Chapter 570 - Otters and Jaguars

"Waaah!" Damn it, it's a poisonous frog! Junjun, let's run!

Xu Qiaoqiao patted Jun Qi's head while making several soft, whimpering sounds. This was a secret code between the two of them, a very simple and easy-to-understand code.

Hurry up!

Jun Qi naturally saw the two poisonous frogs as well. His sharp eyes swept over them, and the frogs were about to jump towards them. But when Jun Qi swept his eyes over them, their animal instincts made them feel afraid.

They didn't dare take a single step forward.

Xu Qiaoqiao was quite scared. It was that damned curiosity of hers again. Who knew how potent the poison on those two frogs was? But when she saw the two frogs being intimidated by Junjun's gaze, Xu Qiaoqiao realized something.

This place originally belonged to Junjun. He had patrolled this area so many times before, how come he hadn't seen a single poisonous frog?

With that thought, Xu Qiaoqiao felt relieved.

Sure enough, Jun Qi roared at the two poisonous frogs a few times, and after taking only one step in their direction, the two frogs jumped apart to the left and right, croaking as they swiftly disappeared into the bushes.

Xu Qiaoqiao: "..."

Okay, Junjun is still the best.

These two frogs are so brightly colored, and although they are poisonous, they are really quite beautiful.

At this moment, Xu Qiaoqiao slid forward a few steps, bent down, and looked at Jun Qi's expression. Her face showed undisguised disgust, clearly indicating that she disliked and hated the two frogs.

"Waaaaah?"

Hearing Xu Qiaoqiao's call, Jun Qi turned his head slightly and saw the little girl's curious eyes looking over. She even blinked, as if to say: Do you hate them?

Jun Qi nodded without hesitation. Yes, he really hated them. He always kept his distance from these poison dart frogs, since their smell was really unpleasant.

Their bright colors, combined with black spots, make them stand out in the rainforest. Of course, they also look dangerous, as they carry potent poisons.

Jun Qi would never do such dangerous things. Who knows if he would die if he encountered these frogs or accidentally ate them?

Predators are often misled by their bright and beautiful appearance, thinking they are not a threat. However, it is precisely because of this carelessness that these predators suffer a very strong retaliation from these little creatures.

However, Xu Qiaoqiao was a little confused about why the two of them were afraid of Junjun. In fact, if used properly, these small animals could also poison big guys like jaguars and anacondas.

It's possible that they're not afraid of jaguars, but rather of Junjun.

Xu Qiaoqiao suddenly came to a conclusion. After thinking it through, she clapped her hands and narrowed her eyes with pleasure. That's right, that should be it, because Junjun is different!

Hearing the little guy chuckle, Jun Qi was clearly in a good mood. Although those two little things were annoying, it was good that they could make Qiao Qiao happy.

Xu Qiaoqiao didn't realize Jun Qi's idea. The poisonous frogs were gone, the walk was over, and it was already late. Jun Qi should patrol his territory.

"Waaah." Xu Qiaoqiao touched Jun Qi's eyes, hugged his head tightly, his tail was still wagging, and at this moment, she yawned.

This was the first time Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi encountered poisonous creatures in the rainforest together. The second time they saw them was when she saw a poison dart frog that was entirely red with some small black spots being eaten by an unknown bird.

Then

Then, the little bird that ate the frog had only flown a few steps when its wobbly wings looked as if they had been blown by a hurricane. A few seconds later, it fell straight down from the sky as if its wings had been broken.

Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi looked at each other, unsure of what to say. Jun Qi had no particular thoughts; he had anticipated this outcome.

Those animals are so stupid. Animals that look so bright and beautiful are obviously either inedible or unpalatable.

Jun Qi felt extremely proud, because he had figured these things out on his own, not from what the jaguar mother had told him.

Seeing Jun Qi's expression, Xu Qiaoqiao smiled helplessly, reached out and patted the big cat's head, saying, "I know you're proud. You're very capable, very good!"

Jun Qi grunted twice, like a little piglet, lowered his head, rubbed against Xu Qiaoqiao's face, and even licked her chin.

Xu Qiaoqiao could only express her condolences for the little bird's fate. Nature is so amazing; who knows how powerful an inconspicuous little creature might be?

Who knew it would turn the tables?

...

In November, at the beginning of the month, a long-awaited heavy rain came. The rain pattered down in the early morning, a time when Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi were fast asleep.

Although the vegetation overhead was dense and blocked out the sun, Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi were unsurprisingly soaked to the bone when large raindrops fell.

Xu Qiaoqiao woke up soaking wet and looking completely bewildered. Listening to the sound of raindrops, she blinked and realized, "Ah, it's raining."

It's raining, and I don't have an umbrella.

Xu Qiaoqiao: "..."

"Waaaah!" Junjun, it's raining! It's raining!

Xu Qiaoqiao jumped up and pounced on Jun Qi's head, frantically rubbing the big cat's head. Jun Qi was caught off guard by Xu Qiaoqiao's pounce and the rubbing of her head.

Glug glug glug...

Jun Qi let out a howl and quickly woke up. Before he even opened his eyes, he felt as if he had been pulled out of the water. Hearing the pitter-patter of the rain outside, well, it was raining. No wonder the little guy was so excited.

Before she even opened her eyes, Jun Qi scooped the little one into his arms, then arched his back slightly to shield her from the rain with his own body.

"Chirp chirp." Go to sleep, go to sleep, you're not awake yet.

Jun Qi patted Xu Qiaoqiao's head in a comforting gesture, nuzzled the little one's head with his kiss, and let out some soft whimpers.

Rain? No problem.

It's okay, go back to sleep.

Beneath them lay a pile of grass and leaves, leaves from the bushes they had cut earlier, and leaves from some large trees; their bodies were not in direct contact with the soil.

He wasn't too dirty from the mud beneath him. Jun Qi had encountered this situation before, especially during the rainy season when the rainfall was much heavier, and he had woken up several times soaked in the rain.

He didn't care about these things, but the little one seemed to care a lot. Although she liked to take a bath, she hated the feeling of being all wet.

Xu Qiaoqiao was held in the big cat's arms, feeling his breath and the soft meows. She nuzzled her head against Jun Qi's chin and squinted her eyes slightly.

Then, she hugged Jun Qi back.

Okay, I'm not afraid.
