In the hall, the lights came back on brightly.
The servants distributed pieces of cake to the guests, and the crowd gradually dispersed.
Regardless of other things, at least on the surface, the guests present paid much less attention to the confrontation between the three members of the Jiang family, and tacitly left a space around them.
As Jiang Yan's personal assistant, Yun Ranran followed Jiang Yan silently, supporting him and feeling the almost tense atmosphere around them.
After Jiang Yan finished saying that with a smile, Uncle Jiang Feng's face suddenly darkened and he clenched his fists. The veins on his hands bulged as if he wanted to punch Jiang Yan directly. However, he looked at Old Man Jiang with fear in the end and did not make a move.
To be honest, Jiang Feng is not ugly.
His facial features were the same tough and sharp as those of Mr. Jiang and Jiang Yan, but unlike Mr. Jiang's majestic and rigid demeanor, Jiang Yan was handsome and delicate, with a hint of sinister frivolity at the corners of his lips and eyebrows.
When he looks at me without a smile, he is like a poisonous snake in the dark, making people feel uneasy.
He stared at Jiang Yan for a moment before giving up and immediately put on his usual frivolous smile again. He said, "Xiao Yan, I haven't seen you for a while and you seem to be acting more like an adult."
After saying that, he turned to Mr. Jiang and said, "Dad, don't you agree?"
"snort!"
Old Master Jiang snorted coldly while leaning on his cane, glanced at him, and scolded him, "You're an uncle, you're already grown up, yet you still act like a fool and do bad things every day. And you still have the nerve to say that."
When Jiang Yan heard this, there was only a faint smile on his lips. He watched the two people talking coldly without saying a word.
Just when Yun Ranran thought that this strange atmosphere would continue to be deadlocked, old lady Jiang, who was wearing a cheongsam, walked over.
She said to Jiang Feng with a hint of blame: "Xiao Feng, don't blame your father for scolding you. Your father didn't even come back early to help with such a big event as his 70th birthday. What are you busying around outside all day?!"
"Mom, it's really my fault. I should have come back earlier. Otherwise, you could have beaten me, your son, to vent your anger."
Jiang Feng was a tall and strong man. He lowered his head and approached Old Lady Jiang, pretending to ask for a beating. After all, he was her biological son, so Old Lady Jiang couldn't hold it back when she slapped him on the face.
"You're already an adult, and you're still like this."
"Mom, Dad, please don't bother with a jerk like me. Calm down now."
When Old Master Jiang saw his youngest son Jiang Feng trying to please and admit his mistakes, the expression on his originally stern face softened.
He tapped his cane a few times, his graying beard quirked as he said, "Alright, all of you follow me to the study on the second floor. Don't embarrass yourself in this hall."
The "all" that Mr. Jiang mentioned naturally included his grandson Jiang Yan.
After watching the old man finish speaking and walk upstairs with his crutches, Jiang Feng supported the old lady Jiang and followed him upstairs one step behind.
Jiang Yan followed slowly at the end with his hands in his pockets.
Yun Ranran looked at the situation and hesitated whether to follow him. Then she saw Jiang Yan looked back at the corner of the stairs and signaled her not to follow.
She understood the look and stopped to wait in the hall.
"Miss Yun."
Just after Jiang Yan disappeared at the end of the stairs, Yun Ranran heard someone calling her.
She turned her head and saw Jian Yanwan walking towards her gracefully with a glass of champagne in her hand.
"Ranran, would you mind chatting with me?"
"Here?"
Yun Ranran listened to the melodious dance music in the hall and felt that it was not a very suitable time for conversation.
"Let's go over there. It's quieter there."
Jian Yanwan smiled and pointed outward with her slender hand holding the champagne, indicating the backyard outside the hall.
The lights in the hall were shining, and many young men and women were holding cakes and chatting and laughing in the hall.
The sounds of conversation and music mixed together, making it extremely lively.
The departure of Yun Ranran and Jian Yanwan did not attract much attention.
"Okay, let's go over there and talk."
Yun Ranran followed Jian Yanwan through the crowd and walked out. While walking in the backyard, she looked up and found that the moonlight tonight was particularly beautiful.
There are two rows of street lights in the backyard. Although the light is not bright, with the moonlight, you can clearly see the surrounding flowers and plants, as well as the sparkling private swimming pool not far away.
The water in the swimming pool is blue, clear and translucent, and looks particularly beautiful under the cold white moonlight.
Jian Yanwan brought Yun Ranran out. They didn't talk at first, but just walked to the edge of the swimming pool and strolled around the water at a distance.
"Miss Yun, do you know why those people just gave you trouble?"
After walking around the swimming pool, Jian Yanwan stopped, turned around and looked at Yun Ranran behind her, and asked this question with a smile.
Yun Ranran thought about it after hearing this, then shook her head in confusion.
This was the first time she met those people today. They had no grudges against each other before, and she didn't know why they would cause trouble for her as soon as they met.
"If I'm not mistaken, it's because of one person." Jian Yanwan walked slowly, shaking the champagne in her hand gently, and gave Yun Ranran the answer in a gentle tone.
"who?"
Yun Ranran asked the question, and the moment she asked it, an answer appeared in her mind.
Jiang Yan——
"Jiang Yan, Young Master Jiang." Jian Yanwan also looked straight into her eyes and gave the answer in a joking tone.
And this answer just happened to confirm Yun Ranran's guess.
"Zhang Ting is the only girl of this generation in the Zhang family. She was raised by Old Madam Jiang. She and Jiang Yan can be said to be childhood sweethearts. The elders of both families are also very happy to see their relationship come to fruition."
