In the backyard of the Taoist temple.
Ji Miaomiao looked at the black wood in her hand as if it were a treasure.
After finding out that the ebony wood could be used as a tool for drawing talismans, she no longer had any concerns and began to draw according to her original idea.
First, polish the ebony into a palm-sized wooden plaque, and then start drawing a few basic talismans on it.
Ji Miaomiao adjusted her mentality to be very calm. After failing twice, she finally succeeded on the third attempt. The three primary talismans were combined perfectly and drawn on the black wooden plaque.
There is a hint of restraint and extraordinaryness in the simplicity.
She took it in her hand and carved some patterns and edge decorations with a hand knife, brushed a layer of wood oil on it and put it aside to dry, intending to hand this protective wooden plaque to her master later.
It's still early.
Ji Miaomiao looked at the large piece of ebony that was still left, and an idea flashed through her mind. She wanted to use this piece of ebony to carve a suitable wooden sword for herself.
She prefers to use knives, not swords.
Forget about the fact that there hasn't been a suitable opportunity before. Now that the wood is here, it won't be that difficult to carve a wooden sword out of it. It can also be used to practice the Bi Shui sword technique.
She does what she says.
She picked up the carving tools and began to polish, carving carefully bit by bit as she usually did with her sword. Before dark in the afternoon, she finally polished out the shape, brushed it with wood oil and set it aside.
The next day, the wooden shield had dried and the wooden sword looked almost the same.
Ji Miaomiao thought about drawing some talismans on the knife for easier use.
After some research, she drew an energy-condensing talisman on the hilt, and a combination of an evil-dispelling talisman and an armor-breaking talisman on the blade.
After Ji Miaomiao finished drawing, she took the dark wooden sword in her hand and took it to the forest to practice her sword skills. After the practice, she smiled when she saw the knife marks left on the tree.
This knife is usable.
It just so happened that after the talisman was used up, a storage compartment became empty, so she put the knife in it.
In the evening, the master and disciple had dinner together in the Taoist temple.
Ji Miaomiao took out the protective wooden plaque and handed it to her master: "Master, this is the protective wooden plaque I drew these past two days. It is more effective than an amulet. Keep it with you."
Taoist Master Daoming took it with a happy smile on his face and said to her, "I saw you busy in the backyard these past two days. Were you making this wooden sign?"
Ji Miaomiao nodded and explained, "I'm worried about you, Master. I'm afraid you'll be in danger outside, and I can't always be by your side. With this wooden sign, I can rest assured."
"Okay! With your kindness, I will definitely carry it with me." Taoist Master Daoming hung the wooden plaque around his neck.
After the two of them finished discussing this topic, Daoming Zhener asked again, "Disciple, have you prepared everything for your trip to Qingyun Monastery tomorrow? Master won't be there to see you off then."
Ji Miaomiao chuckled and said, “Don’t worry, Master, I have brought all the gifts you asked me to bring. I don’t need to give them to myself.”
A few days had passed since the beginning of the new year, and it was time for her to go to Qingyun Temple to continue studying Taoism. Taoist Master Daoming asked her to bring New Year gifts for Taoist Master Daoquan and Qingyun Temple.
Most of them are some mountain products and supplements that are not heavy, and they are easy to carry in the suitcase.
After hearing what she said, Taoist Master Daoming nodded and felt relieved.
The next day, just after dawn.
Ji Miaomiao pulled her suitcase and left the Taoist temple. After going down the mountain, she took a bus to Qianfeng Mountain.
During the first few days of the Lunar New Year, there were not many people on the bus and the road was not as crowded as last time.
Near noon, she successfully arrived at Qingyun Temple and met Taoist Master Daoquan again.
"Uncle Master, this is the New Year gift that Master asked me to bring to you. Please accept it." Ji Miaomiao bowed halfway to Taoist Quan Zhenren who was sitting cross-legged on the cushion.
Taoist Master Daoquan remained stern. Seeing her standing in front of him, he casually looked her over before suddenly speaking in a deep voice, "Xuan Jing, have you made a breakthrough?"
"Yes, Uncle Master, I had an unexpected breakthrough a few days ago," she said.
Taoist Master Daoquan's eyes showed a look of relief. He nodded his chin and said to her, "Xuan Jing, cultivation cannot be done blindly. You have made some progress now. After you go down the mountain, go with your brothers and take on some cleaning tasks to practice."
Ji Miaomiao was a little surprised when she heard this, and then nodded and agreed: "Yes, uncle."
After saying this, Taoist Master Daoquan didn't let her say anything more, waved his hand and let her leave.
The following month of attending classes at Qingyun Temple was very fulfilling.
Although Ji Miaomiao was not a disciple of Qingyun Temple, she learned the basic knowledge and techniques of various Taoist methods. She also learned some exorcism, fortune-telling, formations and feng shui, which filled in the gaps in her basic knowledge.
On the eve of school starting, she met Xuan Ji again when she went to the place at the foot of the mountain to receive the task.
"Junior Sister Xuan Jing, are you here to take on the mission as well?"
Ji Miaomiao smiled and nodded: "Yes, I'll take on some tasks near Chuan City to practice."
"It's all here, junior sister, please take a look." Xuan Ji took out a few forms from a folder and handed them to her.
Ji Miaomiao took it and saw the time, place, and general situation written on it. There were about a dozen items in total, and she looked a little surprised.
"Are there so many near Chuan City?" she looked up and asked Xuan Ji.
Xuan Ji smiled and revealed his two small fangs when he heard this. He explained to her, "Junior sister, this is not much compared to other places. Besides, the targets in the missions are basically not very dangerous, so they are very suitable for you to train."
"Okay, I'll choose this one then."
Ji Miaomiao looked thoughtful when she heard that. She smiled and chose a task to eliminate the mutant spiders.
The mission location was near a village in Chuan City. She thought the place looked familiar and might be related to an incident she and her master had encountered when they went down the mountain before, so she chose it casually.
