Chapter Sixty-Seven – The White Hedgehog & the Owl

He probably lost consciousness while chewing. Although he appeared to have finished eating, there were still some food residues left in his mouth.

This was the smell that Xu Qiaoqiao caught when she pried open Jun Qi's mouth, and it made her understand immediately.

Ah, this is something I haven't finished chewing yet. No, birds can't chew, right?

Through the crack, Xu Qiaoqiao discovered something. She had always thought that while a small number of animals in the world had been eaten, most animals had the same physical structure as humans.

Especially land animals.

Moreover, all the bunnies she has worn and the Junjun she has met are the same; they all have teeth.

But it seems that Junjun's current owl costume doesn't have one.

Xu Qiaoqiao blinked and ran back to see if the two eagles were doing the same thing.

After reading it, I exclaimed in my heart: Sure enough, they are all the same.

It turns out that birds don't have teeth, lips, gums, or cheeks in their mouths; they only have beaks and tongues. Therefore, birds don't chew their food.

When Xu Qiaoqiao first saw the food residue in Jun Qi's mouth, she thought he hadn't finished chewing it, which must have been very uncomfortable.

But that's not actually the case.

This simple and lightweight structure of birds greatly reduces the weight of their heads at the front of their necks, making flight much easier.

The shape of a bird's beak and tongue varies depending on the species, diet, and foraging method, but this is where the difference lies.

Oh no, you don't have teeth, what should you do then? Just force it in?

Xu Qiaoqiao looked at the shredded meat she had brought over and was at a loss.

If you don't have teeth, then just throwing them in should work, right?

Then there's no need to worry about the food in your mouth anymore; just push it all in together.

Since they didn't chew, they must have been swallowed directly, Xu Qiaoqiao guessed.

After stuffing all the shredded meat into Jun Qi's mouth, she went to find a stick, which was a tree branch, but with a slightly brittle skin.

But she wasn't very strong. How much strength could a little hedgehog have? No, it should be said that a little hedgehog with a ladylike heart couldn't have much strength.

Xu Qiaoqiao found another pebble nearby and stuck it in Jun Qi's mouth so he wouldn't have to keep tugging at it all the time, even though it didn't look very good.

The owl in front of me looked quite disheveled; its remaining feathers were soaked with blood, and its thick mane was covered in a few coarse strands.

Moreover, there were few intact parts of his skin and flesh; the skin was turned inside out. If Xu Qiaoqiao hadn't been able to hear his intermittent breathing, she probably would have suspected that Junjun was already gone.

Now, his eyes are tightly closed, and his beak has been pried up by Qiaoqiao because she wanted to feed him, with a stone stuck in it, making him look a little comical.

However, Xu Qiaoqiao didn't care about any of that. She sat in front of Jun Qi's face, holding a small black stick, and stuck it into Jun Qi's mouth, making a popping sound as if she were poking at something.

It felt like she was a maid tending the fire in a stove.

Then you add firewood, and use a black iron rod to poke and turn it from time to time to push the firewood in.

Xu Qiaoqiao thought to herself with amusement that she pushed all the shredded meat inside. After pushing it all in, she tore off a few more pieces. These pieces were larger because she tore them along the grain, unlike the meager pieces from before.

After feeding it a few more pieces, almost tearing all the meat off the eagle, Xu Qiaoqiao clapped her hands, considering the task complete.

So, what about the remaining skeleton?

After all, she doesn't eat bones, and owls have never been known to eat bones.

Xu Qiaoqiao thought uncertainly, "Oh well, forget it, I'll just throw it away." After hesitating for three seconds, she made her decision decisively.

The bird's skeleton wasn't very heavy, so it wasn't a difficult task for Xu Qiaoqiao's slender body.

After watching the skeleton disappear into the darkness below, Xu Qiaoqiao blinked, looked away, and quickly went up to remove the stone that was stuck in Jun Qi's mouth.

Otherwise, what if he drools?

That would completely shatter that heroic image.

After finishing everything, Xu Qiaoqiao also ate something, but compared to the owl, she ate very little.

Sure enough, after eating, she felt sleepy again, her eyelids were drooping, and she didn't even want to open them.

So Xu Qiaoqiao simply closed her eyes, staggered over to Jun Qi, and fell asleep without even knowing where she was.

As darkness fell, the stars rose again, adorning the pitch-black sky.

As time passed, the stars fell, and a pale light appeared in the distant sky, with orange rays tinging the clouds.

Gradually, the sky began to brighten, the sun yawned, rubbed its eyes, and started its workday.

The temperature is a bit higher today than in the past few days, and the animals in the forest are starting to wake up and go out to find food.

The nocturnal animals, who had been busy all night, had already returned to their little dens and were catching up on sleep.

The earth is being awakened.

When Xu Qiaoqiao woke up, it was evening, just as the sun was setting, but it was still emitting a few weak rays of light.

When the light completely disappeared, Xu Qiaoqiao was awakened by her hunger; clearly, she had slept for another day.

Time flies by so fast for this person.

Xu Qiaoqiao sighed as she stuffed something into her mouth.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, she hasn't brushed her teeth for the past two days. She just used some dry grass to wipe them, but it didn't seem to help much.

I'm so afraid my teeth will rot.

Xu Qiaoqiao couldn't help but worry about this matter. In her previous life, when she was still a rabbit, she was particularly concerned about this matter and even urged Jun Qi to brush his teeth.

It's to prevent tooth decay, although the probability of this happening to wild animals is very small.

Because wild animals usually eat raw food, there is generally no food residue, and microorganisms that damage teeth, such as dental plaque, are not likely to survive.

Moreover, most animals have strong gums and sturdy teeth, which are essential for tearing food. This also ensures that the teeth are strengthened through constant movement, remaining white, sharp, and strong.

Another issue is their short lifespan. If all animals could live as long as humans, there would be many animals in the animal kingdom needing to see a dentist, Xu Qiaoqiao can guarantee that.

After finishing today's food, Xu Qiaoqiao gave Jun Qi some more, giving him all the meat from the female bird. After finishing, she threw it down the bottom, just like last night.

Yesterday, we fed Junqi the meat of the male bird, and today we fed him the meat of the female bird. After that, there will be no meat left in the nest. What will we do for food tomorrow?

After finishing everything, Xu Qiaoqiao hugged Jun Qi, thinking about these things, and unknowingly fell asleep.

When Jun Qi woke up, his vision was blurry, and he felt a strange yet familiar aura.

The scent was sweet, and it was easy for him to become addicted to it, just like the little hedgehog he had seen before.
