Five years have passed in the blink of an eye.
Of course, during these five years, neighbor A Jin would occasionally come over for a visit. It was a real visit; he would bring some food and chatter with Jun Qi.
Anyway, Xu Qiaoqiao couldn't understand any of it, but she could read Junjun's expression.
Most of the time, Jun Qi's expression was one of utter disgust.
He felt both helpless and disgusted, but he wouldn't lay a hand on her again. After all, they had known each other for so many years. Jun Qi's current mindset was very Zen.
"Chirp chirp." Yes, yes, yes.
Junqi's tail swished back and forth as he lay there lazily, listening to the jaguar's chattering and occasionally patting the little guy's head.
Jun Qi wasn't the kind of unreasonable jaguar. Since he had eaten the food the other party brought, it was normal for him to make some small sacrifices, such as listening to his nagging.
From feeling lonely to missing the food Peter and Ed made, countless chasms were crossed. Jun Qi squatted there, scratched his neck with his hind legs, and then yawned.
I'm really... sleepy listening to this.
However, this guy showed absolutely no sign of stopping.
She kept pouring out her grievances.
Jun Qi: "..."
His brows were so furrowed they could trap a bunch of flies.
When will this guy ever stop?
A Jin took a bite of meat, chirped a few times at Jun Qi, his eyes filled with tears, looking very melancholy. But thinking about it, it makes sense; he's about ten years old this year, practically a middle-aged jaguar.
He's a middle-aged man now.
Xu Qiaoqiao lay on Jun Qi's back, her two front paws wrapped around his neck, her fluffy tail hanging down naturally, her curious eyes looking at A Jin, wondering what the jaguar was saying.
I'd like to hear it.
Unfortunately, only Junjun could understand it. However... she looked at Junqi's face. His expression was not particularly happy. On the contrary, it was a kind of helplessness and disdain, as if to say: You are so old, not young anymore, how can you still be so childish?
This was the emotion Xu Qiaoqiao read in Jun Qi's eyes. Even so, Jun Qi patiently listened and even chimed in after she finished rambling on.
"Waaaaah." Junjun, what are you guys talking about?
Xu Qiaoqiao called out curiously. Although she knew that Jun Qi couldn't understand what she was saying for the time being, she still couldn't help but call out. She felt that it would be a pity if she didn't say something about this scene.
Ah Jin was indeed old, and he had lived almost half of his life. If he hadn't met Jun Qi and Xu Qiaoqiao, he might have lived like an ordinary jaguar, all alone, without companions or food buddies.
When you're bored, climb a tree, stay up there and gaze at the scenery in the distance. Maybe you'll fall asleep while looking at it.
When night falls, you get up, climb down the tree, and start to move around, hunting and patrolling your territory. When you return, only the cold night shines upon you.
They don't usually take the initiative to get close to other jaguars. The territory issue with Jun Qi was already an example of interaction with other jaguars. The rest of their interactions are when they have cubs with female jaguars during the breeding season.
Before meeting this neighbor, Ah Jin had always lived this kind of life.
But things are different now.
Looking at Xu Qiaoqiao and Jun Qi, A Jin felt like he had met friends.
He may not have known the meaning of the word "friend," but when he was with his neighbor and their pet, he came to understand its meaning.
"Chirp chirp." Why don't you feed your pet something? I've noticed she keeps looking this way; is she hungry?
Ajin noticed the little otter's bright eyes were fixed on him. He looked down at the caiman he had brought, blinked, and suddenly tore off a large piece of meat, handing it to Jun Qi.
Xu Qiaoqiao: "..."
Jun Qi: "..."
Jun Qi turned to look at Xu Qiaoqiao, just as the little girl's gaze was still fixed on A Jin.
Xu Qiaoqiao remained silent because she understood A Jin's actions. The other person glanced at her several times, then lowered his head to tear at the meat and handed it to Junjun, his eyes still fixed on her as he did so.
Is this meant to give me meat?
"Chirp chirp?" Are you hungry?
Just then, Jun Qi asked the same question. Xu Qiaoqiao blinked, looked into Jun Qi's eyes, and froze, unsure how to answer or what to say.
I feel hungry, but I'm not hungry either.
It's that state where you can eat a little, or not eat at all.
Xu Qiaoqiao could understand what Jun Qi meant by his question, so she hesitated for a moment, and Jun Qi could also see her hesitation.
Then, Jun Qi decisively took the piece of meat, pinched Xu Qiaoqiao's neck with his other hand, put it next to him, peeled the skin off the piece of meat that A Jin handed over, and then handed it to Xu Qiaoqiao.
"Chirp chirp." Eat up.
Xu Qiaoqiao hugged the piece of meat, squinted her eyes happily, and rubbed her head against Jun Qi's palm. She looked very well-behaved and sat next to Jun Qi, eating the piece of meat in small bites.
Counting the time now, it's already July, the dry season, with very little rainfall. However, it's only been a short time since the dry season began, so food resources aren't that scarce yet.
Seeing Xu Qiaoqiao eating so happily, Jun Qi's eyes overflowed with tenderness. Feeling the softness in his palm, a part of his heart seemed to collapse.
