Chapter Nineteen – The White-haired Rabbit & the Gray-haired Lone Wolf

I don't know how much time passed.

In the evening, the moon was bright and the stars were few.

When Xu Qiaoqiao groggily opened her eyes, all she saw was complete darkness. The thing covering her was moving slowly up and down, and she felt like she couldn't catch her breath.

There's a temporary gap in my memory, and I'm having trouble keeping up with my current thoughts.

Where is this place?

Xu Qiaoqiao pushed the big guy away with all her might, only to find that it was already dark outside. She sat up blankly, folded off the pair of long ears with her two front paws and rubbed them haphazardly, thinking with some distress, "Ugh, why do I keep running into things like this these days?"

Why am I always being chased?

It's inexplicable.

Because Jun Qi held Xu Qiaoqiao in his arms and protected her well, Xu Qiaoqiao was not injured. To be precise, she just felt a little dizzy. Of course, it could also be because she had been unconscious for too long.

Jun Qi had been chased a few days ago. He remembered that before he met me, he was also fighting and being chased. Now he's back again. What kind of distant place is this?

By the way, how is Jun Qi?

Xu Qiaoqiao realized what was happening and immediately jumped up and hopped over to check on him.

The bleeding from her wounds had stopped. Xu Qiaoqiao looked at the long scar with worry in her eyes. Jun Qi hadn't woken up even after falling for so long, and she wondered how he was doing.

Xu Qiaoqiao took another step forward and used her two paws to pry open Jun Qi's eyelids to examine him.

Whew~

She let out a long breath. Thankfully, it wasn't too murky, and she could still breathe.

Xu Qiaoqiao tentatively extended her paw under Jun Qi's nose, the fur on her paw fluttering slightly in the breeze.

After confirming that Jun Qi was completely unharmed except for being unconscious, Xu Qiaoqiao began to look around this unfamiliar place.

This is... way too desolate.

Xu Qiaoqiao looked around. The land under the silent night seemed even more mysterious. Below the cliff, she had completely left the forest. Apart from the high, steep wall in front of her, there was only endless grassland.

There isn't even a big tree here.

It seems I'll have to dig a hole myself.

Jun Qi's injuries haven't healed yet. Although he looks almost fully recovered from the outside, Xu Qiaoqiao is certain that there are still other injuries inside. She doesn't understand spiritual power or magic, but she knows that what injured people need most is a comfortable environment.

Leaving oneself naked like this is not a solution.

Using a nearby patch of land as support, Xu Qiaoqiao quickly dug a hole with her two hind legs and her short forelegs, scattering sand behind her tail.

Rabbits are experts at digging holes, after all, they live in burrows and are very fast at digging. Soon, Xu Qiaoqiao dug a hole big enough to accommodate Jun Qi's body, only the entrance was a little small.

After slowly crawling out of the hole, Xu Qiaoqiao shook off the mud on her body and even jumped a few times.

There aren't any obvious wounds on my body, so rolling around a few times shouldn't... cause any... problems, right?

Xu Qiaoqiao tentatively thought that since Jun Qi had been pushed all the way back by her like this last time, everything had turned out fine in the end. This time...

There was nothing she could do; she was just a little rabbit. Xu Qiaoqiao looked at her thin arms and legs, which were also short.

If it weren't for the rabbit's explosive power, it would probably have taken forever to push Jun Qi.

Once she made the decision, Xu Qiaoqiao started taking action.

After all, if we don't take action soon, it will be dawn. There's nothing there when it's dark, but who knows what might appear in this large open space when it gets light?

Because the entrance to the cave is a bit small, it's still the same; only the head or the tail can go in first.

After finishing everything, Xu Qiaoqiao casually ate some grass nearby. This was the only thing she was very satisfied with after becoming a rabbit: she could find food anytime, anywhere, and even eat it raw.

For Xu Qiaoqiao, whose belief that food is the most important thing for people is probably her greatest strength.

After eating, Xu Qiaoqiao lay the whole rabbit on the ground, breathing heavily. You can't imagine what it looks like for a rabbit to breathe so heavily, while patting its slightly bulging belly.

"Yawn~"

Xu Qiaoqiao yawned softly. She was full and tired from eating. Eating after exercising was definitely the best. She slowly got up and hopped into the hole she had dug. Time to rest.

The cave that Xu Qiaoqiao had dug was quite spacious, so she didn't have to squeeze in with Jun Qi. However, looking at the hard, dark soil, Xu Qiaoqiao tilted her head and thought for a few seconds. She decided to snuggle in Jun Qi's arms, at least it would be warm there.

Jun Qi was lying on his side, so Xu Qiaoqiao couldn't rest on his back like before; she could only lean against his chest.

Xu Qiaoqiao felt at ease with Jun Qi's aura. It was the aura she was most familiar with. As long as Jun Qi was by her side, she was safe. Thinking this, Xu Qiaoqiao nuzzled her head against Jun Qi's chest.

Junqi, you need to wake up soon, it's a little scary to be alone.

Xu Qiaoqiao drifted off to sleep.

A wolf and a rabbit, in this desolate place, embraced each other, giving each other warmth—this was their only solace.

......

When Jun Qi woke up, he was holding a warm little thing in his arms. Unlike Xu Qiaoqiao, he was not confused. He still had the memories of the time before he fell into a coma. Thinking of the black snake he had never seen before, Jun Qi's eyes were clouded with gloom.

In his entire life, even the first time he took Xu Qiaoqiao on a runaway, Jun Qi had never suffered such humiliation. The feeling of being suppressed and beaten like this made him think of his troublesome old man.

Once he recovers from his injuries and finishes picking the Transformation Grass for Qiao Qiao, he will definitely seek revenge!

I fell off that cliff and have no idea where I am.

Jun Qi slowly released Xu Qiaoqiao and kissed her head a few times. It wasn't quite a kiss; he rubbed his chin against her head several times while his lips touched hers.

"Let's go out and check the situation first," Jun Qi thought to himself, looking at Xu Qiaoqiao's soft and adorable sleeping face.

The sky outside was still just as dark. Jun Qi did a quick calculation and wondered if he had been unconscious for three days.

It seems that Qiaoqiao has been taking care of me again these past three days.

For some reason, Jun Qi felt a little happy. This little rabbit still cared about him, having dug such a big hole.

This place is quite far from the original location. Although the black snake that appeared out of nowhere injured him, it was almost all superficial wounds. Moreover, Jun Qi felt that his spiritual power had increased quite a bit, which should be due to the spiritual herb he had eaten earlier.

Junye: *sobs*

Your old man also deserves credit!
