Chapter 95 - The White Hedgehog & the Owl

Bai Fei asked reluctantly, "Are you really going back to the forest?"

The forest is so dangerous, what's wrong with following her? It's just feeding two mouths, I can definitely manage. Bai Qing has gone mad, it's obvious that she was tortured by Xu Qian. Wang Shi was originally bedridden, but one night, Bai Qing ran into her room in a mad manner and scared her to death.

I guess that's fate.

Xu Qiaoqiao simply wrote a few words on the paper: He doesn't like it here.

It goes without saying who "he" is referring to; it's definitely Jun Qi.

Seeing this, Bai Fei breathed a sigh of relief. Well, it seems that's the only way.

A few days later, when Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi returned to their little nest, Xu Qiaoqiao was so excited that she almost cried. She had been forced to leave and had been away from this place for about a month, and she was really upset about this little nest.

Furthermore, upon returning, Xu Qiaoqiao discovered numerous human traces in the forest, which immediately alerted her, and she immediately thought of one person: Xu Qian.

However, they never imagined that the owl and the hedgehog lived on the cliff.

When Xu Qiaoqiao discovered this, she absolutely loved her little home. The location was so great, why would she need to move?

So what if it's hot?

It's only hot for a few months anyway, just bear with it and it'll pass.

Jun Qi was unaware of Xu Qiaoqiao's thoughts, and in fact, even if he knew, it wouldn't have made any difference. Nevertheless, he still did his best to prepare food for Xu Qiaoqiao every day.

About half a month later, the humans left, and only then did Xu Qiaoqiao dare to come down with Jun Qi to find food.

When she came down again, she smelled the sweet fragrance of fruits and melons, and realized that autumn had arrived.

Unbeknownst to them, the leaves began to slowly turn yellow, starting from the outer edge of the forest. This change gradually moved deeper into the woods until the entire forest was dyed a mixture of red and yellow, just like when Xu Qiaoqiao first arrived. Only then was it complete.

As summer draws to a close once again, the days are getting shorter and the weather is noticeably cooler.

Time flies so fast?

Xu Qiaoqiao stared blankly at the tree full of fruit, because she felt like she was still in the hot summer just a moment ago. After all, she had complained that the sun was too strong during the day just a few days ago, but in just a few days, she found that autumn had quietly arrived.

"Coo coo".

Jun Qi had obviously smelled the sweet aroma as well. He wasn't particularly interested, but the little hedgehog certainly would, so he flew over here with Xu Qiaoqiao.

Hearing Jun Qi's call, Xu Qiaoqiao finally realized that she had been spacing out for too long. Jun Qi was a little curious, so he brought his head close to Xu Qiaoqiao's face and stared at her without blinking.

"Chirp chirp chirp".

Xu Qiaoqiao cried out, and when she realized it was Jun Qi's big face, it didn't scare her anymore. She touched Jun Qi's hairy face and the scars.

Jun Qi really enjoyed Xu Qiaoqiao's caresses; the scent of the little hedgehog mingled with his own, making him feel very comfortable.

Autumn is a harvest season, and it is the most favorite season for herbivores.

Because there is absolutely no need to worry about food shortages during this season.

This fruit was different from the one Xu Qiaoqiao had found before. It was a real pear, and it was very big. Xu Qiaoqiao couldn't recognize what kind of pear it was, but it must be delicious.

The aroma of the fallen fruit attracted the small animals. The sweet fruit and flesh made Xu Qiaoqiao's meal even more sumptuous, so much so that she couldn't care less about autumn or summer. Her attention was completely drawn to the delicious food in front of her.

As mentioned before, hedgehogs are known as "fruit gatherers" because, according to legend, in autumn, hedgehogs use their quills to prick pears and apples and then carry them into their burrows for the winter.

"I don't have a cave for winter," Xu Qiaoqiao thought to herself as she followed the scent to the nearest fruit. "In winter, I would just fall asleep."

The tempting sweet aroma of the fruit made Xu Qiaoqiao's mouth water. This pear is amazing!

The ground was almost covered with fallen fruit, either blown down by the wind or because the branches couldn't bear their weight and fell directly down.

The sweet aroma of the fruit attracted many insects, but they mostly ate the fermented parts, which did not conflict with the parts that Xu Qiaoqiao ate.

That evening, Xu Qiaoqiao thoroughly enjoyed the fruits of autumn; in a word, they were sweet.

It's such a shame that Junjun can't eat vegetarian food. I hope we can share it in the next life. Let's forget about it in this life, I'm afraid his stomach can't handle it.

This isn't modern times. In modern times, owls are protected animals, and if something happens to them, they can seek help from humans. But that's not the case in ancient times. If they saw an owl, they'd probably have an extra dish on their table.

Xu Qiaoqiao buried herself in the fruit, eating with great joy.

Just as Xu Qiaoqiao licked her lips with a lingering sense of satisfaction, let out a burp, and was about to leave, a gust of wind suddenly blew by, and a fruit hit her squarely on the back.

ah!

Xu Qiaoqiao shuddered a few times from the impact, felt the weight on her back, and smiled helplessly.

She turned her head and saw a large fruit right on her back, stuck there firmly, pricked by a thorn.

Wow! You're even eager to eat this fruit yourself!

But I'm full now, I don't need you anymore, even though you look big and juicy.

Xu Qiaoqiao tried to use her claws to see if she could take the fruit off, but she couldn't; the fruit was positioned a bit too far back.

This situation might not have been a problem for other little hedgehogs, but it's different for Xu Qiaoqiao.

Other hedgehogs might take it back to their own nests, but she wouldn't. Junjun's nest, although it's been enlarged and reinforced a lot, is still pitifully small; there's no room for this fruit.

When Xu Qiaoqiao realized she couldn't reach it with her claws, she tried shaking it off. She shook her bottom a few times, but when she saw that the fruit still hadn't come off, she used all her strength and shook it several times until she finally managed to shake the fruit off.

Actually, Xu Qiaoqiao's situation isn't uncommon. For hedgehogs, getting pricked by their quills when something falls on them is quite common, isn't it?
