Ji Miaomiao paused and didn't listen any further, then walked out of the ward.
Walking down the corridor, she pushed open the door of the lounge at the corner. Seeing that it was empty, she pulled out a chair and sat on it.
Under the warm yellow light, several small flying insects were flying around the light, making a faint "buzzing" noise.
Ji Miaomiao was wearing a white coat and had her fair, slender hands on the table, holding a gel pen and turning it up and down, but her eyes were half-closed and unfocused.
She thought of the news that had just been broadcast in the ward, took out her cell phone and hesitated for a moment, then lowered her head and tapped the flip phone keyboard with her fingers, sending a text message to a mobile phone number marked as a contact.
"Any missions lately?"
The text message quickly showed that it was sent successfully.
She waited for a moment, and her phone vibrated a few times, indicating that she had received a heartfelt text message.
Ji Miaomiao clicked on it. The message read, "There's a recent emergency joint mission from another city to apprehend a numerous evil cultivator. Do you want to join?"
She tapped her fingers on the phone keyboard and sent a new text message with only one word: "Go"!
The next second, the task content and general situation were sent to Ji Miaomiao's mobile phone.
Joint missions require coordination with other people's time.
Ji Miaomiao took a look at the message she received and knew that the action would be held the day after tomorrow, so she asked the doctor who was in charge of her for leave and switched shifts, freeing up the day after tomorrow and the day after the day after that.
After finishing her night shift the next day, she took off her white coat and returned to her residence, where she had a good sleep and adjusted herself.
When I woke up again, the room was dark because the curtains were drawn and I couldn't see the time clearly.
Ji Miaomiao rubbed her eyes, lifted the quilt, got up in her pajamas, walked to the window and opened the curtains. She saw that the sun was already setting in the sky, but the light was still bright, so she estimated that it was still early.
Sure enough, she walked into the living room and saw that the hands of the clock had just reached four o'clock.
Ji Miaomiao slowly went to the bathroom to wash up, then opened the refrigerator and carefully prepared a delicious meal in the kitchen. She then brought it out and ate slowly in the living room.
The house she lives in now is not the single room she had at the beginning. In addition to the beads she used for cultivation, she also saved a considerable amount of official subsidies from completing missions over the years.
This money is definitely enough to enjoy life.
Ji Miaomiao rented a two-bedroom apartment in a residential complex close to the hospital according to her own preferences, and she found it very comfortable living there alone.
It was almost six o'clock after dinner. She got up and changed into a black sportswear that was convenient for movement. After packing the talisman paper, she went out and took a taxi straight to the police station.
At night, there were not many people coming in and out of the police station.
Ji Miaomiao got out of the car, looked up at the steps at the door and walked in.
The corridors in the police station were very quiet, with only the occasional footsteps of uniformed police officers coming in and out, and the lights in the corridors turning on and off with the sounds.
This was not her first time here, and she was not unfamiliar with the situation inside the police station. After entering, she went straight to a special department office on the second floor and knocked on the door.
"Come in."
A lazy and impatient voice came from inside the door.
After hearing this, Ji Miaomiao pushed the door open and walked in, and saw the middle-aged policeman Wu Zixu, who looked decadent and had an unshaven beard, sitting behind the desk.
He has also been her task coordinator.
Wu Zixu looked up impatiently and saw Ji Miaomiao in a black sportswear. His expression softened a bit. He raised his hand, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a deep breath, exhaling a puff of white smoke.
After taking a puff of the cigarette, he held it between his hands and said without any emotion: "Miss Ji, now that you are here, please sit down and wait. The others haven't arrived yet."
"By the way, here is the mission information. If you want to see it, just take a look first." He added.
Ji Miaomiao had come into contact with Wu Zixu many times and was used to his unpleasant look. She glanced at the thick folder he handed to her without saying anything, took it, sat on the sofa beside her and started to look through it.
The information she received on her phone before was only a brief version, but the information in the folder she saw now was quite detailed, including various photos and information about several victims.
After watching for a few minutes.
She closed the folder and sighed, thinking about the various bloody and weird pictures of corpses on it, and she roughly understood why Wu Zixu looked so irritable.
Ji Miaomiao rubbed her temples and asked Wu Zixu in a cold tone, "Where did this evil cultivator come from? Why is he so arrogant?"
Wu Zixu had almost finished his cigarette. He raised his hand and pressed the cigarette butt hard into the ashtray next to him, then raised his hand to smooth his hair and looked at Ji Miaomiao.
"It is said that he is a follower of a cult. He caused a stir in Kyoto and was surrounded and suppressed. He escaped and slipped away."
"What sect?" Ji Miaomiao raised her eyes.
Wu Zixu sat up straight and leaned back in his chair, frowning for a long time as he spoke, "What's the name of the First Buddha Sect? The followers there kill people and dump bodies everywhere, creating tragedies. They are all a bunch of lunatics."
When he spoke the latter part, he gritted his teeth and was angry.
"The Beginning of the Buddhist Sect..."
Ji Miaomiao murmured the name again, a solemn look unconsciously appearing between her brows, and her facial expression was no longer relaxed but rather tense.
As a tasker who had carefully studied the plot, she had an impression of several villain forces mentioned in it, and she remembered the name Shifozong as soon as she heard it.
This is a sect composed entirely of evil practitioners. At the beginning of the plot, they occasionally jump around in the dark, and one of their believers commits one or two horrific murders to make their presence felt.
It was not until the end of the story that most of the believers in this cult were killed, leaving only a few evil practitioners. They made a desperate attempt to revive the original Buddha they believed in.
