Chapter Three – The White Rabbit & the Gray Lone Wolf

Jun Qi narrowed his eyes in displeasure. He felt that the rabbit in front of him was not an ordinary rabbit. If he hadn't checked its physical attributes earlier, he would have thought it was a demon beast.

"Awoo."

Jun Qi called out in a low voice, as if warning him something.

It's just a pity that Xu Qiaoqiao couldn't understand it at all.

Xu Qiaoqiao tilted her head, her long ears drooping to the ground, her white fur covered in dirt.

What is he saying?

Jun Qi saw the fleeting confusion in Xu Qiaoqiao's eyes and fell silent.

He forgot that it was a little rabbit, not a wolf cub.

She couldn't understand what she was saying.

The wolf and the rabbit stared at each other in the dark, narrow cave.

Xu Qiaoqiao felt that if she moved even slightly, the stubble on her lip would brush against Jun Qi's nose.

If Jun Qi and I were in human form, our relationship would definitely be extremely ambiguous, since our faces are no more than ten centimeters apart.

Now...

Glug~

Suddenly, Jun Qi's stomach made a sound.

This broke the atmosphere between the two.

So he was hungry!

Xu Qiaoqiao suddenly realized what was going on. She immediately straightened up and looked at Jun Qi with her bright red rabbit eyes. In the dim environment, his eyes were as bright as lanterns.

In this situation, I have no choice but to find food for the other person myself.

You need to make sure the other person understands what you mean.

So, Xu Qiaoqiao started to move.

She produced a blade of grass from somewhere, tapped Jun Qi's mouth and stomach with her forelegs, then hopped back a step, mimicking eating. She quickly finished the grass, then pointed outside with her forelegs, tapped Jun Qi's stomach again, and patted herself.

The meaning is very clear.

Jun Qi: ......

If he wasn't mistaken, was this little rabbit trying to find food for itself?

Just as Jun Qi was stunned, Xu Qiaoqiao misunderstood his meaning. After all, she remembered that in the original story, Jun Qi was a rather arrogant wolf who never asked for what he wanted.

So the other party's silence now means they want it.

Yes, I understand.

Xu Qiaoqiao's chubby body immediately sprang into action, hopping and leaping towards the outside. She was so agile even in such a narrow cave, proving that agility is indeed unrelated to weight. By the time Jun Qi realized what was happening, the rabbit's fur was nowhere to be seen.

Jun Qi was dumbfounded. Did that silly rabbit really want to find him food?

It's a ghost!

Wolves are carnivores, completely different from rabbits.

But what kind of meat are they eating?

Xu Qiaoqiao hopped a few steps outside, then suddenly remembered the question and stopped.

Wolves' digestive tracts cannot digest plant-based foods, and the digestive juices they secrete cannot digest plant matter, so they can only eat meat.

Xu Qiaoqiao looked down at her limbs, patted her head with a hint of distress, and tried hard to recall memories related to wolves, especially those related to food.

Deer, sheep, rabbit—a child?

Xu Qiaoqiao fell silent, her body trembling involuntarily. Whether it was the intimidation of the natural predator or an innate fear of wolves, she subconsciously skipped over that word.

Meat, meat, as long as it's meat, it'll be fine, right?

Xu Qiaoqiao blinked a few times, then suddenly remembered an animal that she could easily catch and that would also satisfy Jun Qi.

The soil in this forest looked quite good to her; it was fertile, and the plants growing on it looked healthy, so there must be some small animals in the soil.

For example, earthworms or something.

Earthworms thrive in dark, damp environments, so they are most easily found near ponds, farmland, or vegetable gardens.

However, given the limited resources available, Xu Qiaoqiao immediately thought of the ditch where she used to drink water.

Rabbits are very good at digging burrows, and are quite famous for it.

Xu Qiaoqiao found a patch of soil close to the ditch and started digging.

She used her hind legs for support while her forelimbs were paddling.

Suddenly, Xu Qiaoqiao's movements froze, as if her claws were entangled by something slippery, long, wriggling, and somewhat soft.

Without thinking much, Xu Qiaoqiao stretched out her paw to take a look.

"!!!"

Aaaaaah!

These earthworms are so disgusting!

Xu Qiaoqiao was so frightened that she immediately shook off the earthworm, quickly touched her paws, and cried. She suddenly felt a little wronged, as if the slippery feeling on it still lingered.

She immediately shuddered. It was terrifying! The earthworm was almost as thick as her foreleg. Earthworms in the cultivation world were too scary!

After being flung away by Xu Qiaoqiao, the earthworm straightened up, wriggled a few times, and quickly disappeared into the ground, leaving no trace.

Oh no, the earthworm is gone.

Xu Qiaoqiao looked over there and found that the earthworm was gone, leaving only a hole the size of a fly on the ground. If she didn't have good eyesight, she really wouldn't have noticed it.

Do we have to dig it all over again?

Xu Qiaoqiao subconsciously looked up at the sky. The sun was gradually setting, and its warm yellow light spread across the earth, reflecting on the green trees and casting slanted, shadowy dots.

Another day has passed.

Xu Qiaoqiao rubbed her stomach; it seemed to be growling.

There's a saying that goes, "You can only get things done if you're well-fed."

So Xu Qiaoqiao chose to eat a few fresh leaves to calm her nerves. Now that she's a rabbit, she should be able to taste all the leaves in the world.
