Chapter Nine – White-haired Rabbit & Gray-haired Lone Wolf

But is it alright to leave Jun Qi and Yi Lang here?

Xu Qiaoqiao looked at Jun Qi, whose disheveled appearance was vastly different from when she first saw him. He was thin and bony, just skin and bones. It seemed he needed to eat more.

As soon as she thought about food, Xu Qiaoqiao's mind started to wander again.

After all, there are bound to be many issues to consider when a vegetarian and a carnivore live together.

Given the current situation, Jun Qi should be taking care of his own food these days.

But I'm just a rabbit; I don't know how to hunt.

This thing doesn't eat earthworms.

She was probably still complaining, but all she knew how to do was dig for earthworms, and Xu Qiaoqiao was a little frustrated.

Suddenly, Xu Qiaoqiao remembered the pieces of flesh that Bai Ze had knocked down from the black snake.

Those things, I doubt anyone would want them...

Xu Qiaoqiao thought to herself, after all, the meat smelled so bad, surely no one would have such a strong taste. Although many animals eat carrion, they don't care whether the meat is fresh or not.

Xu Qiaoqiao completely overlooked the possibility that Jun Qi might eat that kind of meat. After all, it was good enough to have something to eat. Given her small stature, it would be great if she could find it and bring it back safely.

After thinking it through, Xu Qiaoqiao prepared to take action.

Before she left, she glanced back at Jun Qi, blinked, and jumped over to nuzzle him a few times.

Wait here, wait for me to bring you breakfast.

After a night on the run, Xu Qiaoqiao was full of energy and showed no signs of fatigue; her short legs were even hopping faster.

A faint light began to appear on the distant sky; it was getting light.

Xu Qiaoqiao quickly found the original place. Just as she thought, there was no one there at all. No, no small animals would go near it. It could be described as deserted, except for the trees that were still growing normally around it.

Ugh~

Xu Qiaoqiao felt a churning in her stomach. As soon as she got close to the pile of meat, the stench assaulted her nostrils, making her dizzy and lightheaded.

Waaaaah~

Even in her past life, she had never suffered such injustice. It really stinks...

This is a disaster, especially for rabbits with their excellent sense of smell!

But there were things she had to do. Xu Qiaoqiao cheered herself up in her heart, rallied herself, found a large leaf, wrapped a large piece of meat in it, used a thin vine to hold it, and slowly dragged it back.

On her way back, Xu Qiaoqiao passed by a very shallow river. The water was clear and flowing gently, only about knee-deep.

Xu Qiaoqiao's legs suddenly gave way, and she sniffed her body. Good heavens, it smelled like she had been soaking in blood plasma, incredibly pungent.

Or... let's wash it first, it won't take long anyway.

Xu Qiaoqiao's red eyes were fixed on the river. After about three seconds, she made her choice.

A little rabbit with messy fur and covered in blood decisively dropped the piece of meat it was dragging and hopped towards the river, splashing quite a bit of water.

After taking a shower, Xu Qiaoqiao shook herself to get most of the water off before slowly carrying the bag of meat back home.

On the way, Xu Qiaoqiao also took care of her own food, casually eating some leaves.

When she returned to the cave, it was already broad daylight. The morning mist slightly dampened her freshly dried fur. The sun slowly climbed into the sky, and the animals that had avoided her the night before were now quietly returning to investigate.

Before even entering the cave, Xu Qiaoqiao's excellent sense of smell had already detected the bloody scent, which belonged to Jun Qi.

Xu Qiaoqiao was a little worried, so she quickly jumped in to take a look. Jun Qi was still lying there unconscious, with only a faint breath left. His hair was dull and lusterless, and it was soaked in blood.

The first thing she looked at was Jun Qi's wound.

Aside from the bite from that big black snake, the rest of the minor wounds have been almost completely healed. The bleeding stopped in just a short time, and at this rate, it should scab over by tomorrow.

This ability is just too good!

Xu Qiaoqiao couldn't help but feel envious again. She wished she could have that ability too, so she could heal herself no matter what kind of injury she suffered.

"Waaah..."

Jun Qi suddenly let out a muffled groan, his body trembling slightly, as if he had seen something terrifying.

Oh my god, what's wrong with Jun Qi?

Xu Qiaoqiao was terrified. Jun Qi's reaction was like that of someone who had been poisoned; he was practically foaming at the mouth.

!!

Jun Qi suddenly opened his eyes, his cold eyes staring straight at Xu Qiaoqiao without any emotion. They were like a snake, with narrow pupils that looked terrifying, as if he wanted to swallow Xu Qiaoqiao whole.

Xu Qiaoqiao was so frightened that she fell to the ground with a thud and didn't dare to move.

Fortunately, Jun Qi didn't do anything else. He stared at Xu Qiaoqiao for a long time, his gaze gradually softening before he closed his eyes, as if he had fallen asleep.

Could this be... poisoning?

Xu Qiaoqiao guessed.

After all, that reaction couldn't be explained away without poisoning.

Xu Qiaoqiao didn't dare to move rashly, fearing that something might happen to Jun Qi again. After all, who could predict what would happen in the world of cultivation? It couldn't be judged by common sense.

It feels like playing with a wooden puppet, a different kind of wooden puppet.

So tired~

Xu Qiaoqiao thought to herself, looking at Jun Qi, she tentatively stretched her limbs. She had been doing one movement for too long and she was really a little numb. If she didn't move, she felt like she was going to freeze.

Seeing that Jun Qi had no reaction, Xu Qiaoqiao mustered her courage and jumped a few steps. When she found that he was still the same, she realized that she had been overthinking things.

Xu Qiaoqiao breathed a sigh of relief, turned around and went out to drag the piece of meat back in.

After being dragged in, Xu Qiaoqiao realized she had overlooked a problem: with such a large piece of meat, how was Jun Qi supposed to eat it since he hadn't woken up yet?

Xu Qiaoqiao was in a dilemma.

She scratched her head in a very human-like way, her rabbit ears drooping naturally behind her, soft and fluffy, looking like they would be easy to pinch. Unfortunately, there were no animals or people around to see such a furry creature.

Suddenly, a wave of drowsiness washed over her. Xu Qiaoqiao blinked, and a mist immediately appeared before her eyes. She shook her head, her short tail twitched a few times, and she suddenly felt a little listless.

I'm sleepy.

Let's talk about eating later, or after Jun Qi wakes up. We can wash the meat then.

Thinking this, Xu Qiaoqiao hopped over to Jun Qi. His abdomen was still uninjured and without any bloodstains. She carefully climbed down to Jun Qi's abdomen, then hugged her long ears and fell asleep peacefully.
