingxi saw their relatives and friends off one after another on the plane back to China, planning to spend their honeymoon abroad before returning home.
Zou Jingxi's mother did not return to China with the main group. Instead, she planned to spend some time abroad with her current lover. However, her plans were different from Gu Qingqiu's, so she would also have to part ways with the two of them.
The night before she left, she sought out Gu Qingqiu for a private chat.
Although she was already married, Gu Qingqiu was still a little nervous in front of her mother-in-law, especially at times like this. She wondered what topics her mother-in-law would talk about, but she didn't expect her to start with a question—
"Happy wedding! Have a wonderful honeymoon. But if you're not planning to have children so soon, remember to use contraception, otherwise you won't have any time for just the two of you. Also, I definitely won't have time to help you with the baby, so you should be prepared. Anyway, my son has money, so you can discuss hiring a nanny or staying at a postpartum care center in advance."
"Cough cough cough..." Gu Qingqiu coughed violently a few times, her cheeks instantly turning red. She hadn't expected her mother-in-law to be so blunt and to say something so shocking. "I... I understand, but let's just let things take their natural course..."
"Oh?" The other person seemed a little surprised: "I thought you young people might not want to have children so soon."
