Dashi Village.
Next to a low earthen slope, several children of different heights were huddled on the ground roasting sparrows. Each child's face was more or less stained with black ash and earth from the black smoke rising from the branches and leaves.
"Brother Zhuzi, look, is that your sister?"
At this moment, a skinny child looked up and saw a figure not far away, and suddenly spoke.
These words frightened Zhuzi so much that he looked up and looked over quickly.
Zhuzi was not afraid of his sister, but this sister was always a troublesome problem. She would either ask for this or that, or cry and complain to his parents, which gave him a headache.
"Oh no, it's really her, hide quickly!" said Zhuzi.
There were green rocks and trees, and on a small path hidden in the mountains, the plump figure of a little girl was walking towards this side slowly.
That feature was so recognizable among the skinny children in the village that there was no need for her to wait until she got closer to see it.
This is the chubby little girl who is his sister.
"oh!!"
After hearing what Zhuzi said, several children responded quickly.
They were not used to listening to the orders of Zhuzi, the "leader", but they really didn't want to meet the unreasonable fat girl from the head of the village. They couldn't convince her and they didn't dare to hit her. It was so frustrating.
No child in this village has ever been able to take advantage of her, so they just have to hide when they see her.
In the blink of an eye, some soil was casually sprinkled on the small smoking fire on the ground.
Zhuzi brought a few children with him, holding sparrows in their hands, and ran away in a hurry. The dust and noise they made while running were so loud that it naturally attracted the attention of Wang Erya who was not far away.
She looked at the children who disappeared in a moment, and after a moment of reaction, helplessness flashed in her eyes.
The original owner was somewhat famous among the children in the village. She was a bully in the village, and wherever she went, birds were scared away and fish scattered. After seeing this scene a few times, she was still a little uncomfortable.
She accepted the original owner's memory and thought that she was a weak and delicate little girl. However, after she went out and experienced the treatment of being avoided by the children in the village, and had to hide and eavesdrop on the conversations of several children, she finally realized something.
The original owner was not the weak little girl who was bullied by her naughty brother in her memory. In the eyes of many children in the village, the original owner was a domineering and troublesome person who could not be provoked.
As the daughter of the head of the Dashi Village family, the villagers did not allow their children to offend her, and the children had to give in to her after being told by their parents. However, after playing together for a long time, no one could stand having a bully playmate who would always snatch things away and was unreasonable, so in the end they all avoided her.
Now she is the bully in this village.
Wang Erya felt helpless and continued walking towards home.
It was getting late and the sun was already setting in the west. At her current pace, she would be home just in time for her mother, Mrs. Li, to call her for dinner.
Walking on the road, the cicadas on the treetops kept chirping, and the residual heat in the air made people feel bored.
But she was neither anxious nor impatient. Her young face showed a calmness that was inconsistent with her age. She looked at the small houses scattered around in the village and carefully took note of the situation of each house.
It was near the autumn harvest time, and not many people stayed at home. Through the low courtyard gate, you could see women preparing dinner at home.
She roughly compared the situation with the original owner's memory, noting down each house until she stopped outside the northernmost courtyard.
There is a jujube tree at the gate of the house. The gate is tightly closed, and the sound of reading can be faintly heard from inside.
Wang Erya pondered the original owner's memory and only remembered that Li seemed to have told her not to come here to play.
When she reached the door of her house, she was still thinking.
Li closed the lid on the stove and came out to see her daughter's round little face with an adult look on her face. She didn't know what she was thinking.
She smiled and said, "Erya, what are you thinking about?"
Wang Erya came back to her senses, thinking about the families she had just met in the village, and asked, "Mom, who lives in the house at the northernmost end of the village with the tree at the door?"
"Hmm? Is it the one with a jujube tree at the door?" Li asked.
She nodded.
"That's the home of Mr. Lin in the village. They like a quiet place. You should avoid going there when you are having fun, otherwise your father will scold you." Li threatened.
Wang Erya nodded obediently after hearing this.
Seeing that her little girl was so obedient, Mrs. Li smiled and touched her head without saying anything. She continued to set the dishes and didn't take the matter to heart.
But little did she know that Wang Erya, who was pretending to be well-behaved, was actually thinking about how to go to Mr. Lin's house and start a conversation.
To be honest, she had no choice but to do this. As a little girl from a mountain village, she was completely clueless about the outside world except for that little plot.
In this ancient time when information was blocked, if she wanted to make some plans for the future, she had to have a channel to get the news first. Otherwise, no matter how many plans she had, they would be nothing but the moon in the water and the flowers in the mirror.
Lin Xiucai, the only educated person in the village, was the one she chose after careful consideration.
In ancient times when the classes of scholars, farmers, artisans and merchants were clearly divided, scholars could barely be considered scholars. Even if they didn't know much about the current situation in the world, they were definitely much better than other people in the village.
Wang Erya knew that if she could get in touch with Lin Xiucai, the information she could get from him would definitely give her a comprehensive understanding of the current situation in the outside world.
But before, she only knew that there was such a person, and she was not even sure of his location in the village, so she couldn't move her heart. But just now, she accidentally confirmed the location, and now she can take her time to come.
…
Lin set the table and brought out the prepared dinner, placing it on the wooden table in the yard.
She looked at the sky which was about to get dark, and said to her daughter beside her: "Er Ya, go find your eldest brother and come back for dinner."
