"Mengmeng, I've never seen you wear shorts and a skirt before. Are you used to wearing long ones and now you find short ones uncomfortable?" Qiao Qiu moved aside.
Gao Meng nodded, went inside, and habitually went over to tidy up the blankets for her. Then she sat on the bed and said, "I never wear shorts or skirts."
"Don't you feel hot?" Qiao Qiu took out her backpack and put her wallet, data cable, power bank and tissues inside.
"Once you get used to it, you won't feel it anymore," Gao Meng said.
"Let's go." Qiao Qiu slung her backpack over her shoulder.
Gao Meng stood up and walked out with Qiao Qiu.
Qiao Qiu locked the door, then turned and followed her downstairs.
Gao Meng brought nothing with her except her phone.
As they walked onto the street, Qiao Qiu looked at her and asked, "Why didn't you bring anything?"
"Since you've brought everything, I don't need to bring anything," Gao Meng said with a smile.
"Okay, so you've got your eye on this place because it has everything." Qiao Qiu took off her backpack and held it out to her. "Heh heh, you can carry it."
Gao Meng took it and laughed, "I really did raise a pig."
Qiao Qiu's anger doubled; this was the second time Gao Meng had mentioned raising pigs. She endured it. What was wrong with being a pig? Being raised by someone else was something many people envied.
Qiao Qiu glanced at Gao Meng and noticed that her bag actually looked cool on Gao Meng.
The backpack was black, small, and simple, with narrow, long straps. Gao Meng was tall and dressed simply, in a white T-shirt and jeans. She carried the backpack on one shoulder, and her other slender, fair hand was in her pocket.
Then look at yourself...
Qiao Qiu didn't dare to think any further. She considered herself a tomboy. Back then, when she saw herself in the mirror with her backpack, she looked like a complete little girl.
"If you keep raising me like this, what will happen when no one wants me anymore? Will you continue to raise me?" Qiao Qiu asked tentatively, raising an eyebrow.
"I'll take care of you, that's fine too." Gao Meng thought this was a good suggestion.
“You’ll have a husband in the future. Am I going to be competing with your husband for you? He’ll definitely be jealous,” Qiao Qiu said.
"I just won't get married." Gao Meng never thought she would get married.
Qiao Qiu raised an eyebrow but didn't continue. Given their family backgrounds, they were never short of suitors.
Think about it, even though the original owner of Qiao Qiu's personality wasn't great, she still ended up with the male lead, didn't she?
Moreover, if they don't have boyfriends, all their relatives will worry about their marriage prospects in the future. Both she and Gao Meng are only children, so it would be extremely difficult for them not to get married.
However, it's not impossible.
The original owner committed suicide because of the male lead, and later she said that her sexual orientation was abnormal, which was an excuse.
Tsk, but that's just her. What about Gao Meng? Qiao Qiu was a little worried. Given how filial Gao Meng was to her grandparents, she might very well marry someone according to their wishes.
No, no, just thinking about it gives me a headache.
Qiao Qiu shook off the random thoughts in her mind and asked Gao Meng, "Mengmeng, where are we going?"
"Just follow me," Gao Meng said with a smile.
They walked along the stone-paved street to a long corridor built along a low stone wall. Above the wall were ancient, towering trees. Next to the corridor was a small river, and on the other side of the river was the street, with more large trees on the bank.
These trees combined almost completely block out the sky above. Walking beneath them, you can feel the natural coolness.
Qiao Qiu thought this place was quite nice, even better than an air-conditioned room. She took out her phone and snapped several pictures of the towering trees. As she looked down and flipped through her photo album, she noticed that the photos didn't quite match what she had seen in person, and couldn't help but sigh, "Such beautiful scenery, it's a pity that only the eyes can truly appreciate its best. Capturing it on a phone always loses its essence."
"The best view you can see is with your own eyes. If you want to take good pictures, you can buy a camera," Gao Meng suggested.
Qiao Qiu looked at her, "Mengmeng, if it were you, would you buy a camera?"
Gao Meng was taken aback and shook her head. Why would a painter like her buy a camera?
"Look, you don't even know how to buy a camera anymore. What would I do with it?" Qiao Qiu laughed. "I'll draw one for you later, and you can see if it looks like one."
Gao Meng nodded. "Okay."
The two walked out of the corridor, and Gao Meng led Qiao Qiu around the corner and into the alley.
Qiao Qiu initially thought the alley was nothing special, but after turning another corner, she realized that the alley was filled with wisteria, with strings of purple flowers hanging from the long vines, making the whole alley look like a fairyland.
"Wow, this is so beautiful."
Qiao Qiu believed she had seen plenty of beautiful scenery in her past life, far more beautiful than this. But the view before her was simply stunning and breathtaking.
"Fortunately, the flowers are still in bloom; they are truly beautiful." Gao Meng gazed at the flowers.
Qiao Qiu took out her phone again, but after thinking about it, she put it down. Her photography skills were really limited; it would be better to just draw it instead of taking a picture.
She doesn't seem to want to draw either. Drawing what she just promised would take at least several months, so she doesn't have time to draw this.
"Let's go, we should head to our next destination," Gao Meng said.
"good."
Qiao Qiu followed Gao Meng through the wisteria-lined alley and arrived at the place Gao Meng really wanted to bring her to—the snack street.
Sure enough, Qiao Qiu's eyes lit up as soon as she arrived.
She only ate about 70% full at noon, and now, an hour and a half later, it's almost completely digested.
The food here is incredibly diverse, including barbecue, milk tea, sugar painting, put chai ko (a type of steamed rice cake), cold noodles, rice noodles, and stir-fried spicy snails, among countless other dishes.
Gao Meng smiled and said, "Let's go."
"Mmm." Qiao Qiu ran to order a plate of snails, then some barbecue, and then two cups of milk tea.
A dozen minutes later...
Gao Meng followed behind her and noticed that she loved spicy food. "Qiuqiu, have you always liked spicy food this much?"
"Okay." Qiao Qiu nodded, picked up her milk tea and snails, and sat down at the table where they were served.
Gao Meng sat down opposite her with the barbecue in hand. "Qiuqiu, why didn't you tell me?"
While eating barbecue, Qiao Qiu said, "It's not good for girls to eat too much spicy food. I'm not a picky eater, I like whatever you make."
"So that's how it is." Gao Meng said thoughtfully, picking up a skewer of grilled gluten and eating it.
After finishing their meal, the two toured the area for a while before turning back.
Gao Meng had an inspiration and went back to her room to draw. Qiao Qiu, having nothing to do outside, also went back to her room.
After returning to her room, Qiao Qiu sat for a while, took a shower, and then went straight to bed.
Right now, she didn't want to move at all, let alone play games. Sigh, she suddenly missed her immortal body from the previous world, where she never felt tired no matter how far she walked.
