Chapter 502 - Emperor Penguins

These past few days have been the time for the emperor penguin chicks to learn to walk. When they first started walking, they were wobbly and kept their heads down and backs bent, walking like little old ladies. Sometimes they would even fall down because they couldn't walk steadily.

The emperor penguin mother followed quietly behind, offering no help, silently watching her baby fall, get up, continue walking, fall again, and the cycle repeated.

Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi, these two fake penguin babies, are very good at learning. Although Jun Qi said he didn't want to walk like these emperor penguin babies, the species won't change, and the way they walk won't change either.

So, in the end, all he could do was try to walk with his head held high a little more.

The two emperor penguin mothers were very puzzled by the close relationship between the two chicks, but since they had only met for a short time and had not interacted with the babies much, they had not asked about it.

In the following days, the two little ones stayed together all the time, and the parents got used to it.

I forgot about it.

"Chirp chirp chirp".

Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi walked slowly. The baby emperor penguins were still small, covered in fluffy down, and even their gait was unsteady, as if they were about to fall over at any moment. In this state, they were not yet able to be independent.

Junqi had already realized this, but he couldn't force himself to grow up. He was always melancholy, hoping to grow up quickly so that he could hunt for himself and support Qiaoqiao.

"Chirp chirp." Xu Qiaoqiao patted Jun Qi's head; it was fluffy and felt very comfortable to touch.

It's okay, we'll all grow up eventually. There's no need to rush growing up; it will come gradually, and you'll find yourself growing up before you even realize it.

Xu Qiaoqiao comforted Jun Qi, knowing that Jun Qi had been very uneasy lately. The reason for this was that he was too weak. Although there were many emperor penguins around him, and they were all of the same kind, Jun Qi's worries had not lessened much.

Emperor penguins are social animals; they rely on each other to survive in this cold environment. Xu Qiaoqiao had already told Jun Qi this, but that didn't stop him from wanting to become strong himself.

Even in summer, Antarctica is still very cold. Two weeks after the emperor penguin fathers left, their settlement was hit by a very fierce blizzard.

It started as a light snowfall, with snowflakes drifting in the wind. But gradually, the blizzard intensified, with fine, cottony snow falling heavily. The snow was blown by the wind, and both the emperor penguin mothers and chicks were covered in a thick white coat.

The emperor penguin chicks' downy feathers were simply not enough to withstand the minus forty degrees Celsius. At this moment, they all huddled close to their mothers, trying to curl up into tiny balls, their beaks trembling from the cold.

"Chirp chirp." Xu Qiaoqiao called out weakly. She turned her head to look at Jun Qi next to her. He was much taller than her.

It couldn't fit into the emperor penguin mother's pouch at all, so it just stood in front of its mother, its head resting against her soft belly, its neck tucked in, and its eyes closed, looking as if it were asleep.

Xu Qiaoqiao is the last emperor penguin chick to hatch in this habitat this year. She is also the smallest among the emperor penguin chicks this year, so she can still squeeze into her mother's pouch if she shrinks down.

It's so warm here.

Xu Qiaoqiao looked at Jun Qi for a while and found that he was not moving. It seemed that he was really asleep. But was it comfortable to sleep in this position?

Just as Xu Qiaoqiao had this thought, Jun Qi's head moved slightly. He opened his eyes and found that there was a layer of snow in front of him. He subconsciously patted his cheeks a few times, then looked down and patted his face to brush the snow away.

"Chirp chirp".

After Jun Qi finished, he looked up and met those bright, piercing eyes. The blizzard blurred his vision, but those bright, piercing eyes were impossible to ignore.

"Chirp." Qiao Qiao.

"Chirp chirp." Junjun!

Upon hearing Jun Qi's voice, Xu Qiaoqiao immediately responded, her voice filled with undisguised joy. She had seen blizzards before, even in the Arctic.

The blizzard obscured the view ahead, and the gale stirred up a large fog, which was mixed with snow. The sky darkened slightly, and the cold felt much more intense.

"Chirp chirp." Xu Qiaoqiao smiled happily, her eyes crinkling, indicating: Junjun, I thought you were asleep just now.

"Chirp." Jun Qi blinked and gave Xu Qiaoqiao a simple explanation: no, he was just resting with his eyes closed.

After saying this, Jun Qi walked a little closer to Xu Qiaoqiao, just a few steps away. The two emperor penguin mothers were now very close. Although the two chicks had a good relationship, they would not provide a warm home for the other chick.

So Jun Qi walked slowly toward Xu Qiao Qiao, keeping close to his mother's belly. He stopped when he was right next to the edge of his mother's belly, and his fluffy head gently rubbed against the soft fur on his emperor penguin mother's belly.

"Chirp chirp chirp." Qiaoqiao, are you scared?

Xu Qiaoqiao curled up into a fluffy little ball inside her mother's baby bag, where the temperature was very warm and comfortable.

Although the blizzard obscured her vision, blurring the view in the distance, and the wind howled, especially the rumbling sound as it passed through the glacier, which was somewhat frightening, the warmth from her mother soothed her fear.
