The whale shark opposite fell silent. Its swaying tail seemed to pause, unsure of what to say. Xu Qiaoqiao's answer was too straightforward.
A few seconds later, she came to her senses and asked again: "Then why are you following me?"
Jun Qi remained silent and made no comment, but Xu Qiaoqiao was quite enthusiastic. She flapped her pectoral fins and asked, "Are you very concerned about this?"
The whale shark mother wasn't the only one to receive this message; Jun Qi's eyes widened instantly. He turned to look at Xu Qiaoqiao, who appeared completely calm, as if asking the question was perfectly normal.
After so many years of getting along, Jun Qi's way of thinking has gradually been assimilated by Xu Qiaoqiao, and he has started to enjoy thinking. However, the whale shark on the other side is clearly not like that.
After receiving Xu Qiaoqiao's message, the whale shark mother paused for a few seconds. Oh, right, what does it have to do with her if she follows? There's no danger or anything. Let her follow, it's no big deal.
After figuring it out, the mother whale shark gently swayed her tail, twisted her body, and dived.
Before she left, she sent a message to the two little ones: "Yes, that makes sense."
They watched helplessly as the other person deftly flipped over and disappeared into the sea.
Such a nonchalant attitude?
Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi looked at each other and blinked. A minute passed.
As the breeze swept across the sea again, Xu Qiaoqiao felt a chill on her bald head, but neither of them made any move.
Xu Qiaoqiao was clearly shocked by the other party's abrupt departure. She shook her head and sent a message to Jun Qi: "Baby, your mother is gone."
Jun Qi wasn't surprised by the result. Xu Qiaoqiao hadn't reacted yet, but he hadn't moved because Qiaoqiao hadn't made a move.
After receiving Xu Qiaoqiao's message, Jun Qi's reaction was still indifferent. He raised his eyelids and asked: Should we follow them?
Well... let's go with it.
Xu Qiaoqiao hesitated for a few seconds before making a decision. Since the other party didn't mind her and Junjun following her, then she would follow along; she wouldn't lose out.
By this time, the sky was slowly brightening. The mother whale shark didn't really care about the two little tails behind her, letting them follow her since there was no harm in it.
Coincidentally, Xu Qiaoqiao had the same idea: why not go along with it? There's nothing to lose anyway.
Jun Qi was a little different. Anyway, he and Qiao Qiao didn't know where they were going next, so he would just follow along for now. So many years had passed, and he didn't know if his mother's migration route had changed.
Thinking about it that way, it's not a bad idea to take a look.
Junqi wagged his tail and snuggled close to Xu Qiaoqiao, his mind filled with many thoughts.
So the two whale sharks began to follow their mother, swimming forward, crossing the Indian Ocean, around Australia, then across the Pacific Ocean, finally making a slight detour through the Caribbean Sea, and then entering the Atlantic Ocean.
Along the way, no one spoke much. Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi would whisper to each other, but the whale shark mother on the other side was different; she was all alone.
Time passed slowly, and before she knew it, a year had gone by. When she returned to South Africa, Xu Qiaoqiao realized that the year was over.
Jun Qi and I have grown another year older.
She subconsciously looked at the whale shark in front of her, but it still didn't react to the two of them. After returning to South Africa and staying for five days, they made preparations and set off again.
Seeing the other person slowly moving around, Jun Qi's gaze gradually deepened. He looked at Xu Qiaoqiao and asked: Are you still following?
Throughout the year, the other party ignored them completely. Only at the beginning did they ask a few questions out of curiosity. After that, they continued to eat, drink, and sleep as usual, living their lives just like before.
However, Xu Qiaoqiao still cared a lot about this matter. Jun Qi felt that Qiaoqiao hoped the other party would pay attention to them, so perhaps this result... would disappoint Qiaoqiao.
Xu Qiaoqiao blinked, looked at Jun Qi, then at the whale shark's silhouette, now just a tail, thrashing about. After a few seconds of thought, her answer was a resounding yes: Follow!
Okay, let's continue.
Jun Qi followed Xu Qiaoqiao and swam up again. Two more years passed, and they were both twenty-eight years old. In another two years, they would be adults.
At first, the mother whale shark didn't care much about the two little tails that she couldn't shake off, but later the two of them started to take advantage of her. They not only ate together, but also slept together.
Almost every time she woke up, she would find two plump whale sharks lying next to her, and they looked very close.
Whale Shark Mother: ...
Suddenly I feel like it's starting to affect my daily life.
Moreover, she is now an old whale shark, very old, and it is unknown when she will die. Generally speaking, at this age, they like to stay quietly and do not like to stay with other whale sharks.
Perhaps sensing her approaching date, she became unusually enthusiastic.
So in the fourth year that Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi followed them, when they were twenty-nine years old, the whale shark finally couldn't stand it anymore and began to talk to them.
Looking at the whale shark mother, who was only a meter away from her and Junjun, Xu Qiaoqiao tilted her head curiously. Before she could ask what was wrong, a message came through.
The other party: Little guys, tell me, what exactly are you following me for?
Hmm...
Xu Qiaoqiao blinked, glanced slightly at Jun Qi, and waited for his reply.
Jun Qi still looked calm. His tail was pressed against Xu Qiaoqiao's tail, from the belly to the tip, almost touching.
He turned to look at Xu Qiaoqiao, and their eyes met. A few seconds later, he understood what Qiaoqiao meant.
That's for him to say.
There's nothing to be embarrassed about, and the other person has definitely forgotten about him. Jun Qi calmly wiggled his pectoral fins, indicating: Mom, I used to live with you.
However, in the end, I left you first in order to find Qiaoqiao.
The whale shark mother stared at Jun Qi with bewildered eyes. She floated up a few meters, looked at the spots on Jun Qi's back, and then seemed to recognize him as she responded to him.
However, his acting was so bad that it was obvious he was faking it.
Xu Qiaoqiao couldn't help but laugh, grinning widely, but since she already had a big mouth, it didn't make much difference.
Jun Qi nodded cooperatively, finding the conversation easy, and said, "Yes, Mom." He looked somewhat serious.
