Chapter 542 - Emperor Penguins

In October, Antarctica is in springtime, with temperatures gradually rising and foggy skies. It rarely snows in Antarctica, but it is often windy, making it one of the windiest regions in the world. Accompanied by cold winds, snowflakes are blown up from the ground, swirling and rolling towards the horizon.

The sky was bright at this time, but the fog was quite heavy every day. When I opened my eyes and woke up, all I was faced with was a vast expanse of white.

The howling wind constantly echoed in this desolate place. There was not a trace of green to be seen. The only sights here, apart from glaciers, were white snow, or perhaps a faint blue tinge due to the accumulation of so much color, which gave it a bleak feel.

The sea breeze was still gentle, unlike the strong winds of winter. Xu Qiaoqiao still liked this gentle breeze, which felt like a kiss on her face, very comfortable.

At this moment, after many days of travel, Xu Qiaoqiao and the female emperor penguins, head down, continued their journey, stumbling and wobbling all the way, and finally arrived at the seaside. Along the way, some of the female emperor penguins noticed a hole in the ice and, out of curiosity, wanted to go and see if they could find a shortcut.

Unfortunately, it's simply impossible.

There's no such thing as a free lunch. Who would have thought that there was an orca guarding the bottom of this hole? Its skin looked a bit dirty, not smooth and shiny, and its jaw was a bit yellowish.

As soon as the emperor penguins, who were trying to take a shortcut, jumped into the water, the orca began to wait for its chance. It was an excellent hunter, but it was too hungry. When it sensed the approaching food, it devised a plan.

Seeing the emperor penguins jump into the water like dumplings being dropped into a pot, the orca knew that its chance had come. These emperor penguins looked quite plump, and their swimming was so lively that their meat looked very appetizing.

Thinking this, the orca swam quickly toward the other side. In the area where it was, there were very few underwater obstacles, so taking it slow was useless. Before they noticed, it should rush in quickly. No matter what, it would be lucky to catch one.

"Gah!"

Xu Qiaoqiao had a bad feeling. She stood next to the hole and let out a short, urgent cry, as if issuing a warning to the emperor penguins who had jumped into the water to get back to shore.

There are many dangers lurking beneath the surface of the water. In addition, Xu Qiaoqiao has a strong intuition that something bad is going to happen. She'd rather believe it than not, especially since she has a husband and baby at home. She doesn't want any of her companions to have an accident.

Upon hearing Xu Qiaoqiao's call, the emperor penguins didn't hesitate and immediately swam towards the surface. When Jun Qi wasn't around, they had to listen to Xu Qiaoqiao; this was Jun Qi's order.

If the leader says something, then you must obey and not resist. They are not those despicable and shameless Adelie penguins. They are very obedient, they can just be a little naughty at certain times.

Xu Qiaoqiao stood there, and a few seconds later, black figures shot out of the water. The emperor penguins maintained a diving posture, and after leaving the water, they glided on the ice for dozens of meters using their bellies, and then stood up smoothly and walked to the side very calmly.

There were six emperor penguins that went down into the water. When the last emperor penguin was about to touch the surface, the killer whale saw that its prey was fleeing, so it instantly sped up and rushed forward.

The distance between the two sides is constantly closing.

Sudden

"quack--!"

The last emperor penguin let out a scream as one of her feet was caught in the jaws of an orca. This startled her, as she had planned to get her head ashore and was fully prepared in every way. No one expected such an unexpected turn of events.

"Gah!" he continued, splashing around in the water, sending up large sprays of water.

The will to survive played a huge role at this time.

The emperor penguin twisted its body, flapped its little wings, and struggled desperately. It didn't want to stay here. Its chicks and its mate of six months were back in the colony. If it died here, it would never see them again.

"quack!!!"

Xu Qiaoqiao's eyes widened immediately, and she opened her mouth slightly without making a sound. However, her heart was pounding like a drum. At this moment, the best thing to do was for no one to get involved.

The hole is too small; if you were to go down there rashly, you'd probably just be feeding the orca.

Because of this sudden change, the other emperor penguins scattered in all directions. However, due to the bond they had formed over the years, they didn't simply walk away. Instead, they stopped in a safe place and waited for the emperor penguin to successfully come ashore.

A pair of calm, dark eyes stared intently at the hole, believing that their companion would make it to shore successfully.

They'll hunt together and go home together then.

"quack."

Emperor penguins are fast and agile in the water. In addition, these emperor penguins have seen how Jun Qi beat up those seals before, so they have learned some of his footwork skills.

Very, very, very fortunately, the orca only bit a foot, and the force of its teeth was not very great.

This gave the emperor penguin a lot of opportunities to struggle.

"quack."

Once the emperor penguin felt its feet freed, it quickly swam towards the surface, moving with all its might, leaving a series of afterimages underwater.
