Chapter Fifty-Six: I'm a Real Man (Part Fourteen)

He felt guilty towards Shen Junbai and worried about his safety on the road, so he told He Qixie to put away the bodyguards for now and send Shen Junbai back to Xiangzhou City first.

As He Qixie was carrying his luggage to meet Shen Junbai, he saw his younger sister at the entrance of the escort agency.

"Moon".

He Suyue went to greet him, her usual radiance restored, though she looked much more mature. "Brother, please tell Brother Shen that I understand his feelings. I will pursue my own happiness from now on and will no longer cling to someone who doesn't love me."

He Qi Xie patted her shoulder, "Yue'er, it's so good that you think this way. Jun Bai was too traumatized and has no interest in romantic relationships. He also doesn't want to burden others. If I tell him this, he will be very happy."

He Suyue nodded and gave a smile.

"I'm leaving now."

"Take care, brother."

He Qixie strode away from the escort agency, his steps carrying a hint of haste. Even he didn't know why; perhaps it was because of last night?

Recalling the scene of Shen Jun drinking under the white moonlight with his head tilted back, his heart couldn't help but pound wildly again.

Since meeting Shen Junbai, there have been too many things he doesn't know and can't explain, yet he can't help but get closer to Shen Junbai. Faced with this contradiction within himself, He Qixie decides to let things take their course.

He didn't go to the Shen residence, but went directly to the city gate to wait. Given Shen Junbai's personality, he would never wait for him at the Shen residence gate.

Sure enough, he didn't have to wait long before the procession of carriages adorned with lanterns from the Shen family slowly approached.

Once outside the city gate, the carriage stopped. The driver jumped down, opened the door, and said to He Qixie, "Young Master He, please get in the carriage."

He Qi Xie nodded, got into the carriage, and Shen Junbai, dressed in white, appeared before him.

After closing the car door, He Qixie sat on the side and placed his bundle on the seat.

The carriage started moving again, swaying and rocking, and He Qixie was a little unaccustomed to it—he was a man used to riding horses.

Qiao Qiu sat at the very back, engrossed in a book. He Qixie didn't even glance at him after getting into the carriage, completely absorbed in his reading.

"How did you know I would be waiting for you at the city gate?" He Qixie asked. Shen Junbai ignored him, and he didn't seem embarrassed at all.

"If you can guess my personality, why can't I guess your thoughts?" Qiao Qiu replied without looking up.

He Qi Xie laughed. As expected of the exceptionally intelligent Shen Junbai, his own skills were nothing compared to Shen Junbai's. He leaned closer and asked, "What are you looking at?"

"Medical books".

He Qi thanked him profusely, "Are you looking for a way to cure it completely?"

Qiao Qiu nodded. "We can't go on like this forever."

Suddenly, the carriage jolted, and He Qixie lost his balance and fell onto Qiao Qiu. Their noses were almost touching, and their lips were only an inch apart. The two stared at each other, and the atmosphere in the carriage suddenly became ambiguous.

"Young Master Shen, I'm so sorry, the car wheel just hit a rock. Are you alright?"

The driver's voice came from outside, startling the two of them. He Qixie jumped up, sat back down, and Qiao Qiu smiled, straightened her clothes, and lazily replied loudly, "It's nothing."

He Qi Xie's face turned bright red, and he didn't dare to look at her. His mind was in complete turmoil. Jun Bai is a man, Jun Bai is a man, Jun Bai is a man!

He kept reminding himself, but his mind was becoming increasingly confused: Why, why would a man be attracted to another man? It's impossible!

Even if He Qixie were to deceive himself, he could not ignore the feeling he had just experienced.

What he didn't notice was that Qiao Qiu remained calm throughout, without giving him the slightest strange look.

"Who goes there?!"

One sentence startled the people in the carriage.

"Robbery!"

“Bandits are rarely seen on this road, so why would they appear at this time?” He Qixie asked, frowning as he took out his broadsword.

Qiao Qiu raised an eyebrow, "Because of you."

"You wait here, I'll go out and deal with them." With that, He Qixie took the knife and went out.

Qiao Qiu lifted the thick car curtain, hung it to the side, and peeked outside.

There were about thirteen or fourteen robbers, all of them fierce-looking men dressed in coarse cloth. When they saw Qiao Qiu's face, their eyes immediately lit up with lust. "Leave him here, and you can all go."

He Qi Xie turned his head and saw Shen Junbai by the window. He was instantly enraged and pointed his knife at the bandit who had spoken, "Dream on!"

"If you won't listen to reason, you'll have to drink the penalty cup! Brothers, charge!" The bearded man waved his hand, and the bandits charged towards He Qixie with their swords drawn.

He Qi Xie threw out his scabbard, knocking down the man charging at the front. He then rushed forward, deflecting several large swords, dodging a few kicks, and dodging left and right to get behind him. With one strike, he killed the bearded man.

Having vented his anger, He Qixie drew his knife, turned around, and charged into the crowd.

The bandits were a little scared when they saw that he had killed their leader so easily, but they were all people who made a living on the edge of a knife, and they didn't believe that a dozen of them couldn't deal with one of them. So they rushed up together and raised their knives to stab He Qixie.

He Qixie leaped up, his toes touching the point where more than a dozen knives were thrusting at him. With a sweep of his blade, several more bandits were killed instantly.

He Qixie swept his foot across the remaining bandits, sending them all flying.

The remaining four or five bandits, clutching their swollen faces, stood up, lifted the bearded man's corpse, and turned to run. "You wait! If you kill our sixth leader, our boss won't let you get away with it!"

He Qi Xie did not chase after them. He wiped the blood off the corpses, picked up the scabbard, sheathed the sword, and turned to walk towards the carriage.

Although the drivers were frightened, they were all trained and had seen some bloody things before—otherwise, Qiao Qiu wouldn't have hired them as drivers.

Now that the bandits had been dealt with, the coachmen watched him board the carriage with admiration. After he got inside, they jumped onto the carriage themselves and drove away.

Qiao Qiu lowered the curtains, watched him come in and sit down, and a slight smile appeared on her lips. "Quite a strong reaction."

"What?" He Qixie was a little confused.

Qiao Qiu picked up the book and continued reading. "I mean, he's really my good brother. He can help me get rid of the people I want to kill when it matters."

He Qi Xie raised his head and said, "Of course! How can the elder brother sit idly by when his good brother is humiliated?"

Qiao Qiu smiled but didn't say anything.

He Qi Xie scratched his head and said, "Jun Bai, if you can't think of a solution, I can take you to seek help from the divine doctor."

"Where is this miracle doctor?" Qiao Qiu flipped through Shen Junbai's memories, but there was nothing about miracle doctors. She did know a few famous doctors in Shuzhou City, but she had never seen one. Her current situation wasn't good, and the fewer people who knew her martial arts were ruined, the better.
